Walking down the street of my new pack, I kept thinking that I couldn't let anyone discover my secret. If anyone found out, I would be chased out or sold as a slave. I was just lucky my uncle was nothing like my mother and stepfather. My uncle was a kind and gentle man who never judged others because he didn't know what they went through. My uncle Quinn runs a troubled youth center in the pack for all were-creatures seeking help.

I was ripped out of my thoughts by a honking car, and the next thing I knew, I was flying through the air, landing on the asphalt and slipping into a black abyss as I struggled to keep my eyes open. Before succumbing to the darkness, I heard four faraway voices.

"Xai, what did you do?!"

Chapter One: Start at the Beginning
As I watched my Grandchildren run around the hidden waterfall in our home pack, I couldn't help but think of the past and what led to this very moment in my life. This was a moment I would never have pictured in the past that seemed so far away now. I have no regrets looking at what the past has brought me. All I know is my past self would have thought me dead by now and had no hopes of finding her mate, let alone having four of them with a loving family. But let's start at the beginning, shall we? *** Wisterias POV 17 years old Walking down the street of my new pack, I kept thinking that I couldn't let anyone discover my secret. If anyone found out, I would be chased out or sold as a slave. I was just lucky my uncle was nothing like my mother and stepfather. My uncle was a kind and gentle man who never judged others because he didn't know what they went through. My uncle Quinn runs a troubled youth center in the pack for all supernaturals seeking help. I was ripped out of my thoughts by a honking car, and the next thing I knew, I was flying through the air, landing on the asphalt and slipping into a black abyss as I struggled to keep my eyes open. Before succumbing to the darkness, I heard four faraway voices. "Xai, what did you do?!" "I didn't do anything; she just walked into the middle of the road!" "Well, don't just stand there, you i***t. Call the hospital!!!" "MATE!" And then silence and darkness consumed me. *** When I opened my eyes again, I recognized I was in a hospital with many machines attached to me. When I looked around the room, I jumped as I saw four guys standing at the foot of the bed staring at me intensely. "Who are you, and why are you in my hospital room?!" I exclaimed in a panic. They all looked like they were conversing over mind link with their glazed-over eyes. As I sighed, irritated at them ignoring my question, I removed the wires and tubes attached to me and tried getting out of bed. Immediately all for men rushed over and got me back in bed. Looking closer at them, I realized they were brothers, quadruplets at that. They all looked exactly alike. They had chiseled jawlines, emerald green eyes, and dirty blond hair. The only difference was the style of their hair. "Stay still, beautiful." The guy with long thick waves said. "Yeah, doll, you just got in an accident." said the one with short hair shaved on the sides. "Who's the one that hit her, you i***t?!" The one with thick wavy, shoulder-length hair said. "All of you shut up! can't you see she is startled?" The guy with long hair on top and shaved sides and underneath exclaimed. As the other three men looked at their brother, they stopped talking and stared at him. After silently staring at each other, they all looked at me and back at each other. When someone finally started talking, it was the guy with short hair shaved on the sides. "So, do you remember what happened to you?" "I was walking around my new pa…." I trailed off, not knowing if they were any humans around. "My new neighborhood to get a lay of the land, and then I heard a car honking, and then it gets a bit fuzzy." One of them started chuckling, and I narrowed my eyes at him. Still laughing, he said, "You can say the word pack. This is the pack hospital, and there are no humans here." "I wasn't sure if this was the pack wing or the human wing of the hospital," I said confidently. "Why would we put you in the human wing?" The man with shoulder-length hair asked. "Well, you didn't know if I was part of the pack or just passing through. In my previous packs, no outside shifters were allowed in the pack hospital wing." I explained They all looked at me dumbfounded, not knowing what to say to my statement. As I got out of bed, they all looked at me, mouths agape. I walked over to the chair my clothes were on and started changing. I noticed they had turned around to give me privacy as I turned around. "I'm dressed now." As I said this, they turned around, still looking at me like I had three heads. "What is the matter with you four, I ask again; why are you in my hospital room?" "How?" they all asked, looking exasperated. "'How' what?" I asked. "How are you moving? When we brought you in, you had a broken leg, six broken ribs, a broken wrist, and a fracture in your spine." the one with long hair on top exclaimed. I then started panicking. No normal wolf would have been able to heal that fast; it's only been an hour! I started looking around the room and noticed I was closer to the door. I quickly turned, opened the door, and ran out of the room. I didn't know what to do. I had nowhere to go. This was my last hope. I ran out of the hospital and around the back, where the woods were. I didn't know where I was going, but I knew I needed to go and fast. I ran as fast as I could until I couldn't any longer. I must have ran for two to three hours; it was now nighttime. I slumped down on a tree next to a river and started crying. I started thinking about every time I had to run from a pack because someone had discovered my secret. I stayed there for fifteen minutes before washing off in the river. I then gathered firewood and used one of my other parts' powers to start a fire. I then caught a fish in the river and cooked it. While I was eating, I heard a crack in the wood. As I looked around, I couldn't see anything. Since I hadn't turned eighteen yet, I didn't have my wolf. So I tapped into another side of myself and looked around. As I did so, I noticed I was surrounded by four giant black and white wolves. As I got into a fighting stance, the