Kage no Jūnin

As the sun rose all I could hear was my alarm ringing vigorously, I’m sort of a heavy sleeper and I’ve missed most of my classes because of that. My name is Kurohoshi Yoru, and I live in a rented apartment at Shibuya, this is pretty much how my morning is; loud alarm, bright sun in my face, and a migraine. Not that I had a party last night or went out for drinking, it just happens every morning, well time to get up. I stood up from my cranky bed, feeling the ground beneath my feet, cold as usual, “I wonder what today has install for me” I said to myself. Dragging my feet I went to the bathroom, the house isn’t big though, just a room well fitted for a person like me. I brushed my teeth and stared into the mirror wondering what my purpose in life was, I don’t do much myself, I’m a student at Aoyama University and I work at a convenience store as a part timer, I don’t earn much, just enough to keep me alive and pay my institution fee. After brushing I took my bath and got dressed for school, then I realized something, I’m out of groceries. “Guess I’ll buy some when I get back”, my classes are held in the afternoon so I’m not worried about fatigue, ‘Well time to get dressed’ after picking black pants and a black T shirt ‘Yes black is my favorite color’ I left the apartment, locking the door, I saw Chibi, ‘Chibi is an alley cat, she doesn’t have a owner so she fends for herself, I something help her with food and baths, and of course I name her Chibi’ . “Hey there, how are you, hope you didn’t get all dirty this time” I said while rubbing her fur, ‘she looks less dirty then the first time I meet her, she was all feisty and ferocious, at least that’s what she thought she was, one fish could change a cat’s mind you know’. “Alright see you later Chibi” I waved her good by and walked down to a coffee shop nearby. “irasshai” the waitress said as I walked in ringing the bell on the door, “Welcome to Komeda’s Coffee, what would you like today sir?”, ‘This is Komi, I know that because I hear her people call her that.’ “I’ll take decaf” I said while taking a seat next to the window, my usual spot, “Yoshu, coming right up sir” she spoke cheerfully, she always like that, bringing smile to costumers faces is part of he job after all, just surprised she hasn’t seen me as a regular yet, it has been up to a month since I moved here. ’Shibuya city, a city of wonders they say, after hearing about this place I decided to move here, since it’s a lot closer to where I’m studying, and a lot more cozy than most places far away, I mean who would want to back down from staying at MJ Aoiyama’ I plugged in my headphone and listen to my favorite playlist, just different songs from different artist. Patiently waiting for my coffee and facing the window, seeing cars move and the wind blow, lots of thoughts came to my head, ‘why did I come here, what’s the reason I decided to study here of all places, is it because of the women, the career of a software developer, what’s my purpose’. “Here’s your decaf” the cheerful voice of the waitress Komi interrupted my deep thoughts, “Arigato gozaimasu” I said while taking the coffee with a bow, “There’s no need to thank me” She smiled at me “After all this is your usual and I add something extra”. ‘So she did know me, I feel a bit of relief ‘, “Thanks a lot Komi..” she left to attend to the other customers, didn’t think she’d be cool with me calling her name. ‘Normally I hate people, humans to be precise, including myself’ ‘we take our time correcting others, instead of correct ourselves first, we think selfishly and would allow others died without remorse, everyday people die because of our mistake, a young girl’s about to commit suicide, we put it on camera and post it to get tweets,’ Rage began to build up in me like wild fire which almost made me spill decaf on myself, ‘Calm down’ after the coffee I dropped my bill and left the café, “Its almost noon, better head to school”, Aoiyama university wasn’t that far, even if you had to take a bus to get there it was still in a walking distance. “Good morning Mister Yoru, How are you today”, Miss Tsubasa my tutor was already on her way to her office, despite her status she’s quite young for her age, she’s even packed with goodies. “Good morning ma’am” I said with a smile, She walked up to me from the gate earnestly, could have sworn she almost chased me, but that would be possible, she’s always in this hot secretary outfit, white blouse and black skirt with a black jacket, if not for the jacket, you would says she seduces her students for her own ulterior motives, but Miss Tsubasa isn’t all quite bad. The good quality she has aside from the heavenly embodiment she’s got is she always cares for her students. Or maybe it’s just me. “I see you’re early today” she said with a grin on her face and adjusting her hair, “well I have something for…” while she was speaking, a familiar face interrupted the