laura’s Pov
“Thank you for the ride.” Jade took our bag from the trunk and nodded to the unfamiliar guy.
My heart sinks lower with every step we take closer to the front door. I took Jade’s hand in mine and I can feel how his body is tensed up. He gave me a small smile.
“Whatever happens, remember that I love you,” he announced, making me feel nervous. Clearly, his father has a lot of moves left, and the Queen is no longer protected on the other side of the board. He has my king backed up in a corner with no moves left.
Jade opened the door and walked straight to the study.
“Where is Jeremy?” I asked the moment I saw Mr Summers sitting in his chair, a gun raised to Mrs summer’s head. He’s drinking scotch and the place stinks with the smell of alcohol.
“Let my mother go,” Jade demande