wolves shifted to their human forms with their hands up. I assumed it was because they didn't want to seem threatening. "Just leave me alone, and no one will get hurt. I don't want to hurt you, but I will if I have to!" I said, getting ready for a fight. "We are not here to hurt you; we just want to know why you ran. I mean, since you gave us a good chase throwing your sent off and masking it, I think we deserve an explanation." One of the men said. "I don't owe you anything. First, you hit me with your car and are now stalking me. Who wouldn't run?" "That's a fair point, brothers." another one said. "Look, I just want to live my life without looking over my shoulder every five seconds and having to run. Let me go, and nothing will happen to any of you." "Who are you running from?" one of the others said. "That's none of your business." When the last of the brothers finally spoke out, he left us all dumbfounded. "I know why she is running from other packs, but not why she is running from our pack and us." His brothers then looked at him curiously, and I froze in horror. "You idiots! She's Mr. Apollos Niece!" The other three looked at me with their eyes bulging out of their heads in horror. "How do you know my family's last name? The only ones to know are those in the alphas fam…" I trailed off, realizing who the four brothers were. "You're the alpha's sons! Umm… Jaxon, Daren, Ryker, and Xaiden!” "Yes, we are." The last to speak said. "Why didn't you say that at the hospital?! You could have saved us all the trouble of running, chasing, and threatening." I said as I started to walk back to the pack. They started running, trying to catch up to me when he answered. "Honestly, I didn't realize until you talked about running from other packs." They all stopped, so I turned back to look at them. "Why did you stop? We need to get going. Quinn will be frantically looking for me. And he is probably freaking out on your dad. By the way, you all grew up to be quite handsome. I didn't recognize any of you, but I can see it now." They all looked at me in astonishment. "You remember us? It's been years, and we were so young we thought you forgot about us." "I'll never forget you guys. You were the only good thing from my childhood." I said, looking at each of them, and they all looked at me with a knowing look at what my childhood was like with my mother and stepfather. "Don't do that! Don't look at me with pity! I am not someone to pity! I am strong, and I don't need anyone's pity!" I exclaimed. "Sorry." They all said, looking at their feet. After an hour of walking in silence, one of them stopped me. "Why don't you shift? It will be faster." "I'm not eighteen yet, and I won't shift for another week," I said, looking into his eyes, and a light bulb went off as he realized something. His eyes glazed over, and I realized he was mind-linking his brothers. "You can ride on one of our wolves, and it will be faster." He said. "Sure, but which one of your wolves is willing to let me ride on their backs?" As I finished my question, all of their hands shot up a little too eagerly. I laughed a little as they all scowled at each other. "Whose idea was it? Don't think I didn't notice you four mind-linking with each other. Obviously, you were talking about it. I also feel that you four are hiding something from me." I said as I gestured my finger at the four of them. "OOOh, I like her. She's smart and intuitive. It was I who suggested the idea." The second brother behind me said. "Okay, then I will be riding on your back since the idea was yours," I said. "But first, I think I need to know which of you is which," I said, laughing. The one with short hair shaved on the sides spoke first. "Sorry about that, I'm the youngest, and my name is Xaiden," he said, pressing his hand against his chest. "I'm Ryker, the third born." the one with long hair on top and shaved sides said, holding one finger in the air. "Okay, Ryker looks like your wolf, and I will get a little closer," I said, laughing and smiling. "Daren, the second born." the one with long wavy hair said, pointing at himself. "I'm Jaxon, the eldest of the four, and sorry for not making introductions earlier. It was a bit hectic." the one with shoulder-length hair said sarcastically, shaking his head. "Yeah, well, if you had introduced yourselves when I asked who you were in the hospital, we could have avoided this. Anyways how long did it take to find me?" I asked, looking proud of myself for giving them a good chase. "Well, I'm guessing you ran for two hours, but it took us five hours to find you after you stopped. So I'd say a good seven hours. You are very good at running and spreading and covering your sent. How did you learn to do that?" Ryker asked, looking impressed at my abilities. "Picked it up after running for so many years. It comes in handy when you're being chased. I was actually about to leave again when you found me. There are only two ways you could have found me that fast. One is that you are excellent hunters and have great stamina; the other is impossible, so I'm gonna go with that." I said, impressed that they found me. "What is the second option?" Xaiden asked, looking hopeful. "That one or all four of you are my mates, but that's impossible. My mate was killed two months ago, the night he found me on his eighteenth birthday. As I ran from hybrid hunters in the city, I bumped into him while he was standing in line at a nightclub. When he grabbed me, he said 'MATE' and then was shot with an arrow to the heart. I had to leave him bleeding out; I never knew his name. So you see, it's impossible because the goddess only gives second-chance mates to those who deserve it. And I don't deserve one let alone four." "We are sorry that happened to you, and you didn't deserve that, but everyone deserves a second chance. And that includes you." Daren said, shocking all his brothers. I didn't notice I was crying until the four of them walked up to me and started wiping the tears away and hugging me. We stayed there for a bit, and they let me cry. I haven't had time for crying, and I've always been on the run, but I cried twice today. This is the first time my life has sunk in, as I remembered everything life had thrown at me. I don't know when it happened, but I fell asleep as they held me.