conversation. “Hey Yoru!”, a girl started running towards our direction, she had a purple sweat shirt and jeans, and bangs. *pants pants* exhausted from running she asked “You ready for class”, “Yeah I am, Miss Tsubasa here just wanted my help with something”, I said with one hand behind my head, “Oh I see, we’ll see you later”. She sounded off, like she’s worried or something, Miss Tsubasa stood there and I could have sworn I saw a death stare from her, “Ok Miss Tsubasa, what’d you need me for” I asked disinclined about the task she was about to give me. “I need you to help me get something in the library…a book” she said covertly, “Huh, why don’t you get it you’re, you’re a staff here for Christ sake”, I asked cautiously wondering why she asked me even if she could get it herself, the library is huge but finding what she needs should be hard, besides students don’t get access to most of the information in the library. “The fact I’m covertly telling you this should tell you something” she asked while making a sly face. “Oh crap, you want me to steal it” I said with a sigh of disappointment, This isn’t the first time she’s asked me to steal something, documents, snacks and so many things I don’t get sometimes. “C’mon it’s just a book, besides I’ll reward you greatly for it” she said with the same sly face as earlier, “Yeah right, you always say that and yet I haven’t gotten anything” I said knowing what the outcome would be, but she started putting on the helpless woman act as usual “Oh please Yoru, I promise this thing, don’t you want to help a sexy woman like me” She spoke in a lustful manner which was very disturbing “Ok cut it out I’ll help” I said being a bit irritated…and turned on ‘ God why am I like this’, after class I went to the library as she said, if I recall correctly she said something about a blue gemstone on the book cover. Walking down the hallway in the library my steps echoed through the empty library, the librarian was kind enough to let me through, which was odd because I didn’t do anything to persuade her, she acted a bit weird cause she had hoodie on, despite the hot weather. After several minutes in the library I found nothing, then I remember she told me to pull out the 3rd book in the second role of the novel section, after a few minutes I found the book, at 4:32pm after I spotted the book, it looked like an ancient history book for fairy tales and another world, it was dark purple in colour and had a see through gem on it the wind started howling like it was about to rain, it became a bit dark and I started hearing still voices, all telling me to get lost. “Get out” “Leave this place” “Get lost”, I hear silent voice echoing round the entire library. “Maybe its just the wind”, ignorant of the voice I heard, I took the book. “Now I just have to find a way to sneak past the odd libra..” Suddenly I fell to the ground as if something pushed me, I panicked and attempted to run with looking back to consider why I fell, but I couldn’t move. ‘Can't move" Slowly I turned my head and saw dark figures, looking like people and by the looks they had they were not happy at all, I tried to pull myself away in fear but I just couldn’t move. “L.Let me go!!” I spoke trembling at the sight of the dark figures. One of the figures bit my shin and I felt excruciating pain. “ARGHHH!!” I screamed in pain hoping someone would hear me, but now one came, they began eating me and tearing me up, in my agony and pain I noticed there was no sign of blood, but my skin had been ripped off, leaving a dark skin behind as it bites, but the pain was real. It’s was odd how I was going to die like this, I felt a bit of relief that’ll leave this world. The creatures had already gobbled up my skin, leaving behind a dark figure, just like them. Just as I was about to give up and close my eyes, *Shatter* I heard the sound of a broken glass and footsteps, I turned and saw a red figure, I thought it was another one of them coming to finish me up but this one didn’t float like them, it had a female figure and I could see her treasure chest bouncing as she ran,. “H.hel.” I realized I couldn't speak, and my sight and voice was taken. My ears started to blurry. “Is this the end, I thought to my self” Suddenly I saw what looked like a light and I saw the red figure standing beside me. It felt like she was saying something…but I couldn’t hear. Then the light expanded and completely blinds vision. After a while I could hear birds chirping and I saw a grey sky and white clouds “pain.. it’s gone” I sat up looking around but all I was black and white and some colors, maybe those colors are living things, from what I observe I was by a lake with trees in front of me, then I turned back and saw a girl… A frightened naked one, she looked like she’s seen a ghost “Uhm are you ok, why do you look like you’ve seen something horrifyi…” She suddenly picked up a kunai and threw it at me.. “Oh shoot!!”
