It was early in the morning, where even the birds were lazy to take flight and yet, Sam was on a journey with her sister accompanying him towards it. Sam and her sister Sera lived in a clustered neighbourhood. They were orphans who lived in a rented dormitory in Tokyo. The year was 1980, where inculcation was at its peak. Students were inspirited for edifying activities such as industrial visit and foreign student exchange program. The industrial visit was for the students to assimilate erudition of the work process in an industry. Immense number of firms kept their activities a secret, only a few companies accedes for these visits. This year the visit was planned to a far-off place, on the island of Japan. Many potent ambassadors had commenced their industry on this island. Sam was one of the students culled for this visit and was on a journey towards it. Sam was 17. A tall skinny guy, who usually dressed bright just like his personality. He could cheer anyone with his words, never earnest, quite charming in looks, and a cordial person. Sam had a younger sister named Sera. She was a year younger than him. Sera was shy yet saccharin girl, tall from any average girl with short hair that suited her well and made her look pretty. She was in love with her brother's best friend Nathan. Nathan was a tall fit person quite resplendent and man of few words. He was a straight-forward guy who infrequently smiles, but amicable in nature. Sam and Nathan were senior students studying in the same class. It was the cessation of the eccentric semester. The senior class had an industrial visit to Okinawa island. They were supposed to leave in a private bus. Sam had already packed his belongings and was walking towards the meeting point. Sera joined Sam along the way in order to meet Nathan. She was wearing a white t-shirt and a jumper. They were walking on the footpath even though the roads were vacant with no sign of any conveyance. Only a paper-boy riding his cycle along with his paper. Sam who is surprised seeing Sera tagging along with him questions, “What’s with you today? You got up early.” Sera, “What are you implying here? You are leaving for a week, last thing I can do is tag along with you.” Sera replies, though her real intention was to meet Nathan Sera was in love with Nathan. She consults her friend about her feelings for Nathan the previous day. After a voluminous feminine discussion, they come to a conclusion that she has to confess her love as soon as possible and Sera decided to do so. Sam sarcastically, “Ya right! there must be something else?” “Gosh! No, I am just worried about you alright.” Sera tries to cover up. “Really????”, Sam couldn’t believe what he just heard. “Yes, what did you think?” Sam gets emotional, “I always thought you’re devils incarnation, but I was so wrong, I’m truly lucky to have a sister caring as you.” “Let's hurry or else you are going to be late.” They were little behind schedule, and Sera was eager to talk to Nathan. After a while, they arrived at the commencement point. The bus was parked at a gas station nearby a gift shop, which was closed. Nathan was outside the bus waiting for Sam. All the other students had arrived, and were seated inside the bus. Sam was the last person to arrive there. The guide who noticed Sam’s arrival asks, “What took you so long?” “Well Sir… my sister here took a lot of time to dress up.” Sam wasn’t lying though. “We were waiting for you, not for your sister so stop making excuses, let's get going we are already behind schedule because of you.” Guide thinks Sam was making a hysterical excuse. “Shut up.” Sera whispers, as she wanted to make a good impression that day. The bus was about to depart, before that Sera wanted to have a word with Nathan, but Nathan got into the bus without saying a word to Sera. Sam turned back, and told his good bye to Sera. “Don't worry about me too much, your big brother will be back in a week.” “Just get on the bus and leave already.” Sera scoffs. She was disappointed because she did not get to speak with Nathan “I thought you said you were worried about me?” Sam asks Sera bluntly replies “Who gives a damn about you, just get going!” Sam gets on the bus dejected. As the bus commences, Sera perceives Nathan from outside that he is seated near the window. She was dejected by Nathan's action, but not dishearten. She had two options either confess now or wait a week for his return. Sera had only a few seconds to decide as the bus started moving, Sera made up her mind, and it was now! She gathered all her courage and yelled, “NATHAN, I LOVE YOU! WILL YOU GO OUT WITH ME?” Not only Nathan but the entire bus heard her. Nathan couldn’t process what Sera had said, and was confused on what to do, Sera just stood there waiting for Nathan’s response as the bus took off. She lost hope, and turned to leave. At the last moment Nathan surprisingly stuck his head out of the window and yelled. Sera was surprised and shocked. Nathan said, “……” Unfortunately, the bus was far off from Sera for her to hear what he said. Nathan was satisfied that he replied to Sera but he was unaware that Sera did not perceive that. He sat back on his seat in the bus. Sam, who was sitting next to Nathan was very puzzled and immediately started asking questions to Nathan, “Don't tell me your friends with me, because you like my sister?” Nathan puzzled, “WHAT???Of course not!” “You came over to my place a lot. I am sure nothing happened because I was there, but what about those times when, I went to the washroom?” Nathan rolled his eyes as he spoke “Nothing happened Sam.” “You two kissed or worst?” Sam wouldn’t stop with his weird questions and assumptions. “What are you even talking about?” “Just thinking about the two of you together makes my head ache.” Nathan's entire journey was filled with unrealistic blizzard questions from Sam and him trying to fix Sam’s misunderstanding as the bus was heading to the island as it supposed to. Meanwhile, Sera had no idea what Nathan had said but she was relieved that she expressed her emotions, she went back home, ran into her bedroom and jumped on her bed, as she was overwhelmed and couldn't control her emotions. She was so happy to finally get it out of her chest...
