Chapter Two
The engagement party was a success, and a date was fixed for the exchange of vows.
My parents couldn't have been more pleased, especially my father.
The marriage was set to take place immediately after the next full moon, and so preparations were in order.
On the shores of my room, my mind went back to the dance with Andrew.
“He's a great guy,” I thought to myself.
“I like him already. He seemed like a gentleman”
“He doesn't look like one who is acknowledged to be the devil,” I said this to pacify my fears about the rumors.
“Devils aren't cute, are they?”
I finally found sleep in the early hours of the morning because I could not sweep away the thoughts of the previous day.
Andrew!!!!” A loud voice echoed.
Mr. Marius Matei is a multi-billionaire and the second in command in his clan. Just like my father, he is obsessed with the union between his son and me.
“Why the hell are you yelling my name this morning? Andrew questioned with a sleepy voice.
Andrew and his father have what you will call a formal relationship. The type that is too formal for two people who share the same blood.
“What time is it, young man?” his father snapped.
He looked up at the wall clock that was hung just by the door.
"It's 9 a.m. already, and you're still in bed. Mr. Marius did all the talking while Andrew lay back on the bed listening to his father with a nonchalant attitude.
"You're still in your pajamas?"
"Yeah, because I'm still in bed," he gave a quick and arrogant response.
"You were supposed to visit your bride-to-be and see how she's faring," Mr. Marius voiced out, but not in a loud voice.
“I thought…” he was interrupted by his father, who was already losing his patience
“You thought, what, Andrew?”
“I thought that I’d get the day off since last night was the engagement party you organized”
Laughing hysterically, “You must be a Joker. I organized the party, and you are the one to get a day off?”Mr. Marius asked sarcastically
Andrew had nothing more to say to his father. He managed to sit up on his bed while looking away.
With disgust in his voice, “You had better get into your washroom and dress up. I need you at the office at exactly 10:00 a.m. " he banged the door loudly on his way out.
Mr. Marius had what he called a mini office in the basement of his room. He had asked Andrew to meet him there, so he had no option but to wait for his stubborn son.
"Here's your coffee, sir," one of the maids said.
"Where is Andrew? Have you seen him around?" He asked as he sipped from the cup.
"He just left the house, sir; I wasn't informed of his destination," she replied innocently.
"Left the house!!" He yelled the very moment he heard what the servant had said.
"Out!" The servant left immediately to avoid further issues.
…….
In my house
I have never touched a man before; my mother made sure of that, and now I don't know what to do with my prince charming seated in front of me.
Maybe he would spare me if he had someone else to satisfy him, or he probably doesn't take an interest in sleeping around.
I was scaring myself with unrealistic thoughts, and I didn't like it.
"What's going on in your head?" Andrew asked after long minutes of staring at me.
"D..do you have another wife... Your Highness? I stammered.
I shouldn't have asked that question. It was none of my business if he had other women. I wanted to ask for the reasons why he was called the devil, but another question escaped my mouth.
Mother warned me to be careful about how I conversed with him, but I needed to know what awaited me.
He turned and focused his gaze on me.
Did he get angry? I wondered.
He stood up from his seat, abandoning the juice that was served.
Walking up to me, he leaned so close that I could hear his breath; his perfume, which smelled like elegance, penetrated through my nose, and for a while, my brain stopped functioning.
'Oh my God, he smells so nice
"No, I don't." his voice brought me back to reality.
I felt a bit of relief when I shouldn't have. This means I will have to spend the nights with him, and this thought brought shivers to my skin.
"But I have a lot of sugar babies," he finished his statement.
Why didn't I think of that? He's a prince, very cute, and probably intelligent. Of course, girls would be after him.
Whatever, at least I'm not sleeping with him yet.
"You don't seem perturbed. Are you comfortable with it?" He asked, still standing very close to me.
I could barely think straight at that moment.
"It's not for me to like or dislike your opinions, your highness," I said, trying to save my breath.
"Well, you're my bride. I guess you should have your opinions as well."
What are his plans? Why is he so free with me? Is he interested in knowing what I think about him messing with other women? Different questions popped into my mind.
"Your Highness," I started, " I'm just your bride, which automatically makes me your mate. Messing with other women is a great disrespect to me," I said while avoiding any sort of eye contact with him.
"Oh, that's right, but not until we're married. I will keep up my games," he whispered into my ear while laughing out so loud that my mum had to give me a call to be sure that all was well with me.
"Did I scare you?" He said again after the silence prolonged.
"No, Your Highness," I tried as much as possible to maintain the formalities.
" Well, you shouldn't be scared of anything yet." he looked in the direction of where I was seated. " Do you mind walking with me in the woods?" He asked with his hands extended to me.
A sudden feeling of fear overcame me, and I immediately voiced out my initially intended question.
" Are you the Devil?"
"You will find out soonest," he smiled, but this wasn't a cute one. Everything went dark, and I ceased to move.
