Mattew yanked hard against the rope again, feeling it burn deeper into his wrists. The fibers dug into his skin, cutting into him with every movement, but he didn’t stop. He twisted his hands with force, pulling at the knot with everything he had until, finally, the rope snapped apart. His hands came free at once. He wasted no time rubbing his wrists, ignoring the sharp sting as he pushed himself upright. His breathing was heavy as he looked around the room again, trying to understand where he had been dragged to. The air was thick with rust and damp concrete.
