Magical scene

Mateo guided Violet into a separate part of the woods, showing her to an area he’d called his ‘safe haven’ apparently a place that contained clean water and a little log cabin, so she could wash away the blood that coated her and hopefully put some bandages on the numerous wounds she had. He’d thought it was strange that such a pretty woman had so many cuts and bruises, he wanted to question her but the cold look in her eyes kept his mouth sealed shut. Until he noticed something he found rather funny. Chuckling to himself he looked down at his own clothes then he looked back up at her gown, and then down at his suit again. “We’re matching.” He observed, still cackling to himself. Violet checked him out, taking in the details of his tattered suit. Dark blue, almost black suit pants and a white shirt that had been torn open, no doubt by her when they were somewhat fighting. The thing that made them look matching was the baby blue capes, they were almost identical but his was a simple plain blue whereas hers had delicate white designs covering the entire cape making it look more feminine. She looked like a queen and he looked like her king, though that was far from the truth. Laughing with him, grasping a part of her baby blue dress and holding it in the air like a Disney princes she spoke softly. “So we are.” She smiled gazing down at her own appearance. She’d worn her favourite gown and the colour represented her father’s gang, baby blue was his colour and no matter her outfit she needed something to show who she belonged too, she wouldn’t tell Mateo that though. Violets dress once had white lace detailing the outline of her dress, but most of it was missing or barely hanging on now. There was numerous slits in the dress that definitely shouldn’t be there and the blood that dotted around it proved they’d been incident marks. Incident marks meaning wounds, it was just what she’d called them to make them sound less scary than what they actually were. Shortly after the realisation of them looking like a couple they finally arrived at the log cabin. Rocks towered above the duo helping the water cascade quickly and causing multiple interruptions within the water that could’ve been falling smoothly. The rocks Made it look wild and unsettling. In a way Violet resonated with the water, inside she felt the exact same. Like she was falling into a pit, forever hitting rock after rock making her go crazy and unpredictable, when all she wanted was for herself to fall smoothly. The trees acted like a canopy, hiding them away from anything lurking around. The trees almost looking as though they were glowing, with the multiple hues of greens, yellows and oranges, the vibrancy of the colours felt blinding in her eyes that had grown more familiar with darkness. Everything seemed so glowy and magical, almost like she’d been thrown into a dream and if she made a sudden movement the scene in front of her would vanish, along with her. Nature was a beautiful thing. Violet sighed, almost in a peaceful state but she still couldn’t relax her tense body. She thought she’d never be able to completely relax anymore. That’s what she had thought not so long ago, the fact she shouldn’t be so tense now since she was in no danger, proved her past self to be correct. She closed her eyes, focusing on the last memory she had at a waterfall. Sometime in the middle of summer Violet and her father had gone on an adventure, he called it his treat for how incredible she was doing in training. It would always be a weekend trip and it would only be him and her, that’s what she had only known. She was alone in this world with only her father holding her hand guiding her through life, the problem was he had all control of which direction he could take her in. He’d took her to a little nature museum and they sat on a bench in front of a fake waterfall, she fell in love with the sight instantly since she’d never actually seen one. Her father watched her intently, a sad smile evident on his features. “You’re ready princess.” He had whispered. She knew what it meant but in her heart she wasn’t ready. She never wanted to be ready, she never wanted to hurt others who did no wrong to her, but she was just a kid and her dad was her idol. She always did what he told her to do, unfortunately he never had to ask twice. That was the start of her downfall. She’d been so young and naive then. When he pointed towards a man who was angrily yelling at his phone and simply said ‘kill’ she did. She’d pounced on him like a dog obeying its master with a one word command. She had been so very young. Every life she took left an imprint in her brain playing over and over again like a movie but this one was the most damaging, this one was the one that let her father manipulate her into what she was now. Blinking the memory away she stalked towards the lake, kicking her shoes off and untied her cape throwing them both on a log. She’d lifted the skirt of her dress and sat on the edge of the grass, dangling her legs into the lukewarm water letting it wash away whatever wet blood it could before she started rubbing at her skin with so much force her skin changed to an irritated red colour, Mateo noticed her sudden shift in mood but left her to it. Not wanting to tempt the beast he noticed she could be. She’d sort out her own demons after all and he was nothing but a stranger that didn’t need to meddle with something he had no clue about. He could tell she’d had a tough life just from the coldness in her eyes and the way she had no reaction to pain. Without saying a word, Mateo joined Violet by the lake side, mimicking her previous actions. Kicking his boots off and untying his cape to chuck them on the same log Violet used. He’d left some space between them not wanting to make her uncomfortable or cautious. They sat in silence for a while both lost in their own thoughts and doing their own thing. Mateo mostly watched Violet, she seemed to be in deep thoughts not paying attention to what she was doing physically but her body naturally did things anyway, like she was a robot programmed to do the same routine whenever water touched her skin. Though she had to work around her dress. She acted like this was a normal occurrence or she could adapt to things rather quickly. Violet had cleaned all of her exposed skin, getting her dress soaked in the process, but she didn’t care. She just wanted to scrub away everything she was thinking about. Her thoughts were starting to get draining and she scolded herself to no ends for even thinking about things she’d been trained not to do. The silence stretched through the night, even after they both stepped away from the lake and headed inside the cabin. It was like they both knew they needed time to adjust to whatever it was that was happening. He gave her one of his shirts to sleep in and gave her a brief tour before leaving to wash their clothes. She didn’t see him again after that. Instead she climbed into bed and took a well deserved rest, letting fatigue guide her body into a dreamless sleep, she preferred those over the nightmares. She hated the nights where hundreds of innocent faces flashed through her mind covered in blood and screaming in pain. Tonight she was grateful to have nothing but darkness.
