Chapter 5: Fear

She turned in her bed all that night till the next day. The burden was too much for her. There was no one to talk to and She could not risk losing her job by telling her boss. If not for anything, but for the money she was sending home at the end of every month.

Weeks Later, her boss sent her to get some things from a super market not too far from where they lived. It was her first time going to the super market alone and

she was not feeling so comfortable with the idea, but she knew she had no other option a

so, she had to go.

She finished buying all she needed and went to make payment for the items. At the cashier's table, she saw different flavours of sweets and chocolates. She wanted to buy one for herself but she couldn't. Because, she was not having her own money and she was too afraid to use her boss's money, so, she just starred at them.

"You like that?" Asked Tony a young guy who had come to get some deodorants for himself at the supermarket. Grace was shocked but found the courage to tell him what she wanted. He got it for her and offered to pay for the other items, but she refused and handed the cashier the money.

She waited for him to make payment for his items and when he was done, she thanked him and waved him good bye, but Tony refused to let her go. He told her he would help her get a taxi to take her home, but grace explained to him that her place was not far And that she was going to walk back home. So, he offered to walk with her.

Grace was enjoying his company and didn't want that moment to end. For the first time in a long time, she found someone who was willing to talk to her and even walk with her. It made her feel loved.

When they got closer to her place, she told him to go back because, she didn't want her boss to see him with her. Tony felt bad. he was already getting close to her and he wanted to know her place so, he could visit sometimes too. He didn't have any choice though, so, he asked her name and requested for her number, so he could call her when he got to his apartment.

Grace asked him to write his number on the piece of paper she listed the items she went to buy and promised to call him with the house phone when ever she was alone, explaining that she didn't have a phone yet. Tony was very happy and told her he would be expecting her call. So, they parted ways.

When she got home that day, she could not stop imagining how her conversation with the young man went. It was her first time walking with a guy since she started working for Mrs Jones.

She wished it didn't have to end that way. She didn't even ask his name. She promised herself she was going to call him once everyone had left the house the next day, so that she could ask his name, and get to know him better.

She was really happy because, she had never had a friend and she needed someone to share her burden with. She just hoped he would be willing to be a good friend to her. If possible, a best friend.

She did all her chores that day with great joy and and happiness.

The next day, she went to the children's room to wake them up and prepare them for school but could not find Melinda. She got really scared. She couldn't find the courage to knock at her boss's door to tell her what had happened. So, she searched the whole house alone, praying silently she finds her before the rest woke up.

After so much search, she went back to the children's room hoping to find her there. When she couldn't find her, she decided to inform her boss about it because, she couldn't handle it alone anymore...

Just when she turned to leave, she heard a sound from the wardrobe. She moved slowly towards the direction of the wardrobe, with her hands shaking and her heart pounding, She managed to open the door.

To her amazement, Melinda was there in the wardrobe sleeping. She was confused but relieved at the same time. She managed to take her to the bed and got their water ready for them to bath. She tried to be as fast as possible because, time was already against her.

When she was done getting them ready, she served them breakfast and took their bags to the car. When she got back, she met her boss in the kitchen, dishing food for herself and her husband. She was alone and Grace wanted to talk to her about what had been going on behind her back but, she was too busy for that. She quickly instructed Grace on what to make for dinner and went to the dinning, asking Grace to bring the food for them.

Grace did as she was instructed. When she got to the dinning, mr Sam was already there with his wife. He was praising and admiring her dress. He was telling her all the sweet words he knew Grace was shocked to hear him say all that to the woman he was trying to cheat on with her. she dropped the food and left. She hated the sight of him. But she was too scared to tell her boss who he truly was.
