The Unexpected Luna

CHAPTER FOUR

I just stood there for what felt like an eternity, just getting lost in his beautiful eyes. This feeling is intoxicating, it’s overwhelming all of my senses and is a high I never want to come down from and I don’t think I ever will.

“Are you going to tell me your name beautiful?” Just hearing his deep, smooth voice is making my heart melt. Ari was no help, she was a blur in my mind with how excited she was. I somehow composed myself and friend to remember how to speak normally.

“Skye,,,my name is Skye” I somehow got out. He reached his hand to my face and cupped my cheek. He was warm, safe and I was irrevocably in love with him already. G*ddamn mate bond.

“Skye” he said quietly. “My beautiful, perfect Skye” he said with the sweetest smile.

“What’s your name?” I asked, with a quiver to my voice.

“Tristan” ughhh, even his name was gorgeous! What is this man doing to me?!

“Shall we get out of here and go for a walk? I don’t want our first date to be in a strip club” he asked.

I almost let out a horrendous, embarrassing laugh. But thankfully contained myself to let out a quiet chuckle. I just nodded in answer.

We grabbed my coat and headed outside.

“So, Skye. How come you wondered into this place?” Tristan asked with an eyebrow raised while interlocking his fingers between mine. Just feeling this was not just making my heart melt. I was so turned on I could just mount him right now.

“I was in The Howling Wolf before, with my friends, well I was at the bar while they were looking for dates and my mate Matt was there and then they wanted to hook up and I-” words poured out of my mouth. What is wrong with me? I don’t get scared or nervous or anxious, but with Tristan, I’m just a mess.

I only stopped because Tristan stopped, gently held my shoulders and looked into my eyes again. “Skye, calm down. You don’t need to be nervous around me. Just breathe” he hushed. I nodded. I gathered my thoughts and took a breath.

“I was in the bar with my friends for the evening and decided to head home. That’s when me and Aria caught your scent. By the time I came to realise what was going on you’d left and Aria wanted to find you” I told him.

Tristan looked at me “I see. So you stalked me?” He asked with a cheeky look.

“No! I wasn’t stalking you, Aria didn’t want to give up on finding you and then she took control-” ah. Probably shouldn’t have admitted that I shifted in a public place.

“So your wolf took over to find me? You know the Council elders wouldn’t like that. But, it was very sweet of her. And I’m very happy that she was so assertive.” He said.

“So how you were in the club?” I threw back at him. He laughed quietly before answering “I was in there with my Beta, Jace. He’s unmated and ‘living for the moment’ to use his words”

“Your Beta invited you out with him? I had to plead with my Beta to let me come out tonight.”

“Jace finds it difficult to argue with me but he wanted to go out and you never know who you might run into.” He replied while giving my handily a gentle squeeze. Please let this feeling never end.

I hadn’t noticed but we’d been wandering apparently aimlessly for quite a while and ended up outside a large house with a gated driveway. I could tell we were in a remote area outside the local town and was surrounded by fields. This was the territory and lands of the Lester Pack.

“Is this your home? You didn’t say you were in the Lester Pack” I asked Tristan.

“Yeah. We’re not a massive pack, only a few hundred members, but we’re strong.” he answered. “And I wouldn’t say I was in the pack, I kinda run it.”

“you’re an alpha?!” I asked.

“Yeah” he said in such a casual tone. “So what?”

So what? How could he not say before? How didn’t I realise?

“I just,,,I mean I didn’t know. It’s just a shock. I never thought I’d be mated to an alpha. I never though I’d have a mate if I’m honest” I said, still in shock. He pulled me close to him and as to gesture into thin air, Tristan gave a signal and the gates opened. “You want to come in?”

I immediately froze.

What are you waiting for? Of course you do! Aria shouted at me.

Before I could freeze up yet again, I bit my lip and lightly nodded.
