The moon was full and glowed over the pack's gathering. Helena was very excited that Kelvin, the alpha's son, was preparing to choose his mate. "Kelvin, it's time," the alpha announced, his voice very loud and clear. Kelvin nodded and stood up. His eyes scanned the crowd. Helena's heart has been skipping right from the time the Alpha announced that it was time for his son to choose his mate because they had a passionate night the previous night and she was sure she was the one and it skipped again as their eyes met. But Kelvin's gaze quickly passed over her and landed on Anabelle, Helena's best friend. "Anabelle, come forward," Kelvin called out, a smile spreading across his face. Helena could not believe her eyes. Her world froze. What was happening? Why was Kelvin choosing Anabelle after the night they shared together?. Anabelle sashayed, a smile on her face. "I'm honored, Kelvin. I don't take this for granted" she said, her voice dripping with so much sweetness. Kelvin took Annabelle's hand, and the pack were so overjoyed and gave a round of applause. Helena felt like she'd been hitten so hard in her stomach. "How could he do this to me?" Helena thought aloud, tears streaming down her eyes. The Alpha was so excited at his son's decision and as the ceremony continued, Helena couldn't bear to watch. She just has a passionate night with Kelvin the previous night thinking it'll bond them together. She ran out of the pack to her quarters. "Hey! Helena, where are you running to? Hope you're okay?" one of the wolves asked. Helena ignored him and continued running to her quarters. As she reached her quarters, she collapsed on her bed, sobbing uncontrollably. What is my offense and why had Kelvin rejected her? Does it mean that their passionate night meant nothing to him?. Just then, there was a knock on her door, she did not know she was followed by one of the wolves. She didn't want disturbance so didn't want to open the door but forgot that she didn't lock the door. The wolf quickly opened the door and saw her collapsed on the bed. “Helena, what exactly did you want to do to yourself? Please take it easy on yourself. What's the problem?” Helena glanced at her and continued sobbing. “Kelvin! I love Kelvin”. The wolf could not comprehend what she was talking about. She went closer to understand what she was saying. “Kelvin oh! My Kelvin” she repeated. The wolf now understood what she was saying and let out a short smile. “Helena, I understand you. This is not the end of the world. You love Kelvin but he chose Anabelle, you shouldn't kill yourself because of that. There's a mate meant for you outside there that’ll love you the way you wanted. Please take it easy on yourself” The wolf begged her, rubbing her back. Helena, after listening to the wolf, cried the most. “Did you know that…that….” she could not hold the tears any longer. She bursted out. The wolf felt so much for her. Her eyes and face were laced with sympathy. She tried controlling her but she couldn't because Helena was so much battered and shattered from the incident that happened. All of a sudden, she stopped crying, came down from the bed and went to sit as though someone beside the wolf with her told her to sit. The wolf followed her and sat beside her. After a few seconds, she stood up and started walking around the room. She was acting like she had lost her mind. The wolf because she was there to help started walking around with her. Helena walked closer to the wolf and whispered something to her ear. “When two wolves have a passionate night together, can't it seal their bond and make it stronger?” she asked with all seriousness. The wolf nodded. “It should. A passionate night with two wolves is meant to make the bond they share stronger and stronger unless there's an enemy somewhere who would want to scatter the union” the wolf explained. Helena also nodded in agreement. “Since mine is happening that way, how do I handle this? she asked, her voice low but firm. The wolf was just staring at her but couldn't say a word. Helena went closer and tapped the wolf gently. “Kelvin loves me so much and I'm deeply in love with him. I gave him my body last night to show him how much I love him and believed so much that it’ll seal our bond and make him choose but what I saw today my mouth cannot explain it” she explained, tears streaming down her eyes. The wolf shook her head. “Please take it easy on yourself. I’ll be taking my leave now to join the bonding ceremony before the Alpha starts looking for me and he won't be happy that I left before the end of the ceremony. Everything will be fine.” The wolf stood, bared her goodbye and left. Shortly after the wolf left, Helena's door opened again and there was no trace of any being that showed the door was opened by him or her. Helena became more scared than ever before. “Who opened my door?” she asked herself. What made it worse was that the door opened and no one was seen that opened the door. “Who's there?” Helena screamed. There was no response Helena was so afraid to even move an inch. “Is someone there?” she repeated. Still there was no response. She managed to walk down to the door though still very scared but still she didn't see anyone. She searched around but couldn't see anyone. As she was about to go back to sit down, she saw a written note by the side of her door. She hesitated to pick it up. After much deliberation on how the written note came about. She picked it up. It reads: “I have something for you if only you can do what I want you to do. You’ll get it. Interested? Reach me with the number above. Thank you.” Helena was so shocked. Her hands were literally shaking with the written note. Who could have dropped this? she asked herself. What exactly is the writer trying to say and could this be a set-up? he thought aloud
