CHAPTER 4
Returning to my apartment I hugged myself with delight, still absolutely thrilled at getting an apartment I so loved but I’d had to use all my cunning and quite a lot of money to acquire it.
Sitting in the hospital canteen, just before my discharge I’d overheard Nurse Debbie discussing with a friend an apartment on Cranmer Road that sounded ideal. As part of my rehabilitation I was now allowed out for a few hours unsupervised which gave me the opportunity to contact the agents to arrange an immediate viewing. I’d fallen in love the second I’d seen it but the agent turned out to be a principled young man from an old-fashioned firm.
‘I think it only fair to let you know, Miss Theakston that we have another viewing booked for three o’clock; a second viewing in fact.’
