April woke up to the warm rays of sunlight streaming through the window, yet the light only added to the heaviness she felt in her chest. Her body ached, the sharp pain between her legs a bitter reminder of the night before. She squeezed her eyes shut, willing the memories to go away, but they played on a loop in her mind. How she got to the room was a mystery to her. “How could I have been so foolish?” she whispered to herself, clutching the bedsheet tightly.
