Needless to say my pack needs me, mother can not do everything by herself and there are a few things i need to look into.

"Alpha Constantine " Sipho is by my side as soon as i go through the cloaking spell. It is what keeps my people here in Forestfod safe.

Our land stretches out as far as the eye can see, with a population of more than 5000 werewolves it's a challenge keeping them safe while interacting with the world at the same time.

"You smell nice" Sipho mumbles under his breath.

"Bring me the healer " i instruct him. I greet as much people as i can before i reach the pack house and rush to my office only to find my mother and Marissa.

"Mother" i nod in her direction as she sits across from Marissa on a seemingly new beige couch.

I sit behind my desk pinching my temple "I need to use the office"

"Is that her you reek of?"

Ofcourse Marissa told mother.

"I am not here for that"

"How dare you..."

My annoyance with Marissa spills over to my Mother.

"How dare you mother!" I smash my fist on the desk "I need to use the office " i point at the door and they bow their heads and leave.

I know my mother is offended but i do not have the patience to baby anyones feelings today plus i do not want to hear them judge me about the girl, i know mother will want to force me to to stay away from her as if i can not do that myself. Because i can.

"Alpha Constantine " Maria knocks lightly on the open door.

"Come in"

She closes the door behind her and i can not help but smile when she smiles at me, she is such a sweetheart.

"To whom does this beautiful scent belong?" She wiggles her eyebrows and i find myself laughing.

"That is partially the reason i am here" i sigh standing to unbutton my shirt and the smile is gone from her eyes.

"What happened?" She places her big bag on my table to take a closer look.

" I have no clue how to explain this without sounding crazy, i was attacked in someone else's dream and i woke up like this" i shrug.

She rummages around her bag and starts mixing stuff into a paste and it really burns when it touches my skin.

She leaves promptly after without saying a word which is strange because everytime i see her she tries to make me talk even when she knows i do not want to.

While my mother handles everything when i am not here i still have to approve everything.

So i just bury myself in paperwork.

Sipho comes in without knocking as usual.

"The kids are real upset you didn't show up for training this week" he eases himself on the chair across from me.

"I was preoccupied " i tell him not looking up.

"Something very important i take it since you didn't let me know or your mother for that matter"

I look up at him seriously "So mother told you... why am i not surprised?"

"I was worried, you do still remeber that you have a family right?"

"I miss one training session... one! And you act like this?" I laugh at him.

"Actually two"

"Oh no ofcourse forgive me sir for my mistake"

He laughs out loud giving me the finger.

"How is the old lady doing?"

"Well you know how she is, she won't let anyone touch her when you're not here, i thought she was close to dying since her year long silence but turns out i was wrong she started going crazy again yesterday "

"Let me go check on her" i stood up.

"How come we got a crazy oracle?"

"Shut up and grow up" i leave him.

As expected i find her by the edge of the forest, i kneel beside her to get her attention and her wrinkly hands find my face and she smiles.

"Well hello there" the corners of her eyes wrinkle and her mouth, i have always wanted to touch her and feel it but i can never get myself to do it.

"Your feet look horrible, let me take you inside"

I help her up and we walk ever so slowly to the pack house.

"You still haven't found your mate?"

"Oh my God why do you always have to bring that up?"

She laughs heartily "Because an Alpha needa a Luna, but i hear you have a new friend"

"I forget sometimes that you know everything " i help her up the steps.

"Don't be silly no one knows everything"

"You have outlived 4 generations you know everything"

"How come you never carry me?" She laughs as i sit her on the chair.

"Because it is very rude to carry old people" i tease getting a bowl with warm water, soap and a towel.

"I want to meet her"

"Who?" I know exactly who she is talking about but i focus on washing her feet in hopes that she will drop it.

"Your friend"

"Alpha Constantine someone is here to see you" Sipho has this annoying thing of sneaking around and not knocking.

"I'm busy" i snap.

"It's an emergency Alpha Ryan is here"

Maggie rushes to takeover from me.

"Go Maggie will help me"

"Be good " i kiss her hand and head to my office.

