My name is Alice. I am a vampire but not just any vampire, I am a Vampire Princess. My parents are the current King and Queen of the Vampire Kingdom. One day when I was about 10 years old, we were ambushed when we were on our way to the wedding of a friend of my father's. In that ambush, my father died and my mother was left traumatized because she lost her mate. My friend James, who is my personal body guard and close friend helped me keep my mother safe but the damage was done. At the young age of 10 years old, I became the substitute Queen and made all the decisions that my mother could not do. I had been trained by my father when ever we had a chance and I was a fast learner so I knew exactly what I had to do. I reigned for 10 years and during that time I became strong and very cold-hearted to anyone else except my family and close friends.  I sit up in my bed and as I stretch I begin to think about the dream I was having of my days as the substitute Queen. I smiled as I looked at my clock but that smile was gone as soon as I saw the time. I quickly got out of bed and began to get dressed. I rush out of my apartment and ran to my car. I woke up late thanks to that dream and now I have to get to my job at the nursing home. I look at my watch as I speed down my street and it shows I have about 30 minutes to get there. I keep focused and before I know it I’m there. I park quickly and run inside the front door. Jane greets me with a smile and says, “You barely made it.” I laugh and say, “Unfortunately, I had to miss breakfast.” She giggles then says, “I’ll call Derrick to get an extra order of breakfast.” I sigh thankfully and say, “I’ll make you lunch tomorrow.” She said excitedly, “Derrick is going to love that.” I chuckled then said, “He’s not getting one.” She waves her hand at me and I make my way to the machine to clock in. As I clock in I hear an annoying voice say, “You’re late.” I take my card out and say as I show it to her, “I’m not late.” She scoffs and I walk past her. Jane walks to me and says, “You left Mandy fuming.” I smile then say, “I don’t really care about her anymore.” She giggles then says, “I would love to do that to her.” I shook my head then said, “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” She sighs then says, “Yeah, you’re right, I’ll probably end up losing my job.” I roll my eyes then say as I look at my patient list, “Well, let me know when breakfast is here.” She giggled then said, “I’ll tell Derrick to take it to you.” I sighed then walked away.  I began to make my rounds and as I did most of my patients were still asleep. I was helping one patient wash her face and mouth when Derrick barged in. As soon as he did the old lady nearly had a heart attack from the sudden shock. I quickly grabbed her and managed to steady her then said, “Are you okay, Mrs. Brown?” She held tightly to me then said, “Thank God you were here.” I gave her a smile then said, “Let’s rinse your mouth then I will deal with this troublesome punk, how does that sound?” She smiled then said, “That sounds splendid.” Derrick gave us an apologetic look then said, “Sorry.” Mrs. Brown ignored his apology and I rolled my eyes at him.  Once I had Mrs. Brown in her bed, I turned to look at Derrick who was standing by the door looking like a scared puppy. I crossed my arms and said, “Now, why would you come here and scare us like that?” He looked up at me then said, “I didn’t mean to scare you young ladies. I simply forgot to knock.” Mrs. Brown frowned and that was my cue to be more mean. I hid my smile then I said, “Well, now you have to go get us some cranberry juice and Mrs. Brown’s breakfast.” He sighed loudly but nodded and walked out. Mrs. Brown was smiling and she said, “I think he likes you.” I looked at her shocked then said, “But I thought that you wanted me to marry your grandson?” She smiled more brightly then said, “That would be wonderful but he might have already found someone it seems.” As she had said the last part her smile vanished, I smiled and said softly, “Do you want me to call him?” She shook her head then said, “No need, I like it here and seeing him will only make me sad.” I nodded my head and sat next to her to do her hair. As I brushed her hair I hummed a tune that she loved and she hummed with me. I felt her peace and calmness suddenly rise. She had a huge smile as she looked at the door. I curiously turned to where her head had turned and her gaze was glued. I saw a handsome man holding a bunch of roses and a huge smile. His gaze was on Mrs. Brown but as if he could sense me, his hazel eyes landed on me and they seemed to change color from hazel to a dark color. I was mesmerized by his eyes and it took the sudden interruption from Derrick to make me focus once again on anything but that man. I looked at Derrick then said, “You brought her breakfast?” He glared at the man and Mrs. Brown began to laugh. I looked at her with a gentle smile and couldn’t help being happy for her. I finished her hair and Derrick had put the table near her bed and placed her breakfast on it. I asked Mrs. Brown, “Do you want me to feed you?” She was about to say something when the man said, “There is no need, I can do that for her.” Our eyes once again met and I was once again lost in them. I felt uneasy around this man and I quickly diverted my eyes from him. I turned to Mrs. Brown then said, “Is that okay?”  