Sherry's POV
The loud roar from Tyler scared Nina and woke her up. Here he was asking about the man that dropped me off and hasn't even asked how Nina was doing.
" Mommy..." Nina said in a gruffy and sleepy tone.
" Sherry, I asked you a question!" Tyler angrily said and grabbed my arm.
I looked at Nina's face, though she was still a little sleepy, her heart was racing, Tyler's anger was scaring her.
" It's okay baby, don't be scared, daddy is just a little upset okay?" I said and kisses her cheek.
" Okay," Nina said and closed her eyes.
" You're scaring Nina, let me put her to bed first, we'll talk after," I whispered and carried Nina to her room.
I tucked her in bed, putting away Quinn's blanket on the couch.
" Mommy..." Nina said.
" Yes baby, are you feeling sick again?" I asked her.
" No... Please don't argue with daddy," she said in a small tone, her voice was so low, I almost missed what she was trying to tell me.
It broke my heart, to see my daughter like that. Given the way things have been going lately, it's not surprising that she would ask that of me. But Nina is only six years old, whatever is happening between her father and me shouldn't be affecting her. It's not fair to my kids.
" Nina, mommy and daddy have grown up things to talk about, but I want you to know this, no matter what happens, your father and I love you and your brother very much okay?" I said to her.
" Okay..." she said.
" Good girl..." I said and kissed her.
I love my children more than anything in this world. Though I was thinking of ending my marriage, I fear that it would only put my kids through tremendous stress, I don't want that.
When I gave birth to my children, I made a promise to myself, that I would do anything and everything to give them a happy home, no matter what I had to give up, that no sacrifice was too much for them.
So, I can't just let Zoey come in and tear apart the last seven years of our lives. Family means everything to me, that means that I have to think about what's important, not just for me, but for my children as well.
Walking down the stairs, I found Tyler waiting for me at the bottom. His sleeves were rolled up, his tie was disheveled and I could smell the scent of cigarettes from where I was standing.
" Sherry! Who was that man who brought you home with my daughter? Didn't you say Nina was sick? Was that some excuse to sneak off to see another man with my daughter?" he asked angrily as he grabbed my arm and pulled me to the living room.
The angry look in his eyes was a little scary, though Tyler has never laid a hand on me before, I can't forget how he raised his hand to hit me at the party. If Nina hadn't stepped up, I'm certain that he would have hit me.
Now here he is acting like a jealous lover over some guy he doesn't even know. All of this, after he ignored my numerous calls to come and pick us up at the clinic.
"So now you remember that you have a daughter?" I asked him, only fueling his anger even further. I needed this reaction, I need him to see that he is not the perfect father he thinks he is.
" What's that supposed to mean? When have I ever forgot that I had a daughter?" He said and let go of my hand.
" Didn't I tell you that Nina was not feeling well?" I asked him.
" It was a small allergic reaction, anyway, she's fine now isn't she?" he said angrily. Still refusing to see what I was trying to show him.
He didn't even ask if she was fine, he just assumed she was fine. All of this because Zoey gave her a silver bracelet, not that he cares, because he didn't even ask how she got an allergic reaction to begin with.
"Do you even know how she got that allergic reaction?" I asked him.
" I don't know, but if you were paying attention to her like you should have, none of this would have happened. You are a housewife Sherry, I give you everything. You have one job, to take care of the kids, even that you can't do!" he said.
I should have known that this would somehow turn into my fault. When it comes to Zoey, it looks like I can't even compete. I couldn't say anything after that, I just shook my head.
" You're right, maybe I should have done better, but you haven't exactly been the perfect husband yourself either," I said to him.
" Meaning what? Haven't I always given you and the children everything you need? You live in a mansion, you drive a fancy car, designer clothes, jewelry. I have been more than good to you," he said to me.
" You're right, except that you didn't mention how your secretary is constantly meddling in our lives," I said to him.
" What's that supposed to mean?" he asked.
" I want you to fire Zoey," I said to him.
The look on his face changed instantly, it was as if I had just cursed him out, but things have gone far enough. We have been having a lot of problems as of late, at the centre of all the chaos, was Zoey.
" Why should I fire her? Zoey is more than qualified to be my secretary. She went to a good school and had great recommendations, why should I fire her?" he said to me.
" I don't believe that you can't find someone better than her in this city. Zoey is your employee and yet she acts like she's the hostess of this family. She has no boundaries and you have no business working with someone like her," I said to him.
" Don't tell me that you're still sulking about Leith's party. Zoey and Leith get along well, she wanted to do something nice for him so she organized a party for him. Instead of being grateful, you want me to fire her?
Sherry, I know that you have no career, but you're a good wife. I love our family so stop getting jealous over Zoey okay?" he said to me.
Nina is six years old, and even she wouldn't fall for this. Tyler is here defending Zoey, turning a blind eye to everything that has been happening since Zoey popped into our lives.
" Tyler! I am Leith's mother! The one that carried him and almost died giving birth to him. What right does Zoey have to step over my authority? If I didn't know better, I would say that she was your mistress! Unless if she is, that would explain why you won't fire her!" I said angrily.
" You're acting crazy. Zoey went out of her way to make Leith's party memorable, our son was happy with the party, why should I fire her for going beyond her work and helping us with making our son happy?" He said dryly.
" You just focus on taking care of our children and our home. Be a good wife, and that man that brought you home... there better not be a next time. You're a married woman, it's inappropriate for a man to bring someone's wife home that late," he continued to say.
I wonder what he would do if he found out that it was Quinn Blackwell who brought me home. Would he still be this angry or would he ask me to set up a meeting with him?
I happen to know that Tyler has been trying to go into business with Quinn for years now, but everytime he proposed something, he would be turned down. No matter how good his proposal might have been.
My family and the Blackwell's are close, though Quinn and I are rivals, one call from my dad would have solved Tyler's problem. Besides, Tyler just told me to basically stay away from him, I suppose I should listen to him, no need to tell him about Quinn Blackwell.
" Fine, I'll do as you ask... I'll stay away from him," I said.
" So... there is something going on between you and him? Who is he Sherry? That was no ordinary man. " he asked angrily, like he was getting angry all over again.
" No one important, he just happened to be there when Nina and I needed him, that's all," I said.
" You better not be lying to me. You're my wife, and I'll end anyone who dares to take you away from me," he said.
I couldn't help but scoff at his words. It was amusing to hear him act like he cared about me, when he constantly chose Zoey over me where was all of this?
