Chapter 10 (Part 3)

4360 Words
Here's another chapter. God bless you guys and stay safe! Kyle's POV Before anyone said anything further, the King of Red Kingdom barged in with a look of desperation. His black coat and black shirt underneath was slightly dishevelled. Just like his hair. He was panting by the time he stepped into the living room. Percival sensed the building tension in the room and quietly excused himself. "Wh...where is Phoenix?" He asked breathless. We didn't answer him at first. We just stared at him but not long after, our little red inched closer to the king. And not in a friendly way as to say "Hi" or "Welcome." What made us worry was her whole demeanor. She was fine just a moment ago but something must have snapped in her after seeing Zenas. We could see the swirly patterns on her skin breathing air and coming to life. Soon her giant set of wings peeled themselves away from her skin completely. Once they were fully spread out, they screamed danger. Even Zenas took a step back, clearly more guarded. I bet he took a closer look at Aeval and forgot all about his brother. Alex and I looked at each other worriedly. "Should we stop her?" I mouthed at Alex. He looked at me and shrugged. Then he warned me not to go anywhere near our dear sister. "Wow, Aeval-" "It's Queen Aeval to you now." She cut Zenas off and spoke icily. "Can I know where this sudden anger is coming from?" He scoffed and tried to play it cool but our Little Red was getting more annoyed. "You put her in a cell." She spoke calmly all of a sudden. She was anything but. We saw how her skin started to glow. The warm glow spread all over her form. Since her back was facing Alex and I, we couldn't see her eyes. They were definitely glowing which was why Zenas was starting to get nervous. "What?" "Don't pretend." She continued. The king sighed and put his hands up in surrender. "Fine I did it. But hear this Queen Aeval, I had all the rights to do it. I'm king of Red Kingdom and I won't tolerate any disrespect." "Respect is earned King Zenas. And how dare you treat India that way? After all she's done for your family and for the kingdom? She saved your little brother, she fought in the war. She's a respectable witch. Her respect was earned and you just threw her into a cell like an animal. If you were anyone else, I would.." "Oh what would you do Aeval?! Huh?! You couldn't hurt a f*****g fly!! You're wasting my time and I really need to see Phoenix!" Zenas yelled at her. Not the time asshole! I screamed in my head. Alex raised a brow at him and stepped back. A gesture to show that he was going to let his twin to do whatever she wants with him. And just like that the ground began to rumble. She swiftly walked up to Zenas and gripped his neck before he could react. "You don't know anything about me." She said calmly and allowed her wings to enclose them both. They covered her and their ends joined over King Zenas' back. "Hey! Wh...what t..the f**k?" He stuttered as she still had a hold on his neck. Alex and I both witnessed how she became brighter and brighter. She reminded me of the golden water upstairs. Only, at that moment I felt like she was part of it. "G..get away fr..from me!" Zenas yelled. Then he started shouting for help. She was definitely teaching him a lesson and I bet it hurt like hell. I've never heard the king scream. I don't think anyone has. That was exactly when King Phoenix barged into the living room. His shocked expression was priceless. I wished I had a camera to capture the moment. He freaked out as he saw his brother almost trapped inside Aeval's wings. "What are you waiting for?" I surprised myself by saying that to Darky. He simply stared at his wife in a daze. "King Phoenix!" He snapped out of it and stared at me. "I am all for punishing the king but I don't want Aeval to regret anything. Plus, we still need the king. And you're probably the only one who can stop her from turning him into ash." "What made her so angry?" He calmly asked. "Your brother yelled at her and practically challenged her." I said as a matter of fact. "Then he deserves it." "I think he's had enough." Alex called out, getting a little edgy. Perhaps he was right. The shouting got louder. Aeval was so powerful, that she couldn't hurt anyone for too long without killing them. Her husband knew this and that is why Alex and I sat back as we saw Darky walk up to our angry sister. He stood behind her small frame and gently placed his hand on the center of her back. "Little Flower, stop it. You don't want to kill him do you?" He asked softly. "He's so...... arrogant." She seethed out. "I know, he's my brother." The second King Phoenix said those words, Aeval loosened up her wings. Zenas practically jumped away from her, falling on