She smiled then said, “Alice, this is my grandson,  Sebastian.” I turned to the man and said, “Nice to meet you, sir.” He extended his arm and gave me his hand to shake. I took it hesitantly and he said once I took it, “It’s a pleasure.” I felt a spark as soon as our hands touched and it traveled all over my body. I felt butterflies in my stomach and I was becoming aroused. I quickly let go of him and said, “Well, I will leave you two alone.” I got up and said to Derrick, “Let’s go, Derrick.” He grabbed my hand and began to drag me out. As soon as we were out of the room I said as I took my hand back, “Don’t ever touch me again.” He frowned, then said, “Why are you so angry with me?” I looked at him furiously then said, “You might have forgotten but you forcefully stole a kiss from me. I don’t take that lightly and if you aren’t in jail at this very moment it’s because I like your sister.” He sighed deeply then said before walking away from me, “I gave her your breakfast, go eat.” I glared at him as he walked away then I made my way to the staff room. Sebastian As I walked in to the nursing home that my grandmother had chosen to go to I sigh loudly as I see the staff walking around. I could definitely give my grandmother way better care than this. I walk to the front desk and I sign in then head to her room. As I walk I can smell a faint smell of cinnamon and apples. I found this smell very delicious and has me happy and excited. As I get closer to my grandmother's room I can smell it get stronger. I hear my grandmother talking with someone and I hear her say, "Do you want me to call him?" My grandmother says, " No need, I like it here and seeing him will only make me sad.” I feel my chest tighten hearing that my grandmother feels sad when she thinks of us. I'm pulled out of my thought by humming that calms me down instantly. I slowly open the door and I see my grandmother with her eyes closed humming along with the nurse doing her hair. I can't see the woman's face but her voice is beautiful and the navy scrubs she is wearing hug her body nicely and I am enjoying the view of her side profile. I look at my grandmother and she is smiling brightly. I smile at her but I notice that the nurse is now looking towards me. I turn to her and my eyes meet hers. She has the most beautiful dark brown eyes that match the rest of her face. She has plum pink lips and she has an oval shaped face but all her features are perfection on her. Our eyes are connected and I feel myself drawn to her but before I can say anything a man says form behind me, "Excuse me, I need to get through." Her eyes turn to him and she says very casually, “You brought her breakfast?” He walked past but he was glaring at me and it made my grandmother laugh so I let it slide. I saw the nurse smile as she looked at my grandmother and I knew I was done for. Her smile seemed to radiate light and made me see stars around her. She finished doing my grandmother's hair and the other guy had set up a table and placed her breakfast on it. She asked my grandmother, "Do you want me to feed you?" My grandmother looked at her and was about to say something but I wanted to talk to her so I said, "There is no need, I can do that for her.” Our eyes once again met and I was once again lost in them. I her hesitant look as she looked away and back to my grandmother as she asked, “Is that okay?” My grandmother smiled then said, “Alice, this is my grandson,  Sebastian.” As soon as I heard her name I thought it was perfect for her but I was lost again when her eyes met mine as she said, “Nice to meet you, sir.” I hate that she called me sir but now I want to touch her so I extend my arm and give her my hand to shake. She took it hesitantly and I said once I took it, “It’s a pleasure.” I felt my wolf stir and sparks shot up my arm as our hands touched and it traveled all over my body. My wolf shouted in my head excitedly, 'Mate! Mate!' She quickly let go of me and said, “Well, I will leave you two alone.” I was in so much shock that I couldn't say anything as she got up and said to the man, “Let’s go, Derrick.” He grabbed her hand and began to drag her out.  I felt my wolf itching to get out but I needed to calm down. He was human and I was not about to fight a human boy that had no chance against me. My grandmother laughed then said, "Are you okay, sweetie?" I smiled then said, "She's a vampire." I wanted to smack myself for saying that first but it caused my grandmother to laugh again. I smiled at her sheepishly but froze as she said, "Is she special to you?" I looked at her then said, "What do you mean?" She smiled then said, "You two were acting very weird." I smiled as I rub the back of my head then say, "She's my mate." My grandmother smiles widely and says, "I wanted to play matchmaker between the two of you." My eyes widened then I chuckled as I heard her say that. I felt happy about finding out that my grandmother already loved her. I walked up to her and gave her a tight hug and kiss before I sat next to her to feed her breakfast.
