Scary stories and Folk tails of Enid, Oklahoma

So to give you a little bit about myself and this book. I was born in Enid and was raised in Waukomis. Waukomis is a small town about 9 miles outside of Enid. My next book will be about all the stuff that happened in that town. This book, however, is about every story that I was told growing up about Enid. Some of the stories are hard to believe and others make the news. I will tell you about ghost hunting and the people in those stories. I was born in 1982. I know it wasn't a good year. I was born into a family that, to put it on nice terms, was bad news before I was born. Hi, my name is Patsy and these are spooky stories about Enid, Oklahoma. I know a lame beginning but I couldn't think of how to fully start the book. I could have told you more about myself, but I don't think you care to know my family history of stupid stuff. We were a normal family kind of. We had drunk people in the family, firemen in the family, army people in the family, and druggies( kind of normal it was the 80s and hippies were in the 70s). So now about the book and the stories in it. I will give you a rough draft of the stories before I tell you the full story in the book. The Mrs. Piles story: It's about a brother who watched his younger brother burn to death over a girl breaking up with him. I had to change the name out of respect for the people. The story was told to my dad by the family, and then my dad told me the story. It was very tragic that it happened to a nice family and I am sorry for their loss. The Enid Insane Asylum story: This story was really weird because I always thought my dad was talking about the state school or the nut house by the park in town. That was until I went looking for it. I had to do a lot of looking and talking to other people about it to figure it out. So I don't have much about it, just the stories. I am not sure what caused it to burn down or who the people were that ran the place, or that stayed there. The disappearing people: This story is one of those that I think my dad was high when told me only because I couldn't find anything about it. But my dad said he was friends with the father of the girl. I also know that people have said that there are ghosts that hunt the houses around the cemetery. So it is one of those things, whether you can believe it or not. The only thing I have seen and found stories about is that it is hunted by soldiers. The dead man's cave: I only knew about rumors of it. It wasn't until this week that I heard the stories about it. I have met people that went down to the place. They all say it is a ditch on Pine Street by the baseball field. Even the story of it seems way too normal for it to be a hunted place. But you never know, ghosts have been hunting weirder stuff before. Garfield furniture store: the place where Daniel Booth actually died. That is the story I was told and it is in Enid history stuff. I am not, however, sure about that because history itself says differently. So you will have to be the judge on that. Enid Symphony hall: some guy died in the elevator there. I have been in that building and the lights are old so they will flicker sometimes. The elevator is a little touchy as well. Women’s dormitory at Phillips University: someone killed a lot of women there. I used to work there and the girl's dorm was bad for ghosts. Leonardo’s Discovery Warehouse: this is one that I think is fake. Only because the pieces don't fit. Now don't get me wrong, I am sure some parts are true in it. It is just that other parts seem faker than fake. Philips University ART Building: once again, I was there working and had stuff happen to me personally. There are more stories over the next few chapters about Enid, Oklahoma. I will be making more books about other towns as well. And you never know I might write about your town someday. Oh, and before I forget if you decide to ever go ghost hunting, make sure you are safe about it. There are rules that you should always follow. 1. always tell someone where you are going 2. always take at least one person with you 3. always take a flashlight and cell phone 4. always stay on public property unless you have permission to be there. 5. always take a first aid kit with you.
