📘 EPISODE 1: That Fateful Afternoon
I never imagined that a simple plan to visit my aunt’s house for fun and gossip would turn into the darkest day of my life. It started so lighthearted. I just wanted to see my cousins, laugh with them, and share stories like we always did. I felt safe—family is supposed to be the safest place in the world, right? I walked over to Tita Lyn’s home with a happy heart, expecting nothing more than ordinary joy.
But when I arrived, the house felt strangely quiet and empty. Tita Lyn was not there—something came up unexpectedly, and she could not return home that day. As I stepped into their yard, I saw my Uncle Kirk standing alone in a corner, smoking. Just seeing him there made a strange, uneasy feeling crawl up my skin. Still, I told myself he was family, so I ignored the feeling and walked past him into the house, looking for my cousins. But they were nowhere to be found either.
Then Uncle Kirk called my name, saying he had something important to tell me. I admit—I was a little vain and careful about my appearance that day. I fixed my hair and checked my face in the mirror first; I didn’t want to look messy or unpolished even for a moment. It sounds small now, but it shows how innocent I was—how I expected nothing but respect and normal behavior inside a relative’s home.
I went to him. What he said next froze my blood. He offered me money—if I would let him kiss me and do far worse things to me. It felt like my soul left my body. I stood there, stunned, unable to believe my ears.
But shock turned to terror. I screamed clearly, “No! I will not do that!” Tears burst from my eyes instantly. I struggled with every ounce of strength I had, trying to tear myself free from his grip. But he was bigger and stronger. He grabbed my right hand roughly and dragged me hard toward a bedroom inside the house. He pushed me so hard I fell back onto the bed, trembling and weeping helplessly. I fought harder than I ever had in my life—I refused to let him take my dignity, my body, my soul.
When he tried to remove his clothes and reach for mine to violate me, I found one last desperate burst of courage. I kicked him right in the stomach with all my might! He gasped and doubled over in pain, giving me just enough time to run for my life. I ran as fast as my legs could carry out, breathless, terrified, and crying silently to the Lord: “Thank You, God! Thank You for saving me!”
As I stumbled out of the house, I saw my younger sister Joy coming toward me. Her face filled with shock when she saw me—shaking uncontrollably, tears streaming down, my eyes wide with horror. I told her everything—every terrifying detail of what had happened in that house that should have been safe.
