Five years later
I got ready for the collaboration deal I had with Clemson Groups. How long has it been since I last stepped foot into Rivers Edge Pack? After getting dressed, I headed downstairs.
“ You were quick,” Lucas who seemed to have been waiting for me said.
“ I can’t leave a wrong impression, can I?” I grinned.
“ I know when you’re looking for trouble and this is one of the times,” Lucas smirked.
“ Hmm. I mean, it’s been five whole years. It’s only polite of me to give them a surprise,” I said.
“ I’m not complaining,” he snickered as he walked towards me. He ran a hand through my hair. “ You look gorgeous today,” he complimented before brushing his lips against my forehead.
“ So do I look terrible on other days?” I teased.
“ You’re always stunning, love,” he kissed me softly on the lips.
“ Mr. Thorsoon, you’re going to ruin my makeup so patiently wait for me to return before you go feral,” I tapped his nose with my index finger.
“ I like it when you flirt with me,” he looked at me like he had fallen in love again.
Lucas was my fiance. He was the Alpha of Forest Heart pack where I’m originally from.
“ When did I flirt with you?” I feigned ignorance just to see his reaction. “ Where’s Zaide by the way?” I asked.
“ He’s probably having his bath right now. You know how much he loves his bath time,” Lucas said.
“ I know. He’s such an adorable pumpkin,” I cooed. I had always been worried about Zaide even after he got the treatment he needed. Watching him try to hang on to life while been confined was something that I couldn’t erase from my mind even if I wanted to.
“ You worry about him too much. Zaide is no longer the fragile baby you once knew. He’s becoming a big boy,” Lucas knew how much I worried about him even though he was already four years old.
“ I know I should really stop worrying but I can’t,” I sighed.
“ That’s what makes you a mom though,” he patted my head gently so as to not ruin my hair.
“ Right?”
“ Do you plan on having breakfast? I don’t like it when you skip meals,” he said.
“ I’d eat breakfast especially if you’re the one making it but I don’t want to do that today. Not when I have something this important to attend to,” I didn’t want to feel stuffy while being there.
“ I understand. How about fruits then? That should be fine and it’s still better than eating nothing,” he was such a a health fanatic.
“ I can’t argue with you,” I accepted my fate.
He got the maids to cut up some fruits for me. Just then, the door bell rang.
“ I’ll get it,” he volunteered. A few moments later, he came to the kitchen with Sasha.
“ Good morning, ma’am,” she bowed her head slightly.
“ I was beginning to wonder where you went off to. I was beginning to wonder why you were running late,” I remarked.
“ I had to prepare some things that’s why,” she explained. Sasha was now my personal assistant since I trusted her more than anyone else.
“ We’ll head out in a bit, after I finish this,” I pointed at the fruit bowl in front of me. “ You want?” I asked her.
“ I’m good,” she politely declined. Such a backstabber - leaving me to suffer alone.
Once I was done eating, I was finally ready to go out and put on the show I had wanted for such a long time.
“ Let Zaide know that I won’t be long,” I said to Lucas.
“ Sure. Don’t think about it too much, I’ll take care of him,” he assured me. We kissed again briefly before stepping out of the house.

The drive to the Clemson company building took quite sometime but we arrived eventually.
Putting on my shades, my bodyguards opened the door of the van for me.
“ I hope I don’t have to deal with reporters today,” I groaned as I stepped out.
“ No one knows anything about the collaboration between your company and Clemson Groups,” Sasha assured me.
“ Alright. That’s definitely reassuring,” I heaved.
Getting into the company, I was welcomed by a lady who introduced secretary of the CEO. She took us to the VIP elevator and we headed straight for the conference room where we’d be using for the signing of the contract and the discussion of the projects we were to carry out.
“ She’s here, sir,” the secretary announced as we walked into the conference room.
“ I didn’t think CEO Vexer would send a representative instead of coming here himself,” Zarek’s voice was exactly how I remembered. He was yet to notice me.
“ Let me introduce myself since it seems your data isn’t so current,” I placed my hand on the conference desk. “ I’m Freya Vexer. Daughter of CEO Vexer and current CEO of Vortex Cooperation.”
“ F-Freya?” Zarek stuttered with wide eyes.
“ It’s CEO Freya to you. Now then, shall we begin?”
