"Please don't do this to me, James. I am promising you I will definitely provide you with a hair soon. Just give me some time." I looked at my Mommy crying while holding Daddy's leg trying to make him give her another chance although I didn't understand what chance she was talking about. But Daddy was not looking a bit happy and my eyes widen when he jerked his leg roughly making Mommy hit the floor. "You are a loser Fiona. You can not even get pregnant yet you are saying that I need to give you a chance. Just accept the fact that you are a barren woman and I don't want to be the one to call a barren woman's mate. So, get out of my house and also from my life." Daddy yelled making me whimper in fear while clutching onto the wolf plushie in my hand. Mommy tried to say something but a bundle of paper hit her on the face. With trembling hands, Mommy picked up the papers and read the words written in them. "I want you to sign the divorce papers and leave my life for good. I am not going to give you a penny from my hard-earned money so don't think about asking for any alimony." Daddy said while Mommy just nodded her head in response. Mommy wrote something on the paper in silence and walked out of the house without looking back. I run behind her because I didn't want to be alone with Daddy as he slapped me all the time without any fault. "Mommy! Take me with you please." I called out to her but still she didn't stop. Suddenly, I heared the sound of a car so I turn toward the left but before I could register what's going on everything turned black around me. I wake up with a gasp and look around myself to see that I am still in my bedroom. So, it means whatever I have just seen is my dream. Actually, not a dream but a vivid memory of the last time of seeing my mother. "Madi, are you okay?" I hear my best friend, Amanda's voice drift through the darkness of the room. "Yeah, I am alright." I reply feeling my eyes getting moist because again I am lying to her. The lights get turned on and soon enough I feel Amanda sit on my bed. I close my eyes when she starts wiping my tears before hugging me gently. I clutch her tightly while heavy sobs break through my lips. I have been bottling up so many things inside me that now, it feels suffocating to even breathe. "Cry as much as you want, Madi. God knows how much pain you are feeling." Amanda says while rubbing my back gently. After a few minutes, I pull away from the hug and wipe the tears with the back of my hands. I think I have cried enough for a day. Also, I don't want to make Amanda worry anymore. She already has a lot on her plate so I should keep hiding my pain from her. "I am feeling much better, you should go and sleep. Tomorrow is a very big day for you." I remark smiling at her but I doubt my smile is reaching my eyes. "Yeah, a very big day where I have to leave you here all alone." She replies sarcastically making me chuckle. "Silly girl, you are getting married to your mate so keep the sassiness away for some time. I don't think your in-laws will like this attitude of yours." I let out. "Like I give a f**k what they think of me. I will always speak whatever comes to my mind. They can keep their arrogance into them." She replies making me shake my head. "Okay, fine you can do whatever you want. But right now, you need to get your beauty sleep so that you don't look like a zombie tomorrow." I say. She huffs but obliges to my words. When the lights get turned off again, I slip into the cover while thinking about the incident that changed my life completely.
