Chapter 4 - Reversed?

612 Words
I quickly slid into my car, a red Maruti Suzuki Swift Hatchback, after departing in a hurried manner from the hall. These sudden string of events caused a storm of emotions for me. My sadness was threatening to consume me, but I too several deep breaths to calm down. ‘ He chose her, he chose her!’ I thought as my sadness turned into a growing rage. I slammed my hands down on the wheel in my fit of rage. I can’t believe he chose her, he was supposed to be my mate,’ I angrily thought, ‘ and she, she took everything away from me.’ My hand switched on the ignition with the flick of the wrist. Scowling, I randomly thought about how I needed food in this moment. Food usually calmed my irrational angers and let me sit down and think about situations. My foot stomped down on the accelerator, causing a sudden jolt backwards. I just realised I had forgotten to check behind me, crap! Hearing a masculine shout of surprise, I mentally braced myself for a yelling. I spotted a very angry looking someone walked toward the driver’s window in my side mirror. I cursed myself for my irrational decision. He knocked on my window, I rolled it down in response. I slowly turned, procrastinating for the moment, and came into eye contact at his sky blue eyes. He had a flirtatious aura surrounding him and I rolled my eyes, this is not happening. “ Do you know what you nearly did?” He flirtatiously asked with an undertone of anger. His voice was deep and full. ‘Oh god, I cannot deal with this right now. Especially since food, my haven, was only a five minute drive away,’ I thought. “Reversed so I could exit the parking lot,” I exasperated with slight sarcasm. I glared at him with an annoyed expression, hoping that he would just walk away. “ Reversed and nearly ran me over,” he calmly corrected. I was surprised by his change of tone even though it still had a flirtatious touch to it. “ Sorry,” I apologised, hoping to end that would end conversation. He turned to walk away, but hesitated. ‘What does he want now?’ I thought as he turns right back to face me. “If you don’t mind, I would like to take you out for food,” he asks, completely out of the blue. I was taken back by this offer. ‘What could go wrong?’ I asked myself, I couldn’t believe I was actually thinking about saying yes. ‘Possibly the fact that he could be psychotic murderer,’ I instantly answered myself. He looked at me, waiting patiently for my answer. ‘Why the heck not? A distraction would be great due to the recent events and I can’t turn down free food,’ I mentally reasoned with myself. “Sure,” I answered. “But I’m driving to the place because I kind of think you might be a psychotic killer.” He seemed surprised at my proposal and my sudden assumption before walking around and hopping into the passenger seat. “Make sure to check behind you, you don’t want to nearly hit anyone for the second time tonight,” he teased, showing a flirty smirk while quickly clicking in his seat belt. The smirking annoyed me. 'Just think about the free food,’ I mentally said to myself before driving out of the parking lot. This was going to be a long night.
