Quin's POV
" Sir. We're here," Taylor, my assistant said as he parked into the private clinic's parking space.
Sherry had just asked me how quickly could I get her divorce papers. I was about to give her an answer, but it didn't seem like the right time. She wasn't doing well, if anything, she was beginning to look a little pale.
" Sherry, we're here," I said and climbed out of the car.
" Sir, I'll carry Miss Sherry for you," Taylor said.
" No!" I said abruptly and loudly, but quickly composed myself.
" I'll do it myself," I said and carried Sherry. Her doctor was already waiting for her when we arrived.
" Sherry?" The doctor said to her with a concerned look on his face.
" Doc... help me," Sherry cried out, obviously in pain. Seeing her like that made me angry, because all of this was caused by that good for nothing husband of hers.
"Of course. Put her here," The doctor said and pointed at the hospital bed.
" Quin," she called out for me and held out her hand.
" I'm here," I said gently holding her hand.
" Thank you..." she said as they rolled her away in a hospital bed.
" Sir, you can't go past here. Your wife is in safe hands sir," the nurse said and left before I could explain that she was not my wife.
I stood outside the door and watched as they disappeared with her down the corridor. I took a seat at one of the chairs in the waiting area.
I shouldn't even be here, let alone worry about her. Especially after what happened seven years ago, but I couldn't help it, not since that night I found her by the side of the road waiting for a taxi.
If I didn't know her well, I wouldn't have even been able to tell that it was Sherry, because the Sherry I know, is nothing like the woman in there.
" Sir... Are you going to tell the Bennet's about what happened to Miss Sherry?" Taylor asked me.
Sherry's family and mine are very close. though my last name is Thorne, I am heir to the Blackwell's dynasty. Seven years ago I left the country after Sherry turned down my proposal. Back then, she was madly in love with Tyler.
So much so that she even threatened to take her own life if they didn't let her marry him. Against everyone's wishes, they reluctantly agreed to let her marry Tyler, but only if she left her title as Heiress of the Bennet's family.
Though everyone knows about the Bennet's and their successful businesses, they kept a low profile. So keeping her identity wasn't going to be a problem. Still, I didn't think that she could do it.
Being with a man like Tyler was a downgrade for her. Her whole life Sherry has had things done for her. She didn't even know how to boil an egg let alone cook.
I honestly didn't think that the marriage would last. Leaving everything behind, meant she would have to start over on her own. I didn't think she could endure the hardship that came with being a regular person.
I guess I was right. Seven years later and I can't even recognize the woman she has turned into, if her parents knew what she was going through, it would break their hearts.
I don't know how long ago it all began, but after what I saw, I know that it could have been going on for a while now. Not only is he cheating on her, but he also humiliated her. I got angry just thinking about it. I punched the chair and stood up.
" Tyler, call the law firm. Let them know that I might need a divorce papers soon," I said to Taylor.
" You're going to help her? I thought you didn't like Miss Bennett!" Taylor said.
I don't blame him for saying that. Sherry and I have been rivals since childhood, so naturally, everyone thinks that we don't like each other.
" It's complicated," I said and stood up.
" Make the call," I said to him.
" Yes sir," he said.
I couldn't stop thinking about Sherry. If she truly wants to end her marriage, I am going to help her cut ties with that man.
I don't know what kind of man would leave his wife and child stranded at night. If she was my wife, I would have never allowed that to happen. Neither would I have allowed what happened today to happen.
I would never treat the mother of my children like that. I know I can't turn back time, that I can't make her choose me over him, but if she's willing to leave him, then not all hope is lost.
When I first met her, she was with her daughter. Though she was asleep, she looked like a sweet girl. Her son on the other hand, not only does he look like his father, but he also acts like him.
I don't know how Sherry managed to raise a son like that. Seeing how he pushed her and how he spoke to her, I am sure that he must have learned all of that from his father.
If I wasn't there to witness all of this, I wouldn't have believed what I saw. Everyone thinks that Tyler is a good business, a loving father and husband, but in reality, he is a scumbag.
I saw the woman he wants to replace Sherry with, though she was wearing expensive clothes, she looked cheap with all the heavy make-up and flashy clothes, nothing compared to the elegant and sophisticated woman Sherry is.
Tyler must have been blind to mess around while he has a woman like Sherry in his life.
" Taylor," I said to my assistant after he made the call to the law firm.
" Yes sir," he said.
" I want information on Sherry. I want everything on her life for the last seven years," I said to him.
" Yes sir, I'll get on it," he said.
Just then, my phone rang in my pocket. I took it out to see who was calling. It was my brother, he must have heard that I was back in the country. I didn't answer the call.
Then, Sherry's doctor came to find me in the waiting area.
" Quin Thorne?" he called out.
I stood up. " That's me," I said and walked up to the doctor.
" Doctor, how is Sherry doing?" I asked him.
" She lost a lot of blood, I have to keep her overnight but she won't listen to me. I am hoping that you can convince her," the doctor said to me.
" I'm sorry doc, but Sherry and I are not that close. I am the last person she would listen to," I said to him.
" I don't know about that. She kept on asking about you," he said to me.
" She did?" I asked, surprised that she would even do that.
" Yes. She wants to see you," he said.
" Okay..." I said without hesitation. I followed him to the hospital room and found her laying on a bed with an IV attached to her.
" Quin, you're still here," she asked, sounding surprised that I was still there.
" Yes, I couldn't just leave. How are you feeling?" I asked.
" I am fine... Look, I wanted to thank you, for being there for me today. It meant a lot," she said to me.
" It's nothing. I just happened to be at the right time at the right place," I said to her.
" Still. I want to thank you," she said to me.
" Dinner would do," I said to her. I didn't even think about what I said, only after I said it did I realize that I had just suggested dinner with my rival.
" It's a deal then," she said. Surprising me even more. I thought she hated me, I didn't think she'd agree. Seeing that she seemed somewhat fine, I decided to bring up what the doctor said.
" The doctor said that he might keep you over night, is there anyone you would like me to call? Let them know that you're here," I said to her.
" No need. I'll be going home as soon as the drip is done," she said to me.
" But the doctor clearly said that you need rk stay over night, what if something happens to you?" I asked.
" Quin, I am a mother. I can't be sick. I have to keep moving. That is why I need you to help me with this divorce," she said.
" You were serious about that?" I asked.
" As a heart attack," she said with a determined look on her face.
