Chapter 1: The Queen and The Princess
Once upon a time, on a cold December morning in the middle of the beautiful forests of Germany stood a tall and marvelous castle.
The castle was resided by the Queen Grimhilde and her stepdaughter Princess Serene ‘Snow' White.
Snow White, the sixteen year old princess was in the garden, extremely excited plucked a bunch of black roses from the rose bushes.
Her beautiful black hair bended around with the beautiful roses, happiness clearly shown on her fair face and a smile on her plump red lips.
Today was 16th of December, the Queen's birthday, and everyone was busy in the preparation of the functions.
Snow herself was wishing to give her stepmother a gift, and hence decided to give her stepmother her favourite flowers, black roses.
Snow never really understood why her stepmother liked black roses, Snow always found them too dark for her liking.
Suddenly, Snow heard a sound of someone clearing their throat and turned around to find a beautiful older woman standing there.
The woman with fair face and brown hair, probably just ten years older that Snow herself, glanced in Snow's sapphire like eyes through her lean and calm green eyes.
Queen Grimhilde stood there, with an expressionless face, “Snow, why are you plucking those roses?"
Snow White smiled brightly at her stepmother, handling her the bouquet of roses, “Happy birthday, mother ”
Grimhilde kept a expressionless face, even though there was a faint smile on her face.
“Snow, you have no need of giving me any presents. There's nothing special today." Grimhilde told her, not much expression in her voice.
“It's your birthday." Snow argued.
She knew her stepmother didn't like celebrating much, at least not as much as most royals do. She never understood why though, it's not like she's too old. She's just in her late 20's, she should live more.
“Just one more day closer to death.” Grimhilde shrugged casually, which made Snow to glare at her.
“Don't talk like that mother.” Snow spoke, almost as if she's the mother not the daughter.
Grimhilde rolled her eyes at her stepdaughter, before shooing her away by saying, “Yeah yeah, now go get ready, breakfast should be ready in a bit and as a princess you must be punctual."
“The guests aren't arriving until lunch though." Snow pointed out to which Grimhilde simply dismissed her point.
She calmly replied, “As a princess, you should understand the importance of time management.”
“Alright, fine.” Snow finally agreed and left the room, much to the Queen's relief.
Grimhilde then looked at the roses in her hands, a sad smile formed on her face before leaving the room once again.
