Dangerously Seductive

Saturday 13th of August 2022 United States , Boston ... Author's POV "Jasper did you not hear the announcement?!" Emma asked as she moved her chair backwards towards his cubicle. "I did " He replied reluctantly . She immediately tucked her long wavy blonde hair getting in her face behind her ear . "Then what are you still doing here?!, Officer Abani just called for you !" "You know how strict he can be !" She said. He slowly turned to his laptop and continued typing away . "Ever since officer Abani was transferred to our unit , you've been behaving like you've just gotten a new job somewhere else!" She said . "Will you get your ass up and go hear what he has to say!" "Whatever!" He mumbled to himself and hissed as he stood up reluctantly, slowly tucking in and arranging his shirt and tie . "You'd explain this behavior alright?!, But not now !" "Go answer the Boss first!" She called out to him as he walked out. He rolled his eyes totally uninterested on whatever Emma was on to before finally walking out. Jasper and Emma had been friends since highschool, and now they were practically best friend. The only friend each of them probably had. They had similar fields of interest and we're quite alike , thus they bonded quite nicely. After they left high school, they studied Criminal Justice together in New York University School of Law. And now they work together as a Federal Bureau of Investigation Agent (FBI Agent) Officer Abani's office .... "Good day sir " he greeted with a salute as he walked into his office . "Good morning Jasper have your seat please" he replied gesturing to the chair in front of him. "Thank you sir!" Jasper murmured and took his seat. "I have a task for you!" Officer Abani started . "Our correspondents in Sioux falls has requested that we send them one of our best hands " he continued. "For some months now there have been cases of a particular syndicate terrorizing the city!" "It's been a been an hard nut to crack for them so they're asking for help!" He said. "I asked for a list of suitable Detective for the jobs and I decided to choose you for the job". " I've seen you do your thing and I'm well aware of what you can do!" "I'm not going to ask whether you're interested, because whether or not you are , I've decided that you'll be going!" He concluded and jasper just swallowed hard where he sat. "Sir , yes Sir " he replied. "Perfect!" "Here's the file on the case !" Officer Abani said to him and handed over a flash drive. "Everything you need for the case is in there !" "And anything you're working on right now I'll have another detective take over" "Get your bags together, you leave for Sioux falls tommorow " he concluded and placed a flight ticket on the table . "Tommorow?!" "Yes got any problem with that?!" "You're an officer you signed up for moving without prior notices so you should be used to it!" He said "I am sir !" Jasper said. "Good !, You can get going now " he dismissed and Jasper stood up bowed respectfully before finally walking out . **** "The hell!" Jasper cussed as he walked back into his small cubicle, took off his cap and slammed it on the table. Apparently the other detective sharing this room with him weren't in and the few people in were paying no attention at all to him. "Get your bags together, you leave for Sioux falls tommorow!" He mimicked angrily as he stared at the flight tickets he had angrily dropped on his table . "You're back!" Emma said as she walked inside and to Jasper. "From your demeanor the meeting doesn't seem pleasant" she said . He slowly picked up the flight tickets and handed it over to her, she took it from him and carefully looked at it. "You're leaving?!" She whispered. "Yaay" he replied sarcastically throwing his hands in the air and slumped on his chair. "I- I don't understand, why is it just for only you!" She stuttered. "I have no idea also!, All I know is that I'm leaving tommorow!" "What ?!" She whispered and moved closer to him , she rested on his table in a way that his chair was in front of her and they were facing each other. "For how long ?!" "As long as it takes " he replied and she nodded. "I can't believe my modified house help is leaving me for three months !" She joked, trying desperately to cover how bad she felt that he was actually leaving for another city for no one knows how long "Who's gonna make me breakfast and coffee every morning " she added and they both laughed. "That's true," he said with a small smile, "I don't think we've ever been apart for that long!" He said. "Are you sure you can survive on your own without me ?!" He asked teasingly. "I should be asking you that!" She retorted. Jasper and Emma were kind of in like what the youths call situationship , anyone who sees them at first glance would most probably think they were in a relationship. Because they did practically every thing together and even lived together, but they weren't . It is more of an undefined friendship , Emma is obviously smitten by Jasper but he only saw her as just his best friend, and had no idea about her feeling or maybe he knew but decided not to see it. As far as he knew she was a great friend and he intended to keep it that way . "But seriously, I'll miss you" he said and she smiled. "Make sure to call me everyday alright?!" She said. "Sure thing!" "Don't be so sad , we still have the whole of today to hangout" he said playfully and she scoffed , walking back to her own cubicle which was just opposite his. "You wish!" Next Day Evening .... South Dakota ..... The once salmon and purple sky transformed into a vast expanse of jet-black that engulfed the mountainous South Dakota A canopy of luminous stars materialized amongst the ocean of blackness. Some were dull, merely flickering into existence every now and then, but there was an adequate amount of shimmering stars to illuminate the dark, moonless night. The airplane tilted slightly to the right and began a slow and steady turn. Below, the capitol looked like square plots on a huge map. Small cars heading down two-way roads came into view, as well as enchanting various colored homes that brightened the window. Jasper felt his ears pop, and he opened his mouth in an attempt to release the pressure that was making him feel uncomfortable. The wind howled as the airplane made its final turn onto the waiting runway and ended with a mild rumbling as the tires kissed the tarmac. Soon enough, people got up and were scavenging for their belongings. Jasper did the same also and came down from the airplane,he was quite tired from the long flight. After clearing himself at the airport, he flagged down a taxi , showed him the address the agency gave and got in. "Well hello Sioux falls" he exhaled as the car began moving.