I find alpha Ryan pacing in my office.

"Alpha Ryan" i say to get his attention.

"Alpha Constantine, i apologize "

I sit down and gesture for him to sit, i notice now the dark circles around his eyes; he looks older than he actually is .

"What can i do for you today?"

"I need help, my home is under attack and I'm losing all my troops, good people are dying. It's my job to protect them and i have failed"

"I will gather my people so you can bring us up to speed with everything and depending on the situation we will leave at dawn"

"Just like that?" He blinks in suprise.

"That is what my pack is here for to protect those who cannot protect themselves; we do not make excuses here"

The meeting conviens an hour later i look through all the maps and i have the perfect strategy with minimum damage.

At dawn we head into the forest in our wolf forms, the team of healers is to wait nearby for any casualties. There is not chance to stop and think when we arrive there are screams and the stench of blood in the air.

I leap first and land on the largest wolf there and rip out his throat without a second thought.

The villagers are led to safety and i am forced to admit to myself that i might be a little too vicious today as my pack watches as i tear the last wolf to pieces, i pace trying to calm myself, my wolf is quiet, it has been just me since i met her. I growl in anger and take off in a sprint.

Still when i get home i pace growling, all i remember is a putrid smell before everything goes blank.

I wake up in my old room, my head pounding, i take a shower and get dressed. i need answers.

"Thank God you're awake" Sipho says.

"What happened?"

"In short you couldn't snap out of your fit of rage, and you were subdued... so to speak. You've been out for three days"

"What!"

I am still angry for what they did to me but i am glad eveyone is safe and the injured were taken care off.

Things have settled but i am unable to so i announce that i am going and do my best to avoid my mother as i leave.

To add to my list of failures am unable to stay at the hotel, i can still smell her on the bed, i need to see her just a little then i will leave her alone.

"We need her" my wolf makes an appearance as i am driving.

"We do not need her, we just... we are confused"

"I'm not "

"Why were you quiet all this time?"

"I was sleeping" he says simply as if that explains everything.

"Stop sleeping for days at a time, i was worried"

"Whatever let's get our girl"

"She is mot our GIRL you need to stop this madness, we have Marissa"

"You have Marissa, i hate her"

"Be quiet, i am tired now"

The drive seems too long and i have to lie to her landlady and say i had an appointment so she can open the gate for me.

Why is my heart pounding? I knock on the door and immediately hear sniffling. I try the door and it opens, she is sitting on the floor with her hands on her face.

"Hey" i walk carefully towards her and she doesn't stop sniffling. I bend and reach out to take he hands and that seems to make her cry even more she throws her arms around me.

"Take me with you, take me away from here" she cries. i pull her up and she wraps her legs around my torso hugging me tight and crying even harder.

I do not question her, i lock up and struggle to put her in the car as she refuses to let go and i assure her that she is okay and i will not leave her.

I just about lose my mind as i drive and i can smell the blood off of her and i pray it's not what i think it is, it can not be i am wrong, maybe she just got hurt a little, i will do a thorough check whenwe get to the hotel, she will be fine, i trust her she would never do that.

I cannot move fast enough to get to her, she is wide awake just crying, she wraps her arms and legs around me once more and the smell of blood is so strong, her sleeves feel wet but i cannot panic now i need to keep my head.

"She's hurt" my wolf howls, i feel like my head is going to slit into two.

I stand her up to access her and she looks like she might pass out.

I put my hands around her soft face to make her look at me "Hey what happened?" i need to stay calm.

She pulls up her sleeves and the blood is drained from my face, there is blood gushing down her arm "I didn't die" she screams tears steaming down her face and something within me breaks.

I sit in the ER on the plastic chairs waiting i feel like i cannot breathe when the doctor appears, i have never been so terrified in my life.

"She's going to be okay, we just need to make some assessments to see if she can be discharged or she needs to be transferred "

"Can i see her?"

"You can" he shows me where she is.

She is sleeping her arms bandaged from the wrist to the elbows.

What is wrong with me? Why did i not just rush to the hospital faster when i suspected, she could have died.
