LAURA’S POV “Good morning Mam, have you seen these two?” I heard a police officer ask the old lady outside the barn. The sun is already shining and the chickens are making a lot of noise. I can nearly open my eyes after all the crying. “Are you sure mam? Someone said they saw them coming in this direction?” “Jade, jade wake up,” I say when I realised what’s going on outside. I dress in the clothes I had on last night. I struggle to get Jade to open his damn eyes and realise what’s going on. “Jade!” I whispered one more time. “What a f**k, Laura,” he growled. “There’s a police officer outside.” I search for a viable way out, any way except for the massive wooden doors where we came in last night, but I was fooling myself for even searching.
