CHAPTER ONE:THE UNPLANNED
RACHEL
Waking up next to a naked stranger was not on my list of things to do today, but somehow that was exactly what happened.
The man next to me was probably the most good-looking man I'd ever set eyes on in my entire life. He looked so peaceful as he slept, his black curly hair fell to his face and I almost reached up to brush it away.
I internally groaned. I needed to get my s**t together and get a move on if I wanted to make it to class. I knew better than to go partying on a weekday and I blamed my best friend, Liza for talking me into it. That girl was going to land me in jail one of these days.
I quietly rolled out of bed and picked my clothes off the floor. I put them on hastily and rushed tipped toed towards the door. I had just latched on to the knob when a voice made me freeze.
“Darling, don't you think it's kinda of rude to leave without saying goodbye?” His deep, soft British accent caused a delightful shiver to run down my spine.
Now I'd solved the mystery of why I'd gotten into bed with a complete stranger. I was a sucker for British accents.
I turned around slowly with an awkward smile on my face, that faded the moment I saw him.
Did I say he was good-looking? I totally f*****g lied. He was gorgeous. Dark curly hair, gorgeous grey eyes, a jawline that could cut wood and don't even get me started on his muscular body, and then my eyes landed on his package—a very huge package that showed through the briefs he was now wearing. I mentally smacked myself, I could not believe I'd been all over that and I couldn't remember a single thing about it.
“Do you speak? Or do you just stare?”
I shook my head to bring myself back to reality. “Uhm, hello.”
“Ah, she speaks.” He grinned and walked over to his fridge.
Now that I wasn't trying to sneak out, I noticed that his house was grand. It screamed money.
“Of course, I speak. I was I just about to leave?”
“Would you at least let me offer you some coffee?”
“Nope. I've got to run, but it was nice… meeting you.”
He let out a chuckle. “Not so fast, Princess.” He tsked. “I'll drop you off, you're a long way from where we met.”
My heart dropped. I hadn't even considered the fact that I wasn't close to my apartment.
“When you say a long way, what do you mean?”
“I mean we are in the next town. It's a two-hour drive back.”
“How did that even happen?”
“You were drunk, you were all over me. I asked you to come back to my place with me. You agreed.” He said with a shrug.
My cheeks heated up in embarrassment. “I was not all over you.” I scoffed.
“Oh, please, you practically begged for me.”
Okay, jerk alert. “Well, I was drunk. If I'd been sober, I wouldn't have come near you with a ten-inch pole.”
He laughed. “We both know that's a big lie.”
“You're so full of yourself.” I put on my shoes and grabbed the door handle. “I don't need you to get back. I can do it on my own.”
He smirked. “Okay, Princess. Let's see how far you get.”
My blood was boiling, and I wanted to throw something at his head, but I didn't need a lawsuit adding to the already growing list of problems in my life, so I stuck my tongue out at him and stormed out.
***
I didn't get far. I'd walked in circles three times and I kept landing in the same spot. I couldn't find a bus stop anywhere, and I couldn't call Liza to come pick me up. To make it worse, I didn't have my phone. I must have left it in the jerk's apartment, and I was not going to get it back. I'd rather get a new phone.
I sat down on the concrete feeling dejected. I had a test that was worth ten percent of my grade in less than an hour. There was no way I was going to make it. I also had to go see my dad at the hospital. I couldn't afford to miss that. He needed me to be there. His condition wasn't getting better, and I was the only one that was able to get him to take his drugs, which he would need to take very soon, then I had to get to work.
I felt my eyes begin to sting and then the tears started rolling freely. I didn't stop them. I was a crier, it made me feel better.
“Are you ready to give up yet?” the familiar British voice said. I looked up to find him staring at me with a look of sympathy on his face.
“Go away,” I muttered and turned away from him. I didn't want him to see me cry.
“Don't be stubborn. You clearly need help. I'll get you to where you need to go.”
I looked behind him to see a shiny sports car. It looked brand new. I could either stay here and cry the whole day or take the jerk's offer. It wasn't much of a choice really.
“Fine, but this doesn't mean I owe you anything.”
“Never said you did.”
I got into the car and almost sighed. My ass had never known such softness before. I had to stop myself from fully relaxing.
“You attend Jordan University, right?”
“Yes. How'd you know that?”
“Uhm… that's where the party was?” His response was filled with sarcasm and I rolled my eyes.
“So you're a student there?”
“God no. I was only visiting a friend. I'm not in college. Not my thing.”
“Of course. The rich kid that gets to do whatever he wants because his parents own the whole world.”
“You know nothing about me.”
“I know about people like you,” I muttered.
He glared at me and I saw his knuckles turn white as he tightened his grip on the steering wheel. I'd hit a nerve for some reason, that didn't feel as good as it should have.
“Just shut up for the rest of the ride, okay? I'll get you to where you need to go and then we never have to see each other again.”
