It had been a week since Tilda arrived in Harvabridge and her life have been moving between home and her aunt's Cafe, still it was better than being in Carlifonia with her mum and getting but a sneak peek at the world. At least she got to see different kinds of people go in and out of the Cafe and that was more than enough, though she noticed that the whole town seemed to have their meals at the Cafe.
Last two days she got to watch a brawl between old Mr Bonz and a lady whose name she didn't remember over a matter which she didn't remember, but her intense forgetfulness was forgiven because it was fun watching the lady set Mr Bonz right. Though she knew it was wrong taking delight in an old mans displeasure, Mr Bonz always felt as if he owned the universe so.....
Her aunt was right about one thing though, Harvabridge was indeed a fun place to be in, they had sights to visit, rivers and streams to swim and mountains to explore, one would think these boring but she thought them beautiful and besides their were other places like the Jam club and Meg's Cafe which was her aunt's.
One thing did upset her and that was the whisperings and looks she got from locals while passing by, she thought those sought of things ended in highschool but she turned out to be wrong.
"What is she doing in Harvabridge"
"Is she visiting or staying for good"
She always caught the whisperings, but to be sincere she didn't mind staying for good as long as she had her aunt, the fun Cafe and Jade who had magically become her best buddy after being the first to openly ask what others have been making a whisper.
Jade was a beauty of her own kind who always had a distant hollow look in her eyes, that matches with a cheerful chatterbox tongue. Matilda thought that a very odd match.
The Cafe was bustling and ovens working as she sat on the counter looking through the daily sales when she felt the whole place go quiet.
"Strange" she thought " and mostly abnormal" looking up to know the cause of the sudden quietness she met a pair of icy eyes walking towards her.
She was baffled, mesmerized even, before the thought struck her.
She knew him
She knew those icy cold eyes
It was the guy from the train!!!!
"Two cups of coffee, both black"
he said when he got to the counter, she could recall his name Lenore or whatever it was, but this guy in front of her seemed so different from the pervert in the train, it was as if the coldness which was reserved in his eyes spread through his whole body. She rang the kitchen and made to show him to a table but he declined ordering for take away.
Nodding silently she sat back on the stool and resumed looking through the register, but couldn't concentrate as Lenore was watching her like a hawk does it's prey.
