Summer Love [ChenJi]

It's 25th of May. year 2009. A 6 year old kid named Jisung was busy playing on the sand pit in their backyard. He digs the sand, stirring it up to build a small castle. The sun was shining brightly but it's not that hot. The kid wipes the forming drops of sweat on his forehead with the back of his hand. He looked intently at the sand castle he built. "It's missing something," he said. He was about to go inside their house when a taxi stopped by next door. Two unfamiliar faces can be seen above the low fence. They look like foreigners but Jisung is certain that they are not Koreans. The couple unloaded some luggage. He assumed that they are just about to move in the house next door. He heard a voice of a kid speaking in foreign language. "He could be their son," he said to himself. The kid was a year older than him, with small eyes, pale skin, and soft puffy cheeks. The mother called the kid by his name, motioning him to come over quickly. Jisung didn't understand what the mom has said but he assumed that Chenle was the kid's name. The kid sensed Jisung's presence, glancing where Jisung is. He smile and waved at him. "Hello!", the kid greeted in English which as far as the little kid's understanding will easily figure out that the person greeted him. Jisung shyly waved back at Chenle and quickly sneaked away. Jisung went back to the pit, collecting the plastic tools and placing them in the bucket. He was a bit excited, a new neighbor just moved in and the kid seemed nice. "He seems friendly though". Meanwhile, Chenle was busy fixing his stuff and toys he had brought from China. He's got a room full of his prized toys, cars, planes. lego, he's got them. However, he chose to bring only those that he treasures so much. It was a weird feeling. It wasn't his first time on other countries but the thought that they'll be staying in Korea for a long time kept bothering him. "I wonder how grandpa and grandma are doing. I hope they are always safe and healthy." He sighed. "A few years, it wouldn't be that bad, I guess?" He looked through the window pane, staring at the lawn outside. Chenle was a bright and friendly kid. But being in a new country means adjustment. He can't speak Korean, though he could be confident that he can speak English. He worries if he can make friends. The kid in the neighborhood popped in his head. "He seems nice," he thought. After all, he's new in this place and he needs a friend who is a native to help him familiarize things and places in there. A new neighbor and maybe a new friendship will start in this summer.
