Chapter 1: The Woman Without A Name
The city never truly slept. Even at two o'clock in the morning, the streets shimmered beneath neon lights as cars drifted through the rain-soaked avenues. Hidden among thousands of strangers, a young woman in a black trench coat walked with quiet confidence, her silver suitcase rolling silently behind her. To everyone around her, she was Victoria Hale, a wealthy investor arriving for a business conference. By sunrise, Victoria Hale would no longer exist. She entered the luxurious Grand Meridian Hotel without attracting attention. The receptionist smiled politely, checked her passport, and handed over a room key. "Welcome, Ms. Hale." She returned the smile. "Thank you." Ten minutes later, the room was empty. The elegant dress was folded neatly on the bed. The passport had been shredded into tiny pieces. A blonde wig lay inside the trash bin, while expensive makeup disappeared into a hidden compartment of the suitcase. Standing before the mirror was an entirely different woman. Dark hair. Brown eyes. Simple jeans and a hoodie. The wealthy investor had vanished. Isabelle Carter adjusted the baseball cap over her face before slipping out through the emergency stairwell. She never used the front entrance twice. Across the street, inside an unmarked black SUV, three men watched the hotel through binoculars. "Target entered twenty-three minutes ago." "Has she come out?" "No." The oldest among them frowned. "Keep watching." Hours passed. Nothing. Finally, the team stormed the room. Empty. No fingerprints. No DNA. No clues. Only silence. One of the agents clenched his fists. "She escaped again." Their commander stared at the shredded passport scattered across the floor. "This makes the twelfth identity she's abandoned this year." He spoke the next words almost in disbelief. "Who is she?" No one answered. Because no one knew. ... Several blocks away, Isabelle blended effortlessly into the morning crowd. Office workers hurried to their jobs while street vendors prepared breakfast for customers. She looked like any ordinary young woman. Invisible. Exactly as she intended. Her phone vibrated once. A single encrypted message appeared. They found Victoria. Proceed to Identity Fourteen. She deleted the message without replying. Within seconds, the phone erased itself. No evidence remained. She entered a quiet café and ordered coffee. The elderly waitress smiled warmly. "The usual?" Isabelle smiled back. "Please." The woman had known her for almost three years. She believed Isabelle was a freelance writer named Emma. Another identity. Another carefully built life. For a brief moment, Isabelle allowed herself to enjoy the peaceful silence. Ordinary conversations filled the room, and laughter echoed from a nearby table. It almost felt normal. Then every television screen inside the café suddenly switched to breaking news. "Authorities continue searching for the mysterious woman linked to multiple international investigations. Security agencies believe she has used more than a dozen identities across several countries. Despite years of surveillance, officials have been unable to determine her real name or nationality." Isabelle calmly sipped her coffee. No fear crossed her face. Only quiet amusement. They were searching for a woman they believed was running from them. What none of them knew was that she had never been hiding out of fear.
