She pointed at Matthew furiously. “How dare you try to take advantage of Miss Kone like this?!” Everything felt messy in Kylie's mind. She look at her secretary, Lena, and saw the eyes all big and angry. Lena looked like she wanted to shout or break something, maybe both. “Miss Kone! I’m telling you! This guy, he is a con man! I knew it first time I see him, and now, he just prove me right!” Lena shouted. Kylie didn’t answer. She feel something strange in her chest. Her mouth open a little but words didn’t come. Then Lena leaned forward more, pointing at Mathew. “Think about it! Dyspnea, he touch your… sensitive area… that’s crazy! No doctor does that! He is tricking you!” Kylie shook her head slowl. “I… I don’t think so, Lena. He said, the sickness is very dangerous if it stay too long… maybe he is serious? I feel he is not lying maybe.” Lena blinked, frown getting bigger. “Hmph! Words are easy! Everyone can say anything! But actions… actions show the truth! He hasn’t done nothing yet! I still don’t trust him! Not at all!” Kylie turned to Mathew. “Please… you can continue now. I trust you… for now.” Mathew nod slowly. He put his hand gently on Kylie’s chest. Soft. Warm. A little green energy start to flow. Kylie felt a tingling in her chest, arms, legs, even fingers. Her veins feel awake, her heartbeat slower but calm. The tight pain she had for years, it’s… soft, moving away little by little. Lena gasped. “What is this? How… how he do that?” She crossed arms, frown still deep, but she couldn’t say anything more. Kylie took a soft breath, “Hhh… it feels… different… but better.” Her shoulders relax a bit, her eyes not tired like before. She could feel her chest lighter. Mathew slowly pull hand away, stop the energy. The warm tingling disappear. Kylie touch her chest, smile tiny. Relief is there. Not full, not big, but enough. Lena scoff, mutter, “Done? He touch her few seconds and now she feels better? No… no way. Something is wrong.” Kylie look at him. Calm, confident, like nothing could shake him. “Thank you,” she whisper, quiet, almost to herself. Mathew nodded, “You’re welcome. But remember… sickness is dangerous. You take care, don’t let it come back.” Lena still frowned, still angry, but no more words now. Kylie look at him again. His eyes… deep, calm. She feel something… strange. She don’t know what, but she knows this man will change her life, one way or another. Mathew was like a joke to Lena. How could a young man like him, could cure a sickness that had baffled every renowned doctor in the country? Just a touch? Ha! Ridiculous. “Are you sure Miss Kone is healed, or maybe you want to enjoy the smoothness of her skin a little more?” “Lena?” Kylie suddenly snapped. “I’m serious, Miss Kone! I can’t allow this guy to fool you. Don’t tell me you feel any difference? Huh? You didn’t feel anything, right?” The secretary protested, her hands waving in the air, almost like she was trying to hit invisible truth out of the air. Kylie went silent. “That's not possible. No way in this world! This sickness… it cannot be treated by just one touch! I told you… I warned you… you didn’t listen to me! And now, this con… this trickster… he took advantage of you. I… I would never allow him to touch me!” Lena said angrily. Kylie was still quiet, but suddenly… there was a strange twist in her chest! She gasped, grabbing the door beside her,she vomited a small black object from her mouth. “Huh?!” Lena’s eyes nearly popped out of her head. She leaned closer, starring. “What… what is that?!” Kylie's hand trembling. “I… I just… I don’t know… it came out… from inside me…” Mathew bent down and picked up the tiny black thing. “This is a poison. It’s called Dresmorroot.” “Poison?!” Both ladies jumped back, almost knocking over the car seat. “You mean… this… inside her… all this time? And he… he cured it? With just a touch?” “Yes,” Mathew said calmly, like it was nothing special. “Dresmorroot is very dangerous. It can stay in a person’s body for many many years. Slowly… it attacks the heart. If not treated, it will cause chronic chest pain. And in the end… it blocks the respiratory system… slowly… until the victim cannot breathe… and passes away.” Lena’s face turned pale. “You… you’re telling me… this… this is real? And you… you really removed it?” Kylie nodded slowly. She touched her chest again. The warmth was still there. The pain was gone. “Impossible… there’s no way… just a touch… it cannot be…” Lena muttered. Kylie and Lena became frightened as Mathew explained it. Lena turned at her boss and said, “I know the Kone family has many enemies, but who… who would be so bold to poison the Ice Queen of Virelia City?” Kylie chuckled. “Enemies never sleep. They always plan evil things. But they won’t win every time. I will catch them… I promise.” Lena nodded slowly. “How… how are you feeling now, Miss Kone?” “I… I feel better,” Kylie said, her hand still on her chest. “All the pain… it’s gone. My breathing… it’s so much easier. Mr. Mathew is really… really a miracle doctor.” The secretary felt embarrassed. She couldn’t believe how wrong she had been. She had doubted Mathew from the start. She remembered her harsh words and regret. If she hadn’t been so stubborn earlier, maybe she could have asked him for help too and gotten rid of her illness long ago. “Mr. Mathew… thank you so much for… for restoring my health,” Kylie said again. Mathew shook his head. “It’s no problem. But… the agreement… is it still intact?” He looked more serious. Kylie nodded quickly. “Yes, yes it’s intact. I kept the root in my manor.” Mathew nodded. “Good. I would like to have it today. Can we go now?” The secretary remained silent. “Let’s go, Lena,” Kylie ordered. With an unhappy expression, Lena started the car engine and they drove away from the garden. But just as they were about to leave the route that led out of the Garden, Marielle slammed the brakes. Her eyes widened. The road was completely blocked with heavy planks, old rusted metal, big worn-out tires. “What’s the problem?” Kylie asked. “The road… it’s blocked, Miss Kone,” Lena said, pointing. “I… I don’t know who put this here. But… we can’t go through.” Kylie came out of the car and looked around but she couldn’t see anything strange. She was surprised, because the path wasn’t blocked when they drove this way earlier. So why it is blocked now? She frowned. Since there was no other way, Kylie thoughts of removing the planks and tires herself. Her hands gripped the wood, but before she could lift anything, a deep and intimidating voice stopped her. “If I were you… I wouldn’t attempt,” Kylie froze. She looked at the direction of the voice, and then she saw them; A group of big and muscular men coming out from a hidden corner. Their clothes were dark, some even had scars on their face. They carried heavy metal rods.