the floor with a loud thud. He then started cursing everything and everyone around him like a crazy person. Somehow, we could understand. Light energy can really hurt dark beings and dark energy or dark powers can really hurt light beings. "What the hell is wrong with you?!!" He yelled at Aeval. Does he not learn his lesson?! He already had blisters all over his exposed skin and his clothes were torn due to the burn. There were even deep cuts on his arms and face. The healing process will be extremely slow but nevertheless they will heal so none of us felt bad. Aeval wasn't stupid either. She knew her limits. We just wanted to stop her because we worry she might regret losing her temper. Even for good reason. "Don't you dare speak to the queen that way. Not after what you've done." King Phoenix warned his brother. That was enough to shut Zenas' mouth. "You'll clean yourself and wait for me in my office." He continued to order his brother, who was surprisingly listening. I guess the Dark King could do more damage. "This can't wait any longer Phoenix! I was going to tell you but your oh so lovely-" "Don't make her do that again Zenas Everett. I might join in this time. You know what we could do together." King Phoenix sneered at his brother, making him gulp. He then shakily stood up from the floor like an angry drunkard. "There were bombings in Red Kingdom okay!!!" He spat out with so much rage. Everything stilled after those words. Everything was silent. No one knew what to say because it was the last thing we expected to hear. "What the f**k?" The words flew out of my mouth before I could think. "Yeah what he said." Alex said looking at them. We were both trying to comprehend what King Zenas just said. King Phoenix's eyes darkened into a dangerous black while Aeval's golden glow intensified all over her body for the second time that day. What the hell? Bombings? He must be joking. He couldn't be serious. He's lying. "Two bombs went off today. One in the main village square and the other....." He swallowed and looked and King Phoenix. I stood up slowly. I could feel my legs shaking as I did so. Alex had already walked towards them but I couldn't take another step. The village square. "Where was the other one Zenas?" King Phoenix asked coldly without a hint of emotion. Only his eyes showed how disturbed he was. "In the castle." King Zenas muttered under his breath. In a split second, the Dark King's hand was around his brother's neck in a deathly grip. "What did you say?" He said lowly. It was pin drop silence now. Everyone waited for an explanation but we also feared the hybrid king's next action. "Ou...our fam..ily is s..safe. Every...one." King Phoenix pushed him away forcefully, making him fall on the floor again. I tore my eyes away from them for a moment. The pain in my chest loosened a tiny bit knowing that a certain pure blood was unharmed. But the intense pain in my heart only became worse. Alex and Aeval immediately looked at me to see if I was alright. What could they possibly do? We don't know anything yet. "What else?" Aeval turned to King Zenas and demanded him to explain further. He looked at her regretfully and shook his head. "What else King Zenas?!" She raised her voice. "The bombs were pretty big so.....many of the people...many of them are dead." His voice shook as he explained the situation. We went on to say more but I couldn't listen. My heart was beating inside my head. I couldn't stand anymore and so I landed on the couch heavily. Aeval covered her mouth with both her hands. None of us could believe this actually happened. I tried to calm myself but it was useless. The school might not be in the center of town but it wasn't very far away from it either. What if she's- Oh God. And all those people. What did they ever do to deserve this violence? I couldn't imagine the number of broken families that these bombings left. "Kyle we don't know anything yet." I looked up to see Alex standing by my side with his hand on my shoulder. "Maybe she survived..." "We don't know that do we?" "Alex?" Aeval called out to him. "Where is Beth?" She asked. It was then that we both looked around. "She must have gone into town." Alex quickly answered. "It's not safe, Alexander. Send the guards the bring her back." King Phoenix said with a hint of demand. He was right. But something didn't sit well with me. "We haven't seen Bessie since we went to Red Kingdom ourselves Alex. Where the hell is she? The last time we spoke was when-" "She was drilling Lilian." Aeval finished my sentence as realization dawned on us. "You don't think-" she began and stopped herself. "s**t!" Alex cursed under his breath. Then he rushed towards the doors. "I have to go look for her!" "Alex, take the guards with you!" His