Phoenix was puzzled as to why she told Jax of her past crush and she doesn't know why she remembered that. It was eighth grade. He was just so cute and so damn smart at the time ,just perfect in her eyes. She thought she was in love when Maddie typical mean girl of the school thought she was made for him you know because they were both 'perfect' .Then she decided their little friendship was perfect for her.
That's the same year She met Emily, she just moved here and her dad is the Geography teacher. She was nice to Phoenix and she was fun to be around, plus they shared a dislike towards Maddie. They just clicked.Phoenix usually wonders why Emily befriended her as they are totally different. She thought Emily is such a beauty, tall with caramel clear skin, short hair and a body like a model. She always looks her best and for Phoenix not sò much, if it's not comfortable it's gotta go.
Since it is a beautiful Sunday afternoon she decides to check on Emily. They had finished their project yesterday via video call and her calculus was getting better. She needed a break.
Sitting on top of her friends' bed Phoenix fans her nails trying to dry the transparent nail polish.
Phoenix feels her face flush as Emily teases her about Ryan. She tries to hide her embarrassment, but Emily knows her too well.
"Come on, Phoenix, you can't deny it," Emily says with a grin. "You've been crushing on Ryan since the beginning of the semester."
Phoenix rolls her eyes. "I was just admiring his soccer skills, and his intellect " she says, trying to play it cool.
"Sure, sure," Emily says, unconvinced. "But don't worry, I won't tell anyone. Your secret is safe with me."
Phoenix lets out a sigh of relief. She knows she can trust Emily with anything.
"So, what are your plans for tomorrow after the soccer match?" Phoenix asks, changing the subject.
"Well, I was thinking we could grab some food and maybe catch a movie," Emily suggests.
Phoenix nods in agreement. "Sounds like a plan. And then we can go back to my place and watch some Netflix."
"Perfect," Emily says with a smile. "It's always fun hanging out with you."
As the two girls walk inside Emily's kitchen, Phoenix can't help but think about her feelings for Ryan. She knows Emily is right, but she's not ready to admit it to herself yet. Maybe one day, she'll gather the courage to tell Ryan how she really feels.
Monday arrived, and Phoenix's nerves were on edge. She had studied as hard as she could, but she still felt unprepared for the calculus exam.
Phoenix sat nervously at her desk, her palms sweating as she waited for the exam to start. She had spent the past week preparing with her study partner, Jax, and she hoped that all their hard work would pay off.
As the teacher handed out the exam papers, Phoenix took a deep breath and began to read through the questions. She felt a wave of relief wash over her as she realized that she knew the answers to most of them.
For the next hour, Phoenix focused intently on the exam, blocking out all distractions and putting all of her energy into answering the questions to the best of her ability.
Finally, the time was up, and Phoenix handed in her paper. She felt a mixture of exhaustion and relief wash over her as she left the classroom.
As she stepped outside, Jax caught up to her. "Hey, how'd you think you did?" he asked.
"I don't know," Phoenix replied. "I feel like I did okay, but there were a couple of questions that stumped me."
"Well, don't worry about it," Jax said reassuringly. "You studied really hard for this, and I'm sure you did great."
Phoenix smiled at him, grateful for his encouragement. "Thanks, Jax. I couldn't have done it without you."
Jax grinned back at her. "Anytime, Phoenix. We make a pretty good team, don't we?"
As they walked away from the classroom together, Phoenix couldn't help but feel grateful for having such a supportive friend like Jax. No matter what happened with the exam, she knew that she had someone in her corner who believed in her.
At lunchtime, Jax and his soccer team gathered on the field, ready for their match. Phoenix cheered them on from the sidelines, watching as Jax scored a goal and led his team to victory.
After the match, Jax and his friends invited Phoenix and Emily to a party at Ryan's house. Phoenix hesitated at first desperate to cling to her previous plans with Emily,
"Come on Nixy, it's gonna be fun.For once you don't have to worry about school "Emily finished with a sing-song . As Emily convinced her to let loose and have some fun which she was sure she was going to regret buckling under peer pressure later.
The party was wild, with music blaring and teenagers dancing and drinking. Phoenix felt out of place at first, but soon she found herself laughing and chatting with Ryan and his friends.
Jax was there too, of course, and he sang a few songs for the crowd. Phoenix couldn't help but feel a flutter in her chest as she watched him perform, admiring his talent and charisma.
As the night wore on, Phoenix found herself getting drunker and drunker. She had never been much of a drinker, but Emily kept urging her to try different cocktails and shots.
At one point, Phoenix found herself alone with Jax, sitting on the couch in Ryan's living room. They talked for a while, reminiscing about their childhood and their hopes for the future.
"I wish my dad was still here," Phoenix said suddenly, feeling tears prick at the corners of her eyes.
Jax put his arm around her. "I know, princess. But you're strong. You'll get through this."
Phoenix leaned into his embrace, feeling safe and warm. She had always loved Jax, but now she realized that her feelings for him were deeper than she had ever thought.
As the party wound down and the teenagers stumbled home, Phoenix stumbled into her bed, feeling dizzy and disoriented. She knew she had to face her mom tomorrow when she comes back, but for now, she just wanted to sleep and dream about Jax.
