When Fate Paves The Way

Oh Joy!

Phoenix groaned and reached for her head, feeling the pounding headache that came with a night of heavy drinking. She struggled to open her eyes against the bright light that seemed to be piercing through her skull.

As she tried to piece together the events of the previous night, she couldn't help but regret going to the party and drinking so much. Her memories were fuzzy and disjointed, but she could vaguely recall laughing and dancing with her friends, and then things getting hazy after she had a few too many drinks.She was relieved to find herself in her own bed, in her own room.

"Probably was Jax's doing"She thought

As if he heard her, she heard the notification ping of her phone.Phoenix frantically searched for her phone. She found it lying on a nearby table and quickly checked the time. It was already mid-morning, and she had several missed calls and messages from her friends.

"Last night was awesome, I want a repeat!" -Emily

"There's painkillers in the first drawer you should take them"-Jax

"Oh I hope you enjoyed yourself, drink lots of water!"-Jax

"Are you awake?I tried calling.Call me!"-Jax

Phoenix decides to respond to Jax and she'll just call Emily later.She is sure she is sound asleep.

"Hey Jax,Thanks.Just woke up.I'm gonna clean up first then I'll call" -Phoenix

"Good you're alive! Or I could just come by"- Jax

Phoenix rolls her eyes as he didn't even ask if he could come by.To another person it could be a suggestion but she knows he is on his way.

"I know you're on your way.Just come with some goodies"-Phoenix

Phoenix slowly sat up, her head still throbbing with pain. she heard the sounds of movement coming from the rest of the house.

"Oh no, mom" Phoenix stood there not knowing what to do.

Phoenix knew that her mother wouldn't be happy if she found out that she had been out partying and drinking the previous night. She felt a sense of dread as she heard her mother getting closer to her room.

Sure enough, her mother soon appeared in the doorway, looking stern and disapproving. "Good morning, Phoenix," she said, her voice tinged with irritation . "What were you doing out so late last night?You didn't answer my calls or messages.This is so unlike you"

Phoenix felt a wave of shame and regret wash over her. She knew that her mother was right to be upset with her, but she didn't want to face her disapproval. "I'm sorry, Mom," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I went to a party with my friends and had too much to drink. I didn't mean to worry you."

Her mother let out a sigh, her expression softening slightly. "I'm not just worried, Phoenix," she said. "I'm disappointed. You know how important it is to me that I know that you are safe.You are a teenager these things are bound to happen but what I expect from my princess is that she should answer her phone and tell me that she's fine.Is that too much to ask for?"

Phoenix hung her head, feeling the weight of her mother's disappointment.

"Look at me" Sharon held a daughter close enough to look deep into her eyes.

Phoenix did what she was told.

"Look my joy, I want you to live your life as you want to, enjoy every moment of it.But don't let it worry me that I think of something horrible.I trust my little princess because she's smart enough to make her own decisions.I need to know you are safe.You are my life line, my second true love.Don't make me call Jax to check on you" Then she gave her a hug

"Wait mom.Is Jax the one who told you about last night?"

"When I tried to reach you, I tried him.I know you guys are peas in a pod.If one's in a place the other is not too far"

"Now I want you to take a shower and drink some painkillers, then come downstairs I need to talk to you,understand?" Sharon got in and picked up some clothes

"Yes mom"She walked in to her bathroom.It was an ensuite as this was a big house.

Phoenix finished her shower and wrapped herself in a towel, feeling a bit better after washing away some of the remnants of her hangover. As she stepped out of the bathroom, she was surprised to see Jax standing in her room.

"Hey, Phoenix," Jax said, looking at her with concern. "Last night was wild and for the most part you were wild. Are you okay?"

Phoenix felt a rush of gratitude towards Jax, who had always been a loyal friend. "Yeah, I'm okay," she said, managing a weak smile. "Thanks for checking on me."

Jax nodded, then turned to Sharon, who had entered the room behind him. "Hey, Sharon," he said. "How's everything going?"

Sharon looked tired, but managed a small smile. "It's going," she said. "Just busy with work, as usual. I have to leave for the office in a few minutes, actually."

Jax looked surprised. "Oh, I didn't realize you had to work today. Is everything okay?"

Sharon nodded. "Yeah, it's just a busy time at the office. But I wanted to make sure that Phoenix was taken care of while I'm away. Jax, could you look after her for me today?"

Jax nodded without hesitation. "Of course," he said. "I'll make sure she's okay."

Phoenix felt a twinge of disappointment as she realized that she wouldn't have much time to spend with her mother. She had been looking forward to having a day to hang out with her, but now it seemed like she would have to make do with Jax's company instead.

As Sharon left the room to head to work, Phoenix sighed and turned to Jax. "Thanks for being here, Jax," she said. "I appreciate it."

Jax smiled at her. "No problem," he said. "Let's do something fun today to take your mind off things. How about we go see a movie or something?"

Phoenix nodded, feeling grateful for Jax's friendship. She knew that she would have to make things right with her mother eventually, but for now, she was glad to have a friend who cared about her.
