My calm state from the grounding exercises I did this morning dissolves into nothing, and once again, I feel an almost urgent need to lash out at someone. Not someone—Faith. “Oh, hey, Aerin. I was just showing Faith how to garden. Did we ever work out how to do that properly?” Mack calls out, his brown eyes laughing. No. This isn’t him replacing me, this is just him being friendly as he always is with everyone. I smile. “No. We’re not even close.” When Faith turns her back to me without even acknowledging me, it’s clear my presence is neither needed nor wanted. Mack’s smile dims. But before he can suggest we all garden together, I head for the house. “I need to grab something from upstairs. I’ll leave you to get on with it.” I turn to Adela. “I’ll be back in a bit for training, okay?”