twin ordered him. He may go out to look for her but Aeval, me and even Alex knew she most probably went to Red Kingdom. "This is such a mess." I sighed heavily as my body sagged into the couch. "Kyle have a little faith. Please." Aeval said softly. "Mother and father are taking care of the castle in Red Kingdom. Our sister is helping the people with all the soldiers, warriors and guards." King Zenas spoke to King Phoenix and Aeval. He sounded down but I couldn't feel sorry for him. We tried to warn him, we tried to help. If his ego wasn't the size of his head then maybe this wouldn't have happened. Just thinking about Lilian pains me. She has a family there as well. So many children attend the school. What a disaster. "Aeval, why don't you take your brother to the dining hall or upstairs? I'll call you when the alpha king arrives. He needs to be here sooner." King Phoenix slowly said to his wife. He wanted to be alone with his brother. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Third Person's POV Aeval took Kyle to the private dining room upstairs. She made him a cup of tea and sat with him. They didn't speak a single word but they needed each others company. What happened was mortifying. Queen Aeval couldn't imagine the number of those who lost their lives. She was angry and sad. They were innocent people. And the children. Her eyes watered just by thinking about it. Kyle sat next to her with his head buried in his hands. He left Lilian for a day. Just a day. And this is what happens. The universe was cruel, especially to him. It took away everyone from him. He couldn't afford to lose anyone else. He's given his heart to someone after a long time. He needed her back in his arms. She has to come back to him. Right at that moment Kyle realised that he couldn't face a world without his Lilian. "I shouldn't have let her go." He whispered under his breath. "Kyle please," his sister took his hands in hers. Her eyes were sad but she was determined not to let him be filled with guilt. "It wasn't your fault. How could you have possibly known? How could anyone know something like this was even possible. In Red Kingdom of all places." "Maybe ruling by fear is better huh? At least then no one dared to attack the vampire kingdom...." "Kyle you're spitting out nonsense. Because you're hurt and worried. I understand. King Zenas is a good being. He wanted to set his people free. Perhaps he was too engrossed into the plan that he missed out obvious signs of threat and warnings." "He's a jerk who refused listen Aeval. India, Tim and I tried to warn him. Over and over again." Kyle smiled at her sadly. "And look where that has gotten us." His voice broke. Aeval remained quiet as she looked into his sad eyes. Instead of talking, she simply held his hands, providing what little comfort she could. She prayed that Lilian was alive. She couldn't bear for Kyle to have his heart shattered. Not again. Not after her. "You know, I need to find out where Grendon and the other pixies are. I'm going to go upstairs and track them with the golden water. Come with me Kyle. You will need it." She said and slowly got up with him. He merely had the chance to nod before there was an argument downstairs. "Is that....?" Queen Aeval started before she rushed downstairs. Kyle followed in suit. "Prince Timothy!" Queen Aeval cried out and ran towards him. He too rushed to her and embraced his favorite Fae. The queen was so glad he was alright. Her brother needed him. As they slowly pulled away, Prince Timothy noticed Kyle standing behind Queen Aeval. They looked at each other for a long moment. Both frozen in their spots like statues. They stood there for so long that King Phoenix almost left the living room. It was too dramatic for him. Even a blister covered King Zenas couldn't take it. He purposely yawned. As more seconds ticked by, Prince Timothy and his human continued to look at each other, not knowing what to say. They had no idea where or how to start. Not being to take the awkwardness any longer, King Zenas forced out a cough, effectively snapping Prince Timothy out of it. "Lilian is safe human." He finally informed Kyle. After those words were out, all the colour that was previously lost returned to the human's face. He was alive again. That was the only thing he needed to hear. "H...how...?" He stuttered, not being able to contain the relief which kept flooding him. "I went to see her, to talk. It was then that the bombings happened. She was hurt but not too badly. That crappy school actually survived. Her grandfather lives too. But the rest I am not sure. A lot of humans are dead." Kyle gulped and placed his hand of his forehead. "It must be...horrible." He whispered out. "It is. I am sorry." "She's hurt? Why isn't