"I am sorry Your Majesty" Kain, the bodyguard who barged in, apologized quickly for his inappropriate behavior.
Alpha Ethan pushed Becca away from his body and she fell on the bed.
"What do you want?." Ethan inquired coldly. His mood could be depicted from his voice.
"Her highness wishes to see you." Kain informed. "She is outside." He added.
"Tell her to wait in my study room, I shall meet her there shortly." Alpha Ethan instructed and Kain went to relay the message instantly. When he got outside, he didn't meet Theadora outside as he left her. He saw her figure fading in the hallway. It seemed like she heard what Ethan said and was headed to the study room to wait.
Becca had wished Thea was the one who entered so she would see her together with Ethan. kissing.
Thea reached the study room where Ethan had instructed that she waited for him.
She just remembered that it was the first time that she was being allowed to go inside the study. Previously when she requested to meet Ethan in his study, her request was declined and she was sent back to her room. She then discovered that his lover was inside with him that day. The same woman was inside his chamber where she had just left.
Thea had wanted to make the Marriage between her and the Alpha work. But his constant rejection whenever she tries to meet him or talk to him made her get fed up. She wasn't treated right ever since she came to the Dark-Night pack. She was always locked indoors and sedatives were given to her to make her unconscious whenever she wanted to meet with the Alpha. Thea had no choice but to reach out to Maxwell to save her from the maltreatment but then they got caught. It was now up to her actions to get Maxwell released and she wasn't going to blow it up. She would do anything to get Maxwell freed and reunite with him someday. Maxwell's pack hasn't responded to her message and it made her worry that he might die before they arrive.
Thea paced in the study room, admiring the books and antique designs in there. She couldn't help but admit that Alpha Ethan had a good taste with interiors. She went further to check the books which were neatly arranged on the shelves which were a few feet taller than her.. Thea wasn't tall but of average height.
She saw a book which caught her interest and tried to pick it up from the shelf. She successfully did but while she was taking it, her eyes caught another book which was titled. "A forbidden love." Painful, but she was experiencing the same situation. Thea was curious to see the contents of the book. The book seemed quite old and she was certain that a copy of it might not be available to get from the local market. She was also not familiar with the Reigns kingdom so she doubted that she could get the same book. She looked at the back cover of the book. It was thick and brownish. The title was visibly written on the back edge of the book with golden thread.
Thea stretched her legs and arms in order to get the book but it wasn't possible for her. She then dropped the one she first picked and then arranged a stool in order to climb and get the book.
While she did that, Thea noticed that the stool she climbed was unstable and she might fall if she wasn't careful. She finally reached where the book was but then the door opened and she panicked. Ethan saw Thea falling and his heart skipped in fear then he rushed to her. Ethan reached just in time to save Thea from falling from such height. Thea trembled and grabbed his shirt tightly. She buried her head inside his shirt for a minute, she realized that she didn't fall but someone caught her. Thea grabbed him more tightly and indeed she noticed that she was on the cold solid floor. Thea inhaled Ethan's captivating cologne and she enjoyed it. She didn't recognize the scent and who it belonged to. She slowly opened her eyes and gazed up. Thea's green eyes met with Ethan's dark eyes and his usual cold face and mocking grin.
Thea traced Ethan's hand and realized that he was grabbing her butt and then she pushed and hit him hard.
"Drop me down." She demanded angrily which Ethan did and she fell to the floor.
"Ouch." Thea cried out in pain.
"You didn't have to be so hard on me." She reminded.
"You asked to be let go off. And I did."
"It'll be better if you let me off forever." She replied sharply.
"That isn't ever going to happen, Thea." Ethan grinned.
He moved his eyes around the room and saw the disorganized shelf and the stools that Thea arranged for climbing.
"What were you doing?." He inquired.
Thea raised up the book in her right hand.
She stood up and dusted her bright yellow gown instantly.
"Why do you request to meet me?." Ethan wasted no time to ask about the reasons for their meeting.
Seeing that Thea said nothing, Ethan smirked mockingly and moved towards her. Thea swallowed dryly.
"Or were you just seeking a way for us to be alone?"
"Don't flatter yourself too much Alpha. I requested to meet you because I needed your permission on something." Thea spoke quickly.
"On what?." Ethan asked sharply.
Thea sighed. Seeing Ethan stand so close to her increased the discomfort she felt.
"I feel isolated inside and I've been indoors for days, I would like to request for your permission to attend the upcoming fair at the Silver Claws pack."
"It is an annual fair and I do attend it and never miss one. I hope you can allow me." She explained.
"You want to visit your kingdom, is that so princess?."
"Yes. your majesty." She replied politely. Thea despised how he claimed ignorance after her request. She just had to be calm with him in order to be able to carry out her plans for Max.
"I am sorry princess, but I cannot grant that request. Not after you tried to run away yesterday."
"I already apologized for my behavior. You already have Maxwell in your dungeon. I cannot escape with him and I have no plans to do so anymore." Thea pleaded.
"I do not believe you." Ethan revealed and walked away. Thea followed him instantly.
"If you let me go, just this once. I would do anything you ask of me. Please."
"I would give it a thought, but don't expect a positive response from me." Ethan declared and left. Thea stood at the hallway with one hand clenched on her dress and the other holding the book in her hand and she watched Ethan leave.
