Chapter 5

1393 Words
Giovanni POV Right after my aunt left, I received a text from Olivia. She knows how to get my attention, that's for sure. She sent me a photo of her in pink lace underwear, lying down in my bed. I breathed out a shaky breath. Shit. I know if I went home, I would be back in the same shitty ass cycle. Olivia calls says she misses me, we get back together, she makes me spend money or asks for money, and then a week later starts some drama to break up with me. What can I say? I’m addicted to her p***y. But there was a new one I wanted to be addicted to and wouldn’t mind making my new queen. Whatever I once felt for Olivia, I was done with it. I deleted the text and went back to doing my work. Captain Douglas, one of my workers and a good friend, came out to Hendrick and me. “Patrol time, boys. You guys are covering down south. Anderson! Mack! Uptown.” We all got up and went to do what we do best. So far, the patrol has been quiet. We stopped off at a small little cafe to get some coffee, we sat there waiting for something, and I began to get bored. My phone pinged, signaling that I got a text. Princess: “Foot rub later?” I smiled at the phone. I cleared my throat because, from the corner of my eye, I could see Hendrick acting like a fool. He was making out with the air. Me: “Anything for you, princess” she sent me a smiley face, and I closed my phone. Hendrick shook his head. He opens his mouth, about to say something when dispatch echoed through the radio. “Dispatch, we got a 10-16, down south at Oakland Road Nr 17 B,” the guy on the radio said. I check our location and the address we were the closest, 10 minutes, with Hendrick’s driving, less with mine. Hendrick picked up the talker, “10-4. We’re 10 minutes out,” “Be aware that kids are involved. Handle with precaution.” “Copy that” Hendrick got out, and I slipped over to the driver’s side. Once he was in, I turned the sirens on and speed to the location. I love speed, so just imagine the getaway Scott free card, the type of driving I’m doing right now. We got there in a matter of minutes. I observe the surroundings while Hendrick spoke to the neighbors that were standing outside. One neighbor was more worried about what was happening than the rest of them. Once the area was clear from potential runners or Marcus’s people, I focused on the woman. “There was yelling and screaming, then a few glasses broke. I tried every door. I knocked, and they still hadn’t answer.” Tears began to run down her face. “We will get the kids out of there ma’am, can I ask what’s your relation to them? How many kids, age, name.” I questioned her. Hendrick went to look around the house. “My daughter, Alley, goes to school with them. Tommy is my godson. He’s the oldest, seven years old. Jack and Emma are four years old. Tommy knows not to go over there until I say so. I don’t know why he didn’t come here straight after school.” She began to sob, and I assured her that we would get them back. Hendrick returned to my side and told me that the parents were in the living room snorting. I knocked on the door Identify myself and Hendrick. No one answered. I pounded on the door once more, repeating myself. The door creaked open, and the face of a bald head thin man came into view. “Good day, officer.” Already I’m not too fond of his appearance. It screams child abuser. And his voice irritated me even more. “We got a report about domestic violence, open up and let me in,” I demanded. This guy is lucky I’m on the job. “Nope,” he popped the ‘p,’, and it ticked me off. He was closing the door, and I used my body weight to force myself inside the house. The door backfired, hitting him straight in the face. I wasted no time in pushing him against the floor and handcuffing his hands behind his back. Someone jumped on me. They stuck both hands in my face, a couple of fingers clung to my mouth. “Get off him!” the female voice screamed in my ear. I stood up, grabbing her hands, and flipped her over my shoulder. She hit the floor with a thud. The guy got up on his feet and was ready to make a run for it. I kicked him behind the knee, sending him back down on the floor. The woman was ready to jump on me again, but Hendrick finally made a f*****g appearance and stopped her. I huffed out in irritation, and we carried both of them to the couch. “Seriously! So f*****g kind of you to help me, stronzo!” I shouted at him. “Blah blah, you survived, so stop complaining.” He stood next to me; as we watched at the two suspects, I nudge his arm. He sat down on a centerpiece table in front of the two assholes, who called themselves parents. “Watch out for miss flying monkey over there. I’m going to search the house for the kids, don’t forget to read ’em their rights.” With that said, I began my search. They weren’t upstairs in any of the rooms or bathrooms. I checked downstairs and saw that there was a door near the kitchen. Basement. I called out their names. “Jack, Tommy, Emma? Are you down here?” no reply. “My name Officer O'Brien, I won’t hurt you, and your mom and dad won’t hurt you. My partner has them in handcuffs right now.” I tried convincing them that it was okay to come on out. But they were silent. I called their names once more. “Jack--” my eyes catch the shadow on one of them. Three scared kids were clustered on each other, trying to convince the other that it was safe. I stooped to their level, holding my hands up in surrender, showing them that I won’t harm them. “It’s okay, come on, let’s get you guys out of here, okay?” I slowly stuck my hand out, and the little girl Emma was the first to reach for me. I held her gently to show the other two that I meant my words. We heard a loud thump sound, and they all clung to me. By the sound of that, a pretty site is what they won’t be seeing. We walked up to the stairs, and I stopped right by the entrance/exit door. “Listen, I’m going to need you guys to close your eyes real tight for me, don’t open them until I say so, okay?” They nodded their heads in unison. I had Emma in one arm, Jack on my back, and I held Tommy’s hand. As we passed the living room, I looked in and saw that Hendrick had beat the man to a pulp, to the point you would not recognize his face and the woman had vomited all on the couch and herself. Once outside, I handed them to Ms. Ress and went back in to figure out what we were going to do about a possible dead human. .... Hey guys, this one was a long chapter. I really don’t have a reason as to why but, you know it's there. I promise chapters 5 and 6 are the only ones that are about their jobs.
