Chapter 1: Kiara's POV
Beta Hemingway resounded like a slap on my face, making me fall to the floor helplessly. I grunted in agony, feeling as if my soul had left my body. "How dare you go against my will? I am selling you to Alpha Damien, and that's final! You can't do anything about it, nor can your freaking late father do anything!" Beta Hemingway added it just after he slapped me. "No, Father. Please don't sell me out to this man; I beg of you," I struggled to say on the floor as tears let down my sullen face. "Mummy, please beg him for me." I caught my foster mom's legs on the floor as she was passing by and begged, but it seemed all my tears did not compromise. She kicked me away with her legs, hissed, and then walked away. My mother always hated me for reasons I knew nothing about, even before the death of my father, but I never knew it was as poignant as this. "You are nothing but a bastard in this family. You are not worthy of being called the Beta's daughter; I think you deserve a place like hell." Tanya, my stepsister, spilt hot and poured me a vanilla drink on the floor. I and Tanya were friends from diapers until she grew up to see that I was more beautiful than her. She was also opposed to the fact that whenever we went out together, those handsome werewolves incessantly sought me out. She was almost invisible to guys whenever we walked together. "I have collected your price, Kiara, so forget about your crocodile tears; in no distant time, you will be in Alpha Damien's chamber. Go and pack your load—those dirty clothes of yours—and get ready," Beta Hemingway added before he left me. I was left in pain on the floor. I cried bitterly as my situation loomed over my head. My nervousness was heightened by the fact that I was sold to a cruel, manipulative, and evil Alpha King of the Crescent Moon Pack. Beta Hemingway was my stepfather. He never loved me as his stepdaughter. Well, I don't blame him because my so-called mother also hated me. I was more or less like a slave in a house built with my father's hard-earned money. I could say that the greatest mistake of my late father was marrying his mate, my mom. And this is one of the reasons why I would not say I liked the mate theory. I was sold out to Alpha Damien of the Crescent Moon pack, all in the name of an arranged marriage, and my mom wasn't saying anything about it. It seemed I was inconveniencing them in the house because everybody welcomed Beta Hemingway's selfish decision with open arms. Who doesn't know Alpha Damien? Almost every wolf knew him. His evil works and selfish desires made him famous all over the country. No she-wolf would pray to have a wicked mate like Alpha Damon. His gruesome act had prevented ladies from marrying him because the dream of every lady was to settle comfortably in her mate's chamber. Technically, with what I've said, I was sold from a frying pan to a ravaging fire. Well, I had no option but to comply with the will of my stepfather. I took it as my fate. It was hard to believe, but here it was happening to me. A few minutes later, some vehicles rode into our chamber. The sound of cars and the blaring signals tell us that it could be Alpha Damon of the Crescent Moon Pack. I stood up from the floor and peered through the window to see Alpha Damone exchanging pleasantries with Beta Hemingway and my mom. I wiped away my tears to not appear weak before this cruel Alpha king. I went inside my room to change my crop top, drenched in Tanya's vanilla, and packed my luggage items. I was ready to face anything coming my way. I was indifferent to the possibility of death so long as it brought joy to my malevolent family. Alpha Damon stepped into our chamber and saw me seated on an iron chair, and just before I greeted him, Beta Hemingway said, "That's Kiara, the girl you bought." "Good, turn around; let me see what you got," Alpha Damons said, gesturing, followed by a crooked smile. Tanya and my mom were there, dashing out fledged chortles as I was told to turn around. "I think you will like her, sir," Tanya whispered. "She has a big butt and flat waistline; she must be a good breeder." My mom added jokingly, amidst murmurs. I turned around, showing my big side and the curvy shape that I got hesitatingly, but not without trepidation. "Good, this is exactly what I want. You did a nice job, Beta Hemingway; I like her so much," Alpha Damons said with an evocative smile. "I will always get you something nice, my king," Beta Hemingway responded with a bright chortle. Alpha gestured at his bodyguards, and they came inside our chamber and picked up my luggage items one after the other. They motioned me out of the chamber to where their cars were halted in a car parking slot behind our rose garden. "Kiara, are you leaving us?" Little Caesar held the tip of my gown and asked bewilderedly. "No, I am coming back." I caressed his chubby cheeks and said I couldn't control my tears. Little Caesar was the last born and always supported me in anything I did. He was a twelve-year-old boy who had always aspired to shift into his wolf at age eighteen. I would have loved to see him turn into the fierce and brave wolf he wanted to become, but things turned unexpectedly. He was brave and strong like his father, Beta Hemingway, but not wicked like him. "Caesar, she doesn't belong here." Tanya pulled his hand away from my gown. I entered the car where Alpha Damon was bearing and looked at my late father's chamber for the last time before the ignition was switched on.
