34 Final Showdown and Victory

Felix watched them gather around another one of their fallen team member’s body and smiled to himself. Even though he was not completely proud of it, taking them one after the other seemed to be the best tactic. He swooped down and landed right on a branch above them. The mad warrior that had dealt him the heavy blow was clearly mad with rage and the rest of them were just as angry. “Isn’t this madness Walter?” Felix said with a smirk “you can’t kill me, I am a god! Stop risking the lives of everyone here and battle me. Just you and I, one on one, to the death,” his voice was sonorous and the offer was tempting. Walt clenched his fist and was about to step forward but was held back by Michael and Ailsa. “Don’t be an i***t Walt, he’ll kill you,” Michael said, a little harshly. “We’re a team, Walt. He knows the only way he can win is if he breaks us up,” Ailsa said, a little gentler then threw Felix a venomous glare “come down here and fight us, if you’re really a god like you claim,” she said and he gritted his teeth. “Fine, I guess I’ll kill you all then,” he said and threw darts at them but they were blocked by shields put up by Jenny. He was not launching any attacks, Walt realized. Michael had been right. Felix could only use the super bomb now and the only way he could use it was by touching his target. “Everyone, long-range attacks, doesn’t let him get close to you.” Walt said to them and they all nodded. Ailsa had retrieved Eclipse, so she flew up and used her skill, arrow of cupid, which locked on a target and did immense damage to them but required high magic points. The shot went flying through the air and although Felix saw it coming, he could not avoid it, so he used a shield that prevented the arrow from hitting him but was broken down on impact and sent him falling to the ground. He landed with a thud and was immediately bombarded by a summons from Scott and fireballs from Michael. He sensed immense danger and his magic points were getting low from using bite the dust too often. So, he started to run away. Walt saw him running and stopped, the others except Hogan stopped as well because they knew Felix was cunning and could lead them to their deaths. Hogan ran forward and glanced behind him, surprised to see the rest of them standing there. “Let’s go! He’s weak now, we can take him,” he called out. “Come back Hogan, we shouldn’t rush blindly after him!” Michael called back but Hogan waved him off and kept running after Felix, following him deep into the forest. Felix was tired and realized they were still following him, so he used a cloaking device of sorts and leapt from tree to tree. Then he stopped, looked back and saw that only one of them was chasing after him. He smiled to himself, wondering how stupid they could be to break up again. He deactivated his cloak and leapt to the ground, facing Hogan with his scepter. “You need to die,” Hogan said and unsheathed his swords from the scabbards strapped to his back. Felix smirked and held out his scepter as a weapon, daring the mad warrior. Hogan rushed forward zealously and rained down hit after hit of his swords. Felix struggled to keep up and was being bettered. Hogan screamed as he battered down Felix until the alchemist had to fall to his knees. “Die,” Hogan said when he finally got Felix on his knees, but as he lifted his swords and was about to swing them down, he noticed that Felix had closed his eyes. With very quick thinking, he ran back and kicked himself off the ground just as Felix detonated himself, but he was too late. The ripples from the explosion threw him back and slammed him against a tree. Felix reappeared on the tree that he had swung down from and flew down to Hogan’s weak body. “You die,” Felix whispered and touched Hogan, activating his super bomb. The mad warrior stirred softly, he saw Felix fly back and he wanted to scream out but exploded and Green Light team lost its first member. Felix sighed and fell to his knees again. He was weak and vulnerable at that moment, he had to get away and rethink his movements. The excessive usage of all the magic had taken a heavy toll on him. “My, my, still as gruesome as always,” a voice came from behind him. He dashed up quickly and held out his scepter at the intruder. His face broke out into a smile when he saw who it was. “I was wondering when you’d show up,” he said and Miranda laughed then walked up to him with a smile that mirrored his. He threw darts at her but she went into stealth and avoided it, then reappeared right behind him. “Is that how you say hi to old friends?” she asked and he swung around to touch her but she leaped away. “You’re not a friend anymore, Alice,” “Why? I haven’t fought you all day…” she said and appeared behind him again, whispering in his ear “you know I don’t like being on the losing side,” he turned to look her in the eyes and she gave him one of her devilish smiles. She was pressed up against his back and rubbed her hands over his shoulder and down his chest. “You expect me to believe that you’re betraying your teammates?” he asked and she threw her head back, laughing. When she stopped laughing, she looked him in the eyes. He was smiling and so was she. It would not be bad to fight with someone, it could make the work easier, he thought. “No, I don’t,” she said and he frowned but before he could understand what she was saying, she drew the dagger she was hiding in her hand and slit his throat. Felix dropped to his knees once again, clutching his throat and looking up at her, shocked. His mind went to his bite the dust skill but his magic points were exhausted. He tried to speak and a chortle of blood came out instead. Then he fell to the ground and died. After a few seconds, he disappeared, leaving all the cards he had acquired behind. Miranda let out a gasp of air and held a nearby tree to stable herself. She was not sure the plan would work when Walt had explained it to her. He and Scott were aware that she and Felix had been on a mission together once while she worked for Minan club. It was that particular mission that cost her a lot of equipment and had propelled her decision to leave the company. Felix had been a major cause of the loss. Working with him had been scary but she knew him well enough and Walt knew that. She had been lurking around all day, fighting the urge to help her teammates, trying to fallow Walt’s instruction, and wait for when Felix was weak enough so she could strike. She only wished she had exposed herself before he killed Hogan. “Alice!” Jenny called out, it was only her and Felix that called her that. She looked up and saw the rest of her teammates running towards her. “Who is this?” Plato asked. Ailsa hugged Miranda and turned around to smile at him “she’s with us,” she said and the demon cat blushed. Everyone was tired and supported themselves, fighting the urge not to collapse to the ground. Miranda walked over to where Felix had disappeared and bent to pick up the cards then handed them over to Walt. He accepted them and all the cards, including the ones of the teams that Felix had destroyed, displayed their team’s name. “This was a major clusterfuck,” Miranda stated matter of factly and crossed her arms “I should have been able to save Hogan,” she said quietly and Ailsa hugged her again. “You can’t blame yourself, we’re lucky we all made it out of this unhurt,” Walt said and they all hummed their agreement. “Well, at least it’s all over,” Scott said. “Not yet,” Plato replied and everyone tensed up. They turned to face him and it dawned on them that the competition was still on-going. Walt nearly facepalmed, wondering if this would be another Michael and Hogan situation where they would have to fight over the prize. Plato laughed when he saw the looks on their faces. They were all surprised to see him laughing. “Relax,” he said and reached into his pouch, pulling out his team’s cards “here, victory isn’t worth it without the rest of my teammates here. You guys fought and avenged them. You deserve these.” “Wow, a-are you sure?” Walt asked. “The man said you deserve it, just take it, come on!” Miranda exclaimed and Plato laughed again. Walt chuckled nervously then accepted the cards. The name on the cards immediately changed to GREEN LIGHT TEAM.   “Aaaannnd, that’s a wrap, folks! Wow! What an exciting season. I have to say, that the last player coming in and winning back their cards from that lone player was one plot twist I did not see coming. The winning team of this year’s Fantasy Annual Regional Team Match is the Green Light team! I was totally rooting for them the whole time. What ab-” Heather muted the speakers and cut off the match commentator. He slammed his fists on the table in anger and ground his teeth. Walt may have outplayed him this time, but it will not happen again. He picked up his phone and placed a call.
