Drawn To What?

982 Words
The night wind blew west as the curtains danced to its rhythm, the lit candle flames also concurred to it and the oak tree outside the room flagged its branches, but Matilda sat on her bed curled up and empty. She kissed him back. She had kissed him because she wanted him. She had kissed him because she felt he was special and most of all, she had kissed him because she liked it, but she never actually thought she would get such cold attitude from someone who had been so passionate towards her. What went wrong, she asked herself as she raked her brain for answers but couldn't find any. She was utterly lost and confused and wanted nothing more but to run, to run and hide and never be seen again. She couldn't face him again after that encounter neither would she be able to face Devin. The guy actually witnessed everything!! "Make sure she gets back to her aunt's safely " She recalled him saying as she also recalled the cold tone of his voice and his icy demendor. Like she was a f*****g five year old waiting to be chaperoned. Just who the hell did he think he was? He couldn't even say goodbye, and he didn't even bother to spare her a glance before walking away, and he had left her alone with Devin, with Devin f*****g Wilson who she was sure would make a jest of what he witnessed between her and Lenore and spread it to everyone. She should have known he was a player, the damned guy was a heartless f****d up player she thought as she remembered the glances the female hands gave him. She should have known. Stupid Matilda, she scolded herself as tears threatened to slip down her eyes. She wanted to go home, she wanted to leave because she couldn't stand it when the news spreads that she was a slut who was so easy to get to. A sob escaped her lips as she thought of how disappointed aunt Martha would be and how Hannah would make fun of her. She knew that the girl had bad blood stored for her and wouldn't hesitate to use it against her. " I am f****d up " she muttered " So f****d up I wanna vanish and never be seen again " But it wasn't just her that was f****d up. This town was more f****d up than her and that made her want to leave, she had always loved aunt Martha and cherished her, but a few weeks in this town sure sent warning signals to her. There was something about the town and its people that just didn't add up, but she couldn't put a finger on it and it scared the hell out of her. "I sense death, blood shed and war" little Beth had said. Just what on earth was that supposed to mean, she thought as she stood up and walked to the window. She didn't know what it was, but she had a feeling that there were things which everyone hid from her, everyone including her aunt Martha. They all made her want to run and hide, the feeling of being odd, the feeling of not belonging, the feeling of rejection. But none of them scared her like the feeling she got right now, she thought as she stretched her right hand out the window. The feeling of being drawn. She could feel it deep deep down in her bones anytime the wind moved west. She could feel the pull, the magnetic force of something she didn't know reaching out for her, she had thought she was hallucinating the first time she had felt it but this right now proved her theory wrong. She could feel it, she was sure of it because she heard it, she heard the soft whisper which came from behind her. Matilda..... The whisper sent shivers down her spine and made her body quake. She didn't know why but the thought of turning towards the whisper appalled her and made her want to scream. Was this house hunted? Or even still, was the town hunted? And if so why her? She was just a nobody who was new to town and didn't know a thing about what went on in it. She didn't deserve this, this scare and fright wasn't meant for her. Matilda.... The whisper came again, this time a little bit stronger and more than a whisper. Go away, she begged. Please please go away, go hunt someone else I beg of you. But the wind picked up in contrast to her plea as a wild hurricane began to form around her. " Help " She screamed " Somebody help me " She tried getting out of the circle but was drawn back by invisibile hands. " Let me go " She screamed as she tried to free herself but was held intact as the hands began to draw her out the window. "Aaaaahhhhhhh" she screamed as she held on to the window seel. Thunderous knocks fired on the door and she heard aunt Martha shouting for the spare key. " Help me " She screamed. The wind increased and the hands became more persistent. Come with me, she heard it say and this time it wasn't a whisper but an old creepy voice. Come with me.... " Noooooo " she screamed as the door to her room broke open and the wind ceased. " Matilda " her aunt said rushing to her where she fell to the floor, disheveled and ruffled from the attack. She saw a black smoke pass through the window as her aunt hugged her tightly. " It's okay " her aunt assured her " You are safe now" But she didn't think so, not after her room was invaded by God knows what and not with all the creepy things going on. " I want to go home " was all she managed to say.
