Selena held my hand.
I took a few deep breaths to calm myself. “Your mother is dead?” I asked, trying to clarify further.
He nodded. “Yes.”
There was a hint of guilt in his eyes.
“Okay,” I whispered. “So who was that woman? The one we went to visit the other time?”
“An actress.”
I blinked. “An actress?”
I couldn’t believe it.
“Yeah, but she’s still part of my family.”
I rolled my eyes.
Did he think that things would automatically become okay if he said that she was part of his family?
“You had someone act as your dead mom?” I continued, still finding it difficult to process what I was hearing. “And you also added that she was sick?”
The entire thing actually made me feel sick.
