The moment I stepped out of the car and walked into the house, something felt… different.

Too quiet...
Usually the kids’ laughter echoed through the hallway or the TV hummed softly somewhere in the background. But tonight the house was calm, almost like it was holding a secret. I stepped further inside and froze. There are rose petals scattered on the floor, making me gasp in shock. My eyes widened as I looked down at the floor.
A trail of deep red flower petals spread across the marble tiles, forming a soft path that stretched across the living room and continued down the hallway.
