Complications

Silent whispers floated through the room as they exchanged words which she couldn't understand, she sometimes thought that these folks had their own language. After what seemed like centuries Jade brought Lenore's order and dropped it on the counter with a disgusted look on her face. Lenore silently pushed a ward off cash on the counter and smiled as he took his order and walked out of the door. What the hell just happened She looked to Jade for answers but after glaring holes into Lenore's back she gave her a scowl and walked away slamming the kitchen door after her, the impact left Matilda startled. She silently picked the money which was exceedingly more than the price for five cups of coffee and stuffed it into the drawer, getting on her feet she made for the back door, neglecting all the screams her mind shot at her telling her to go back. Lenore pushed the van door open and got inside. "That was a dirty stunt Dev but never...." The van was empty, where on Earth was Devin. Stepping down from the van he walked to the front to see Devin standing near the car bonnet while surveying his surroundings. "Enjoying the view?" He asked " you seem to forget you stand on the enemies grounds" he said as he made his way to where Devin stood. He offered him his own cup of coffee and made to open his own while Devin hesitated. "You think they have it poisoned" asked Devin Lenore gave him a look as his lips twisted into a smile. "The DuPont woman have more pride in her guts than that" said Lenore as he took a gulp from his cup."She would never poison a guest" Devin nodded and took a sip from his own cup" Such a waste of good coffee" he said " many from the beareau would have loved it" "The beareau stays in the beareau" said Lenore as he took one more gulp of his coffee and squeezed the paper cup before throwing it away " We are a long way from home Dev, we should be on our way back" he said and made to move but was interrupted by Devin "So the lion visited his den" said Devin " I bet they where too welcoming" "Very welcoming" said Lenore " don't spit s**t Devin you where the one who wanted to visit this crappy place" "Crappy hugh" Devin replied Lenore continued his walk, he sometimes didn't know what to make of the young man, he was in the midst of his thoughts when he sensed a familiar feeling, he looked up to see the person that intruged him the most the chatty little Matilda, well wouldn't be so little and chatty if she grew up in Harvabridge, just what on Earth was Martha thinking bringing her here, deciding to leave the girl to her fate he got into the van. Minutes later Devin got into the van. "What took you long" asked Lenore Devin gave him a hard long look before asking" Who is she" "DuPont's damned niece" Lenore spat. Devin had known his friend for a long time and knew that he only got irritated when something got under his skin. "You seem quite taken by her" he said but got the whoosh of the tire against Colter as a reply as they made their way out of the garage. Devin smiled internally wondering how this game was going to end.