she with you?" "She wants to stay and help. She said she couldn't leave her children. We tried to convince her to come. At least Queen Bethany did." "Wait where is Queen Bethany?" Aeval asked. "She's with her husband now. We met them on the way to the castle. King Alexander is quite angry." The young prince answered her. "Lilian wanted to stay?" Kyle asked again. "She said she couldn't abandon the young ones in their time of need. Do not worry, she will be with my dear sister at all times. Princess Esmeralda has given us her word." "Thank you." Kyle whispered. Not because he didn't have the strength but because of his sheer gratefulness. His woman was alive and she was going to be okay. "Thank you Tim. I really really needed to hear that." "She also told me to send you her emotions and stuff like that but I didn't bother to listen. She can tell you herself." Kyle couldn't help himself but smile. Of course Tim wouldn't do it. Queen Aeval too, smiled at the adorable duo standing not far from her. Only she was happy. The two siblings on the couch were having a heated discussion. Her husband was still furious with his younger brother and she could understand why. She tuned them out for a tiny moment. Just to see a little warmth on that unfortunate day. Something told her they were going to face many challenges starting that day. She didn't know if she was ready. She wanted to hurt King Zenas further for not taking people's advice. Those people did not have to die. They did not have to suffer so much. ~~~~~~~~~~ Later that night. (Silver Heights) "What's the plan? Where do we go from here? We need to act now." King Zenas frantically moved around. "You should've acted months ago genius." The alpha king scolded King Zenas in from of everyone gathered in the office. "Okay you don't think I already know that?! I'm tired of being bashed up! Enough already. First Aeval almost burned me, then I had hours of lecture from my brothers, now I don't need more from you!" He pointed a finger at a cool looking Silvian. The werewolf king remained passive as he saw the young king before him. He was trying to figure out just how King Zenas managed to mess up so badly. How could he not know what to do? Why couldn't he reach out to Phoenix? Does he not discuss these matters with his advisors? Was Zenas retarded? Oh wait, did the little Fae almost burn him? And he missed that?! Damn! That would have been awesome to watch! I wonder if anyone recorded that. His train of thoughts carried him away until Queen Aeval spoke. "Your sister just called. They have reprimanded some of the suspects. I think they're......forcing the t..truth out of them." She spoke softly. "Good! Finally some good news." Alpha Silvian spoke up as he took a seat next to General Gabriel. "We'll get some answers soon. Especially with Esmeralda in charge. And tonight we'll get further news from the prisoners here once Phoenix is done with them." The Dark King rested his fist under his chin with his thumb at the corner of his lips. His black shirt was perfectly rolled up to the elbows and all that stress made the veins on his forearms to protrude. Even if he was buried in his thoughts, he could still feel his wife's gaze on him. She knew what he would be doing to those prisoners tonight. Not only because they were rebels. That was far from it. He would torture them because they tried to hurt her. Not wanting his wife to talk him out of it, he ignored her gaze. "We'll find their f*****g lair in no time. Then we swoop in a kill all those motherfuckers." Alpha Silvian spoke with a deep desire for a good hunt. His wolf was missing some fun. "It won't be that easy Silvian." King Alex spoke up. "These people want to destroy the strongest kingdom in the world. We're not up against some mediocre group of thieves. This is a trained group of rebels. If left longer, they could become a small army. We lost more than two hundred and sixty lives today and who knows how many before that." He glared at King Zenas. "And if they are this good, they are working under someone. They must have a pretty bold leader." Queen Aeval muttered. "Exactly. We need to end their leader or leaders." King Alex agreed. "Right, so how and when-" Queen Bethany was interrupted by soft knocking. The heavy wooden doors opened to reveal Grendon and his pixies. Mr. Percival gave a bow and closed the doors. "If you're all gathered then you already know about the bombings." Grendon looked at everyone in the room. The pixies were all gloomy due the terrible incident. "Yes Grendon. We know." Queen Aeval spoke softly. "So you know about the rebellion as well, my queen." Queen Aeval nodded at this. "If you have no more news, you can leave Grendon. Thanks for your hard work." King Zenas spoke quickly as he