That evening after the park, Rachel and I had arrived to my house, soon to be our house, to talk to both of our families. I gathered her mother and brother and my father in the tea room to formally announce that I wanted to marry Rachel and receive their blessings.
Oliver was tense and distant at first but when he looked at Rachel she only smiled and nodded and he relaxed. I now knew that his uneasiness was regarding his sister’s condition-he had feared I’d break her heart after learning the truth. I respected his devotion and protectiveness over her, I’d expect nothing less from him.
