Chapter 6: A Man and a Woman Alone, Trouble Looms Just a moment ago, it was a perfectly normal interview program, but suddenly, it turned into chaos. After all, this was a reputable local station that rarely made such grave mistakes. "Who knows?" Jonathan Sanders's face suddenly relaxed, and he snapped his laptop shut, watching the terrified host on TV and the stunned Nicholas Sanders, sitting in the guest seat, with a slightly amused expression. That was his elder brother. What a great brother! "Oh..." Isabella Gomez finally understood why the host on the interview show was screaming. They were showcasing a high-tech program, but halfway through, the screen suddenly changed to an image of a naked woman, in a wet, black-and-white, restrained style. With such a blunder, the show was likely doomed. The TV quickly switched to commercials, and Isabella Gomez speculated, "They must have been hacked, right? A cyber attack?" She was, of course, talking to Jonathan Sanders; there was no one else in the room. People often tend to discuss news with someone nearby after seeing it. Jonathan Sanders wasn't usually one for small talk, but he turned to see Isabella Gomez looking at the TV with keen interest, clearly finding the recent mishap amusing. Isabella Gomez rarely laughed like this. In the month since Jonathan Sanders had known her, he had seen her worry about making ends meet and stress over deadlines, but never laugh so freely. Her laughter was... hard to resist. "The attacker might not be a hacker," Jonathan Sanders said. The term "hacker" carried a negative connotation, and Jonathan Sanders didn't consider himself one. He had just destroyed his own property, which wasn't illegal. Hearing this, Isabella Gomez nodded, "You're right. This person is probably the eldest son of the Sanders Group, right? The Sanders family has grown so powerful that they must have stepped on many toes. When you drink too much blood, you're bound to be retaliated against. These people don't deserve sympathy." Isabella Gomez shook her head and pouted at the TV. "Oh? So, in your opinion, there are no good people in the Sanders family?" Jonathan Sanders narrowed his eyes, looking at her dangerously. Isabella Gomez suddenly realized something was off about his gaze, but she didn't think much of it, "I don't know if there are any good people, but the offspring of a family like the Lings are never simple." Pausing, Isabella Gomez decided not to continue, "Forget it. I won't have anything to do with the Lings, so discussing this is pointless." She turned and went back to the kitchen to cook. No connection with the Lings? Jonathan Sanders chuckled lightly. "Are you sure?" "Sure about what?" Isabella Gomez turned back, only to see him reopening his laptop and playing his incomprehensible "game" as if he hadn't just spoken. What a weirdo, always leaving sentences half-finished... After dinner, Isabella Gomez pushed Jonathan Sanders downstairs. The doctor said he needed fresh air, even though he was very reluctant and wore a cold expression. For his health, Isabella Gomez still took him for a 30-minute walk. Modern residential complexes can be cold and isolated. Even after living here for two years, Isabella Gomez knew almost no one except Lucy Murphy and Mrs Clark. So, no one would gossip about her living with a disabled man, and she felt comfortable taking Jonathan Sanders out for a walk. On their way back, they ran into Mrs Clark. "Mrs Clark," Isabella Gomez greeted her, but Mrs Clark pulled her aside, away from Jonathan Sanders, and asked, "Isabella, Xiao Meng said you have a boyfriend. Is he the one?" Isabella Gomez shook her head, "Grandma, don't listen to Xiao Meng. He's not my boyfriend. I saved his life, and he's staying with us temporarily." "Not your boyfriend, that's good," Mrs Clark sighed in relief, "This morning, after you left, I saw a woman enter your house. He opened the door for her. She was quite impressive, beautiful and with a great figure. If he were your boyfriend, I'd warn you. You keep him at home, and he might bring another one back!" "What did you say, Grandma?" Isabella Gomez caught the key point, "Someone came to see him today?" Mrs Clark nodded, "Yes, that woman stayed for half an hour and seemed reluctant to leave. I think their relationship is more than it seems." Isabella Gomez was stunned. If not for Mrs Clark, she would have thought Jonathan Sanders was a lonely soul with no friends or family. Why hadn't he told her about the visitor? Back home, Jonathan Sanders reopened his laptop and resumed his incomprehensible "game." Isabella Gomez waited for a while, but he showed no sign of explaining. Unable to hold back, she walked over and slammed his laptop shut. "Jonathan, we need to talk!" Jonathan Sanders was working on a complex project when Isabella Gomez interrupted him, and by closing his laptop, no less! His handsome face darkened, and he glared at her coldly. He was a workaholic, and no one had ever dared to do something so dangerous while he was working! "You closed my laptop!" Seeing that Isabella Gomez didn't realize her mistake, Jonathan Sanders reminded her coldly. Isabella Gomez pouted, "It's just a game. You can play anytime. I want to know, did someone come to see you today?" As his gaze swept over her fair, delicate face, scenes of her taking care of him over the past few days flashed through his mind. Strangely, the anger from her sudden action dissipated. Jonathan Sanders looked away and reopened his laptop. He didn't want to discuss Alice; it was his private matter. "So, it's true?" Seeing that he didn't deny it, Isabella Gomez was shocked. She grabbed him, "If Mrs Clark hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known. Tell me, did you run away from home? Who was that woman? Your girlfriend? Your wife?" As she questioned him, her cheeks flushed, making her look rather cute. Her lips pursed, and instead of being aggressive, she seemed... jealous? Jonathan Sanders reached out and, almost involuntarily, lifted her chin gently. Their faces were inches apart, and Jonathan Sanders could see himself reflected in her eyes. Her greatest asset was those bright, clear eyes, like an elf escaped from the deep mountains. Jonathan Sanders suddenly thought of the phrase "beautiful eyes." For the first time, he realized how attractive Isabella Gomez was. Caught off guard by his sudden move, Isabella Gomez's large, watery eyes stared at him, then dropped to his rosy lips. Suddenly, she had an odd urge to bite them. A man and a woman alone together, indeed, problems were bound to arise.
