CHAPTER ONE: HELLO NEWBIE

Ava walked into the school hallway with her head down.
Another city, another school.
But this time it was going to be different, she had promised herself.
It wasn't going to be like last time.She was just going to finish her senior year without any drama.
She opened her locker and was about taking her books when someone grabbed her by the arm.
“Hello new girl’, a tall male student with blonde slicked back hair smirked at her.
“My name is Daniel but you can call me Dan’’, he said.
His eyes studied her like a predator about to devour a prey.
She looked around trying to understand what was going on.
Why was this stranger holding onto her so tight, and why was he introducing himself?
She tried to struggle out of his grip but he held firm.
“Don’t worry I don’t bite”, he chuckled leaning closer to her. “So tell me beautiful, what’s your name?”
She could feel his breath on her face, he smelt of alcohol.....
Who drank alcohol so early in the morning.....
“Cut it off Daniel”, a voice spoke, but this one sounded familiar.
She turned her head to the direction of the voice.
It was Roy.
She had met him some days before.
Roy walked up to them, his brows furrowed as he glared down at Daniel.
He was a few centimeters taller than Dan.
“Let go of her Daniel”, he said grabbing her other hand.
“Hey why don’t you get your own fresh meat, she’s mine”, Daniel barked at Roy.
Fresh meat...... she’s mine.
She didn’t even know who the stranger was, all she knew that he was kind of handsome and his grip was so tight her veins were literally pulsing out.
Ava couldn’t wrap her head around what was happening and why was no one butting in.
Everyone just stood there taking pictures and whispering to each other.
.......including the teachers.
The two boys stood there looking at each other like they had a score to settle, while stood in between them like a frightened sheep in between two dangerous animals.
But Roy wasn’t ready to back off from the fight, especially when it concerned Ava.
He took a liking for Ava, the first day he saw her.
The time she stood in his home with her mum. He couldn't take his eyes off her for one minute. It was as if time stood still and the only thing he could see at that moment was her.
Those clear blue eyes that lay perfectly below her thin eyebrows or how her smile could lit up an entire room.
To him, she was fragile, innocent and very beautiful.
.....And he wasn’t going to allow Daniel lay his filthy hands on her, especially after what he did to him.
Daniel was Roy's best friend but they had a falling out after Daniel betrayed his trust.
Roy drew Ava closer to him, his gaze still fixed on Daniel.
“You don’t want to fight with me Dan, remember what happened the last time”, he spoke angrily shifting his weight from one foot to another.
Dan finally released his grip on Ava.
He used his left hand to he ruffle his hair while letting out a hearty laugh.
“This isn’t over Xander”, he snickered, his tone a little higher.
“Welcome to Winston Academy gorgeous, till we meet again”, he said to Ava and walked away
Ava looked up at Roy, observing how dangerously close she was to him and her heart started beating faster than before. Her face was a few inches from his broad chest.
She took in his cologne it smelt expensive and overpowering.
It was as if Roy noticed and drew back nervously.
“Sorry about that”, Roy said looking down at Ava, who clutched her book so tightly to her chest.
Beads of sweat started to form on her forehead.
First of all, What just occurred?, did two guys just fight over her in the hallway?
Secondly, she had decided that she wasn’t going to involve herself in any drama and here she was, on the first day of school in-between a drama she knew nothing about.
“I have to go”, she mumbled walking past Roy and disappearing into the sea of students gathered in the hallway.
Ava made her way to class. It wasn't easy though.
Winston Academy was very large and the principal had said they ran of volunteers to tour new students so she had to find her way using a map she gave her.
As she walked in, the students in the class started murmuring.
“Just great”, she thought.
The whole fiasco hadn’t died down.
What a great way to start as a new student.
She walked all the way to the back seat as she noticed students either looking at their phones, at her or whispering things she couldn’t understand.
Was it her or was this school becoming more weirder than it already was?
What were they looking at, was anything on her face, was her clothes stained?
Frustrated she sat down on the classroom chair and buried her head in a book.
“Hi”, the girl sitting in front of her turned to her and spoke to her in the tiniest voice she has ever heard.
“I’m Samantha and you’re trending on the school’s gossip blog!!”, she exclaimed shoving her phone in front of Ava’s face.
Ava looked closely at the screen in front of her, as she read what was written on it:
A good morning to the Elites of Winston Academy or should I rather say a chaotic morning.
I know must of us have heard about the new girl in school today.
What’s her name again?
Not important to me.
Anyways according to the news reaching me and the various photos and videos circulating.
Our beloved newbie found herself in a bit of an altercation this morning.
Not only that, it was between the two hottest guys in school.
Daniel Anderson and Roy Carter!!!!
If she only knew how many girls would die to be in her situation.
What does this new girl have up her sleeve?
And why are the two most eligible boyfriends of Winston after her?
