PROLOGUE
My name is Ayana Leif “Aya” De Torres, 17 years old. I am now in the Senior High Department taking the HUMSS strand at Corinthians Academy, where I studied in Junior High. Since I am a top student, I need to act accordingly. A role model is nothing but a role model.
I was about to forget the things that made me a fool in the past.
“Confessing?!”
“Damn it!”
“Did I really do that?!”
My mind was blowing like crazy when those appear to be my thoughts. It’s been almost three years when I confessed to him by a letter I rashly wrote, but—
What should I do!! I keep on thinking him!
Well thank goodness, I was all alone inside the academy’s comfort room to look pitiful.
With my both hands I recently rested on the sink’s edge, I faced myself directly in front of the wide mirror and took a deep sigh. I opened my eyes and met my reflection again.
There were blushes in my cheeks that I’ve seen so clearly due to the bright lightbulbs of the comfort room.
Why on earth are you blushing, Aya?!
I tried to wipe them, however, they only get red.
In my second try, I gave myself some air by waving my hands like a fan. Yet, my cheeks were still red.
While doing the latter again, I heard unfamiliar voices outside. They seemed like they were coming to where I was.
“Shocks! They can’t see me like this”.
I returned to my “very” formal position and immediately opened the sink. I soaked my hands and washed my face. Before they got inside, I was already wiping my wet face with some tissues.
That’s how fast I am actually.
“Have you heard? He’s back. Many have thought he transferred overseas”.
I overheard something I shouldn’t hear.
The two seemed from the HUMSS section, too. But, I wasn’t that familiar with my batch mates from other rooms that’s why they look new to me.
“Who? OMG. The pretty face of our school?”, asked by one of them.
The other student in her short brown hair with a white puffy hairband now looking closely in the mirror replied.
“Yeah. I guess he likes Corinthians Academy better than the other, which is why he’s staying here until he finishes Grade 12”.
“Didn’t you even find him cold now? Because I can still feel like I’m frozen everytime he passes by. I mean, we all got frozen even the numbs”.
Perhaps, they were talking about Ceejay. But yes, what they’re saying was true. Ceejay was like that. Everytime he’d walk in hallways (by himself or not) having his cold vibes, most female students would stop and go to corner without letting their sights out of him. They typically would look like frozen statues in seconds.
“It’s his charisma, you know. He’s the cold heartthrob they are referring”.
The student beside me who was combing her hair agreed. Hence, I was still overhearing what they were talking.
“But some old students here said he wasn’t like that before”.
It’s a tale, I supposed”.
The last words were said in a lower voice. Yet, they can still be heard.
“Oh, I remember!”.
What the other girl just exclaimed gave me a terrible feeling. Her reaction seemed desperately ready to tell something so embarrassing.
Please don’t speak any further. Please.
“An unknown girl from this school confessed her feelings to him three years ago. And now he is like that. It’s not the whole story yet. There were sayings that the girl went from the same class where he was enrolled in Junior High. Probably, even until now. That’s what I know”.
“Such a bad thing. What kind of confession would make someone like…Ooh— it’s cold”.
My conscience hit me again.
The two already left the comfort room before I knew. I faced myself to realize:
I know I shouldn’t have written that I liked him in the first place. How could I? But I just wanted to know if he has the same feelings for me, is that bad? And what the heck these blushes don't leave my cheeks?!
