“I, I can’t. Lea please don’t make me”
“Alice, please go. I can distract them. Run, run as far away as you can. Don’t stop, don’t stop for nothing. Don’t look back. Forget this place. Do it for me Alice”
Her voice was like a whisper but I could hear the urgency in her voice. I knew the guards would be here any second. It was pouring with rain and the wind was so strong it would be blowing our scent and Leas blood towards the walls of the castle. I knew I needed to go, I just couldn’t pull myself away. It was like my mind was telling me one thing but my body was doing the opposite.
“Alice! Go now! They are coming!”
Alice lowered Leas head on the ground as soft as she could. She kissed her forehead and gave an almighty sob.
“I love you so so much Lea”
“I love you too Alice” And with that Alice got up and ran.
Alice ran straight into the forbidden forest. This part of the plan was what she was dreading. And now she was alone, this made it even harder. Her legs were moving as fast as they could but she felt like she wasn’t moving at all. The forest was made up with thick bushes with large thick thorns. They would cut deep even in the lightest touch. Trees stood tall all around, it felt like they were watching her. The smell? God that smell was awful. Alice was not prepared for that. It smelt like flesh, burnt flesh. Alice was dodging trees and fallen logs while her eyes darted all around the place. She was listening constantly. She had heard the terrifying stories of this place. Werewolves would go in and not come back out, never to be seen again.
She didn’t want to shift to her wolf form as she needed to make sure she saved her for a fight. If she shifted to wolf form now, just to run she would lose her energy after a few hours and not be able to fight. Alice had trained for this. She would train for hours with Lea to make sure they were strong enough and even though they thought they were ready. They clearly were not.
Alice stopped suddenly. She wasn’t alone. She could sense the presence around her. All around her. f**k. Alice calmed her breathing and blocked out all the sounds. She didn’t know how she had this power or why she had it, all she knew is she could pin point exactly where they were with her eyes closed. They would glow in her mind. There were 3 in total.
“Who are you?” Alice shouted out. She tried to make herself sound confident but she was pretty sure they could see right through her.
Out from the thicket a slow figure crept out. Even on all fours it was tall. Oh. My. God. I can’t fight that Alice thought. It’s snout was long. It’s teeth were on show snarling at her. It’s eyes were piercing through her. Alice turned her head. Another one slowly appeared from the shadows in the exact same stance. They stopped staring at her waiting for her first move. Where the hell was the 3rd Alice thought. Her heart was racing so hard she thought she was going to pass out. Her thoughts snapped back to Lea.
“Run, Run and never look back!” She felt like she had failed.
A tear had left Alice’s eye without her knowing. It slipped down her sore cheek.
“I don’t want any trouble. Please just let me pass” “I beg you” The I beg you came out as a whisper but she knew they had heard her. Alice slowly took a step back but as her foot touched the floor her back hit something hard. She flipped round and looked up. A handsome face was looking down at her with a stone cold look. He was ripped and gorgeous like a God. His brunette hair was short, his eyes were green and he smelt amazing. He wasn’t like the two monsters. Alice knew he wasn’t with them. She knew he was there to help and in that moment Alice knew she was safe.
“Arghhhh”
Alice was knocked sideways plummeting to the cold floor. Her forehead hit a rock causing a rippling pain surge through her head. She touched her forehead and then looked at her fingers. Blood.
“f**k” she moaned out loud sitting up trying to regain her stance. The mysterious guy had shoved her sideways due to the monster on the left pouncing at them, trying to get one over. Alice took a sharp breath inwards. Wow, what a guy she thought. Even mid fight he was gorgeous. He hadn’t even turned into his wolf to fight them. That’s even if he was a wolf. He was strong. Hitting them backwards. He was knocking them flying. Who was he? The second monster turned its head suddenly taking Alice of guard.
“s**t” Alice grabbed the tree next to her and pulled herself up. She started to run, her head pounding. The rain had started again and my god it was cold. Where am I going? Where the f**k am I she thought desperately to herself.
Out of no where the monster jumped in front of her. She fell backwards looking up at its snarling mouth. It slowly made its way to her face, it’s nose nearly touching her mouth. She could feel it’s breath on her.
“Please don’t. What do you want from me?”
The monsters wide eyes looked back at her. It knew exactly what she was saying but it didn’t care. It’s slit eyes were laughing at her. Still on the floor she scurried backwards bringing herself up to a tree. She moved her hands slightly behind her where she could feel it’s trunk. All these years of training and this is what she had become. A frightened, fragile girl? She thought of Lea. Her face, her laugh, their friendship. That’s when the rage took over her.
“f**k you” she whispered and grabbed the large log next to her and smacked it across its ugly face. Stunned, the monster took a few steps backwards and Alice stood up.
“I said f**k you!” And just like that she turned into her wolf and launched herself at the creature.
She went for the neck, arms, legs, wherever she could make some sort of contact. Her wolf had always been strong. Her wolf was different. A white wolf with the brightest green eyes. She stood taller than the other female wolfs and she never understood why.
She was playing dirty. She wanted to get as many attacks in while it was still stunned. It didn’t take it long to gain composure and out of no where it swiped her across her face with its large ugly claws.
That was the last thing she remembered as her body hit the ground.
