27 Kira stood outside the precinct. She breathed in the humid night air in an attempt to clear her dazed thoughts. A moment later, Jeff came out to stand beside her. “Need a ride home?” he asked in a soft voice. “I can take you to pick up your car after we’ve had a chance to sleep.” Kira nearly wilted in relief. Right now, she wanted nothing more than to fall into bed. “That would be amazing. Thanks.” “I’ll add it to your tab,” he said with a lopsided smile.