placed around in the corner. "I'm not quite finished yet." Grendon snapped at him, not liking his tone. "Oh yeah?" King Zenas challenged when in fact it would be all the wiser for him to have remained quiet. "Yes, the Lady Tallulah confirmed of this rebellion. She said it has been growing for some months now. She fears that the group of rebels have become much larger. Lady Tallulah believes that this rebellion could be stopped if acted upon sooner. She warns us to be extra careful." Grendon finished. King Zenas wanted to strangle both Grendon and Tallulah. "What else do we have to know Zenas? Lady Tallulah knew about this and we didn't?!" King Phoenix yelled. "I keep saying that I know I made some mistakes-" "Some?" King Phoenix cut him off. "What else did she say? The alpha king asked Grendon. "Only that they're spread everywhere. No one even knows who's leading these vampires. That's all." Grendon replied. "Can we go Your Majesty?" He looked to his queen. "Yes Grendon. And I would like to thank you all for the hard work today. Do go and have a good rest. Oh, Wineblossom and Moonshadow, you are both needed by Snowpierce the owl." Queen Aeval said gracefully and they left. Alpha Silvian and King Zenas stared blankly as they would never hear anyone instruct pixies about meeting up with owls. "Well what we all can do now is send out the best warriors to hunt once Esmie gets back to us. We'll at least get a few locations by tomorrow. Then we can each send out small groups to investigate. That could be a start." King Phoenix spoke up and looked at Gabriel to see what he thinks. "Yes. We also have fighters who are trained to spy so we'll send them out too." "My Luna will send out an elite group of wolves who are trained for classified missions. My beta is one of them. I'm going to ask Lady Tallulah and her people to help protect the northern border. We'll warn all the other alphas too. To make sure they keep their packs safe...." "And make sure there aren't any traitors among them." King Alex finished his sentence. "I just hope none of the alphas are traitors." "If they are, I'm sure you'll know what to do." King Phoenix said to his friend. "We're all working together on this. I hope that scares them off a little." Queen Bethany said. "Well, don't count on it. They dared to attack Queen Aeval. Who knows what these psychos are up to." Alpha Silvian bit back. They discussed a few other things before ending the meeting. No one left satisfied. There was going to be a lot of training, a lot of fighting and a shitload of paperwork. Once they all walked out, they got ready to leave. The alpha king immediately left for his kingdom. King Alex and Queen Bethany followed in suit. They needed to settle a lot of work in Golden Haven if they wished to help end the rebellion. Queen Aeval and Kyle followed them out to say goodbye. King Zenas slowly walked towards the main living area, wanting to relax. But when he got there, he caught sight of the witch waiting while reading a book. She heard him walk in and stood up abruptly. Their eyes connected for a short moment. King Zenas saw a flash of dread in India's eyes. It vanished once the general rushed towards her and stood beside her with his arms around her shoulders. She then stood a little taller and stared back at her king. "You look well." He said flatly. "Never better, King Zenas." She forced herself to speak bravely. She kept reminding herself that she was no longer in Red Kingdom and he wasn't in power here. "Ah, it's good that you're both here." All of them turned towards the deep, commanding voice of King Phoenix. "Miss India Gunnar, you will be given permission to open your school. My brother and I have come to an understanding that you will receive no further objections from anyone." The Dark King stared at his brother with dark, dangerous eyes that dared him to defy his words. Instead of talking back, King Zenas surprisingly looked away, avoiding his brother's deadly stare. "Yes, yes she will." King Zenas gritted out while he stared at India. She was truly shocked to hear it. She couldn't believe that they would simply allow this. "If I may ask, how did..." "You've earned it Miss Gunnar." King Phoenix replied sharply and left the living room with his brother. King Zenas couldn't fight back because his older brother made him see how stupid it was for him to throw her into the dungeons. India was the one witch who fought in the war, saved Prince Timothy, saved his beloved Little Flower and help save many people in Red Kingdom with her gifts. She was a well known and well respected witch. For a king to blindly lock her up for asking questions is an obvious sign of immaturity and lack of leadership skills. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
