Chapter 1 - Who is he?

“MATE,” my wolf happily shouted.

I turned around quickly hoping to catch a glimpse of him. I was shocked by his dominating appearance when my eyes landed on him. He had a large toned body with muscle that rippled through his tight grey shirt. I blushed at thinking about it. This is it I thought, it’s my alpha! I tried to look at his face but a shadow was casted over it! I sighed in frustration, I had to see my mate’s face! I only could see his dark brown hair which looked like it was curly. I was trying to place the features on his face when suddenly a dreadful ringing filled the air. Oh no, I thought as I came into realisation.

I woke up with a jolt. That had to be real was the first thought that popped in my head. I smiled at the thought of the alpha mate in my dream. Glancing at the alarm clock that ruined my dream, I hammered the button to stop the dreadful ringing. ‘6:45am’ it read as I groggily stood up and began to start my day.

“Good morning mum,” I greeted joyfully.

“ Good morning Claire, what’s got you into a cheery mood today?” She asked while making pancakes.

“ I think I’m going to meet my mate today,” I answered.

“ Really? How do you know?” She questioned curiously.

“ This might sound silly but he was in my dream,” I embarrassingly replied. It sounded so cliche when I said it and it made me question my belief.

“ You really think you are going to meet him today?”

I nodded. “ I think it’s a sign.” Okay now it definitely sounds too good to be true.

“Whatever you believe, hopefully he’s an alpha,” my mother joked with a slight undertone of seriousness and was hardly noticeably tinged with triumphant. “Also please pack some museli bars that Aunt Brenda made for you for school.”

“ Aunt Brenda is not our aunt,” a groggy voice corrected.

I turned to see my little sister, Serena, at the kitchen door. “ But she’s basically an aunt” I said to her. “She’s mum’s best friend and was the only person who treated us nicely when we first joined the pack.”

Serena rolled her eyes, she hated that I was right.

I glanced at the clock, oh s**t, it’s 7:45am already?! “ See you at training Rena and bye mum,” I quickly spoke as I headed out the door after grabbing the on the go breakfast of muesli bars. Taking a bite, I was faced with a mouthful of flavours, sweet, sour, tangy and salty. Wow that is some good stuff.

Who is he? I thought throughout the day. This mysterious man occcupied my mind the whole day even when I arrived at the pack house for training. Demitrey, my instructor, greeted me at the door.

“Claire, always on time. Wait for the others, you’ll lead the run to the training grounds, and also take over as instructor for this session,” he directed.

I nodded while internally groaning. I could not focus today due to a constant lookout for my mate and making matters worse, I had to take over an entire training session? I hated how Demitrey always made me take over because I was the oldest, I was looking to train not teach. Nevertheless I started planning the route to the training grounds. “ Three kilometres sounds good right?” I asked to make sure.

“ That’s less than usual, bump it up to four?” He suggested. “By the way, there is an alpha coming today from the Red Moon Pack to find his mate, he is doing this to all the packs because he hasn’t found her yet. He will be at the training grounds main hall today as well as all the pack females.” Demitrey added abruptly as I was thinking about the training schduele..

I stopped everything that was going on in my brain as my mind raced to the single possibility that had occupied it the whole day. It was my mate, he was coming and he was looking for me! My wolf howled happily at the thought. This alpha was also the alpha of the largest wolf pack in North America. I couldn’t contain my excitement, my alpha is going to be here and my dream had predicted it. I was so enveloped in my thoughts that I didn’t notice the others coming and my sister arriving last.

“ Serena! Why are you late? You should more organised, why can’t you be more like your sister?” Demitrey shouted at her, which brought me back to reality .

Serena just glared at him then me. What was that glare about, I wondered. I quickly dismissed the random rudeness from my sister as I returned to my thoughts about my soon to be alpha mate.
