Chapter 2 - Audition Approved

"Wow, bravo!" William Jack exclaims as he sits up properly. "That's a wonderful performance from you, and you got a yes from me!" he says. "Thank you," Amara smiles, turning her attention to face Stephanie Roland, who is smiling at her too. "I can see your eagerness to show the world your talent, and that's a beautiful performance from you, so you got a yes from me too," Stephanie Roland says. "Thank you!" Amara squeals, clasping her mouth shut as she looks at Fiona Wilfred, who is not smiling at her. "Well, you did well, but there's still a need for you to top your acting style, as being an actress is no joke. You tried, and I am also looking forward to working with you! And you got a yes from me too," Fiona says, and Amara beams with joy. "Thank you, thank you, thank you all, judges!" Amara squeals as the three judges give her a yes. "You're welcome. Check with the receptionist, and she will inform you of the date prior to when you will be resuming here with us and other things you need to know about signing a contract to work with us here in Lonald Entertainment House; thank you," William says. "Okay," Amara smiles and finally exits the auditioning room, smiling beautifully to herself. The next person waiting for an audition smiles at her, as she sees joy spread on Amara's face compared to the previous lady who stepped out before her. "You can go in now for your audition," Amara says to the woman, walking to the receptionist's desk to collect her contract letter. "You're Amara Davis, right?" the female receptionist asks her with a faint smile on her face. "Yes," Amara responds, standing nervously in front of the huge desk. "Here's your contract, and you're to resume with us on Monday if you agree to our acting policy. The amount you will be paid as a newbie actress has already been stated here, so once you resume on Monday with us, it means you have agreed with our terms. Here, drop your email and address so we can give you a call over the weekend to know how you're faring," the receptionist says. "Thank you," Amara responds, collecting the pen and writing down her email address and phone number. Just then, two handsome men walk into the grand floor, and the receptionists stand up to greet them, as there are still many other contestants waiting to be auditioned. The Lonald Entertainment House is a gigantic four-story building. "Good morning, boss," the female receptionist greets. Amara pauses writing and slightly tilts her head to see the two men who walk behind her. The security men's presence is much stronger in this entertainment building than in the previous houses Amara has applied to, where one of the bosses dared to shamelessly request that she must sleep with him. Amara meets eyes with the two men's gazes on her. The first man smiles at her and the receptionist's greetings, while the second man stares at Amara coldly and ignores the receptionist who greets him. They walk away, taking the elevator and going up to the third floor. Amara swallows upon seeing how the second man stares at her like she was a zombie. His eyes turn colder as he looks away from her to the receptionist, not even responding to any of the receptionist's greetings. But she saw how the first man had smiled at them before they both entered the elevator that took them up. Amara turns and looks at some of the young ladies sitting and waiting to be auditioned. She hears them gossiping. "Don't you know who those two men are?" one of the two young ladies sitting asks. The second sitting beside her responds, "No, I don't. Who are they?" "Well, you see that one who didn't respond to the receptionist's greetings? He's the CEO, while the other one who smiles is the CEO's younger brother and only brother, from the gossip magazines I read. The CEO is still single even at 30 years of age," the first lady murmurs. Amara swallows, listening to their hot gossip. "Yes, ma'am! We're through with you. Or are you waiting for someone else?" the first female receptionist asks Amara. She has given Amara the contract letter of resumption. "No... I mean nothing. I'm not waiting for anyone," Amara responds, turning to leave. "That's alright, you can leave, as our monitor cameras are monitoring what's going on in here. So thank you for coming, and we're looking forward to seeing you resume with us on Monday." "Okay." Amara gulps and hastily exits the building. She would have loved to listen to the full gossip from the two ladies discussing about the CEO. Anyway, Amara makes her way out of the building, walking home and checking out with the security men at the exit gate. Meanwhile, Emeka Lonald enters into the third-floor hallway with his younger brother, Arinze Lonald. "Hey, Big bro, did you see all those beauties downstairs that came to audition? My goodness, if I were in charge here, I would just be changing the ladies I sleep with like pants every day," Arinze says. Emeka's face twists in irritation, before replying, "Stop that, Arinze, and know that there are many séxually transmitted diseases out there. I have no business with my female workers or staff, and that's the truth. They're only here to act and nothing else, as we have music labels, new actresses, and actors. They don't dare to sexualize me." "Really? Are you gay?" Arinze asks. Emeka bursts out laughing, replying, "You must be joking, Arinze. So because I choose to stay single, you now assume I'm gay?" Emeka shakes his head and walks into his office on the third floor, as they have the music department on the fourth floor and some other interviewing and broadcasting rooms on the second and third floors too. "No, not that. Just that I'm quite surprised to hear you say that. Well, I know you haven't introduced any lady to me yet, but that doesn't mean that you don't sleep with any of them, or don't you?" Arinze asks. Emeka replies, "No, I don't, and that's the honest truth," as he enters his office and walks to take his seat on his executive office chair. Arinze laughs and steps in too, replying, "You must be joking, brother?" Emeka doesn't respond to his question. "You mean with all these beauties in here, you haven't slept with any of them yet?" Arinze asks in disbelief. Just then, a knock is heard on the office door. "Come in," Emeka replies to the knock, ignoring his younger brother. He knows Arinze flirts with many young women and is even in a polyamorous relationship, saying he loves all kinds of women. Emeka has advised him, "You cannot love all kinds of women but have to choose one," but Arinze never listens. Their parents got tired of him, as his records and flirtations with different ladies are always on the front pages of media magazines. Their father is a politician contesting for the head of state, the more reason they're both rich. Emeka owns one of the mega-entertainment houses, while Arinze owns a real estate management. Emeka shakes his head as his office door pushes open, and his secretary, Ms. Silvia Matthew, enters to see him.
