The Immortal Daughter

1673 Transylvania, Romania The wails of a newborn echoed in the halls of the castle. The mother had given birth to a beautiful little girl, then promptly died from blood loss. It was to be expected as the babe needed blood to survive, but it was a true sacrifice that her human mother willingly made. Neither parent ever believed that he could get her pregnant as they were different species, but they were overjoyed to be wrong. The cruel and murderous vampire had changed drastically since meeting his beloved Maria. He made a promise to Maria when he found out she was with child, and as he sat next to his wife's body and held his child he was reminded of it. "Promise me Vlad, promise you will love the baby and be the very best father you can be to it. We know I will not survive the birth, the babybwill need you," Maria had said. "I Vladimir von Dracula promise you, my beloved, to love the baby and give them everything it deserves and needs in life. You are my light, and after you are gone, our baby will be my light. I will be the best father I can be, until the day I die." "I will do my best by you, Luminița von Dracula," he vowed looking down at his daughter. Vladimir heard screams just then and knew his enemies had found them. The Van Helsings, who had been hunting him since he fed on and murdered the beginning of their line, Josef Van Helsing back in 1447. "Do not fear, my light, I shall protect you for as long as I live. No harm shall ever come to you," he said standing up. He kissed his wife's forehead, said his goodbyes to her, and knocked the candles over; then swiftly left the room through a secret passage. He ran for both their lives that night, only looking back once to see the room his wife's body lied in engulfed in flames and something that feared him. Looking out the window in fury was a man, a Van Helsing had seen Maria's body. The Van Helsings knew that Maria von Dracula had been pregnant and gave birth to and abomination by their standards. The Van Helsings would hunt both father and babe to the ends of the earth, only stopping once both were dead. 1677 Outside of London, England "Papa, papa look at what I found," Luminița yelled running to her father in the night. "Ah, yes, a firefly, my little light. It is very beautiful," Vlad said looking down at his 4 year old daughter, "But remember we must remain quiet or the bad people will find us, they are very near." "Sorry, papa," Luminița said quietly; her long curly chocolate hair flowing as she looks around fearfully. "It is fine, Luminița. We are almost there, then we will feed and rest. Hopefully we will be safe for a while," the father said as he sped up their pace. Vlad felt it then, they were being surrounded, how the hunters had been able to do so was beyond his knowledge. "Luminița, my light, close your eyes. No matter what you hear, keep them closed," he said picking her up. Vlad knew he could get away; he had to for the sake of his daughter, and the only way was to kill some of them and then continue running. He used his senses to find the best opening for him to run, the youngest of the hunters, a boy no more than 16 years old would be the weakest link. Vlad was not happy with what he had to do but he would protect his child, even at the expense of someone else's child. Running directly at the boy while holding his daughter on his back; Vlad attacked the boy. The boy had barely a chance to scream before his throat was savagely torn into; blood spraying out the wound covering his murderer and the girl on his back. His eyes opened wide in terror as the life faded from his body. "Hurry feed with me Luminița," Vlad said as he urgently put her down and together they fed off the blood left in the Van Helsing boy. "Hurry! Get to Henry," yelled a man's voice running towards them. The two finished their meal and ran fast enough to get away, just0 1 in time to hear the hunting party find the boy, Henry, dead with no blood in his young body. "DRACULA!! YOU KILLED MY BOY!! WE WILL FIND YOU, WE WILL KILL YOU AND YOUR ABOMINATION. I SWEAR ON MY ENTIRE LINE!" 1689 Madrid, Spain "Please, sirs, please let us go," Luminița begged the crazed men. Over the decades, unbeknownst to the Draculas, the Van Helsings had also traveled around the world spreading the story of the immortal monster Vlad von Dracula and his abomination of a daughter. That was how they were captured; not by the Van Helsings, but by the townspeople of Madrid. Now they hung tied by ropes, waiting for the arrival of the hunters, who would finally put an end to their enemy. "Be brave, little light, you will survive," Vlad said in romanian. "Quiet both of you," a man yelled stabbing Vlad in the side. Then the galloping of horses could be heard from outside the building. The Van Helsings had finally arrived to see the predators turned prey. The 5 brotheres entered the building, each with a look mixed of fury and cruel glee. "I finally have you, Dracula" said the eldest. "Now you and your spawn will pain for the death of my son. At dawn you will burn in the sun and we all shall be free of you bloodsuckers." "Spare her, spare my daughter! I beg of you, you know what it is like for your child to die." "Indeed I do," said the man walking up to Vlad, "But do not fear, you will die together. I would never cause another parentto feel the pain you subjected me to a decade ago." The man walked over to the 16 year old girl and held her face, forcing her to look him in the eye and stabbing her in the abdomen with a sharp dagger, causing her to scream. "You deserve far worse than the mercy I am giving you both," he said walking out. As morning came and the sun got brighter first Vlad was taken out and tied again, to a pole this time. Then as the sun rose his screams of pain could be heard from wear Luminița was tied inside. Tears ran down the girl's face as she heard her father being burnt alive by the rising sun. An hour passed before the men came for her. If only she had another 5 minutes, Luminița would have been freed from the ropes. "Burn b***h, and know this is a you will feel in hell," the eldest Van Helsing said before walking outside. They dragged her out and set her on the pole next to where her father had burned and now lied as a pile of ashes. Once they put her on the pole, each brother got on the horses and rode away from the teenager. The Van Helsings left her there to die, they knew she had to die but did not want to watch a young girl be burned alive. Hours later the Van Helsings brothers came back to the building where they had killed their immortal enemies but found only one pile of ashes and an unburnt pole next to the ashes. It had never crossed their minds that perhaps the Dracula's daughter could walk in the sun, she was after hall half human. "We must find her, we must kill her, no matter how much time it takes. We Van Helsings must hunt her until we are dead, and as before our children will continue to hunt her until all bloodsuckers are eradicated!"
